Open box. Add macaroni to 6 qts boiling water. Boil for 7 minutes stirring occasionally. Drain, add cheese sauce mix, 4 tbs butter, 1/4 cup milk. Mix thoroughly.

Yum Yum. Good stuff

That's what the box says (doesn't it? I was doing it from memory). Note that she didn't ask if we actually followed the recipe. She just asked for it. I never use that much though. Maybe about three quarts (or two? I never measure just fill the pan)

Well, there are 4 quarts in a gallon; so it seems you use a gallon and a half to boil your macaroni. *grin* It might be 6 cups and to be honest I rarely measure anything when I cook. I just dump it in until it tastes right.

Now when I bake I'm pretty good about measuring but it's not a precise science or anything. *grin*

Normally when I cook I measure everything (I am an enginner after all)

When I bake, especially cookies, I really measure everything. The recipe must be followed EXACTLY!

You measure that stuff? I just throw things into the pot (guesses).

I also throw in some cheddar cheese for good measure.

Ummm...I was a psyche major so...hmmm...can't think of a good response to the engineer comment. *grin*

My best friend can't cook to save her life, (God love her) so I always crack her up when she comes over for dinner or something. I'm usually just throwing spices around, mixing, adding...taking out...LOL...but it's usually quite tasty so apparently I'm doing something right.

Taking things out while cooking is an interesting concept.

Well sometimes you just dump out the entire contents of the cinnamon container and you have to creatively save the dish by scraping off the top!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Exactly! I remember the last time something like that happened I was soooo mad!!! LOLOL!!! (insert mad face smiley here; I can't remember where it is!)

Or once I added too much green onion and had to scoop some of it out. *grin* Cooking can be quite creative at my house.

Watching you and Tink cook would drive me insane. M cooked the ame way. "Oh a dash of this a splash of that, Maybe a pinch of this while holding your toungue just right" never measured a thing but always tasted great.

I could not be in the kitchen when she cooked. I just couldn't do it. Deep down inside me every fiber of my being would be screaming "That's wrong! You didn't measure" But I knew enough about being a husband to turn and walk away before I really got it in trouble

I have to measure certain things just so. Other items, such as spices, I can play with. What I'm horrible at is making a huge mess! (actually, I excel at it) That's part of the fun for me, though.

True.

But Johnno...think of it this way... (good) cooking is more of an art form than a science....

Another thing I can't do. When I make cookies there is minimal spillage (perhaps less than 1/8 cup flour after three batches and each batch uses 2 2/3 cup fo flour which is then sifted).

The Girl!? I put a big pan under where she is working to catch everything. I have to physically restrain myself from shouting when she spills. And oh does she spill!

But it's important that she learn so I try to let her.

Spills, splatters, and splashes...that's one of the reason why we have soap, water, and towels!

Hmm, I'm not sure, but I don't think that pie calls for cape. It may be good in there though.
