pinkpillow92 -> I'm looking for new music (3/16/2008 2:38:19 PM)

I'm on a new music lookout, as you can tell.

I like rock, particularly metal and alternative. I'm looking for both Christian and secular bands.

Go ahead, post some suggestions :)

gtrdave -> RE: I'm looking for new music (3/16/2008 3:34:51 PM)

Some of my favs...Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, The Almost, Switchfoot, Disciple, MuteMath, POD, RED, Porcupine Tree, Neal Morse, Plumb, King's X, Incubus.

Terath -> RE: I'm looking for new music (3/16/2008 5:25:50 PM)

I would suggest Killswitch Engage, Monty Are I, Mortal Treason, Rage Against the Machine, Rise Against, Saliva, Children of Bodom, Static X, Tokyo Rose, Wolfmother, Zentrix, 2Cents, Billy Talent, and Chevelle.

COREMINISTRY -> RE: I'm looking for new music (3/16/2008 5:53:28 PM)

A part of CORE's ministry is the hosting of a monthly podcast, which features various genres of Christian music. There are links to bands that have been featured on past CORE podcast on the ministry's website: stewardsofgod.org A few bands that fall into the rock/metal genre whose links are on the page include: DecembeRadio, Spoken, Sli-Linc, The Sacrificed (they sound like old school Queensryche), and Tesaurus (a metal band from Belarus). You might want to also check out Demon Hunter and Disciple.

Hope this helps you find something that you might be interested in. Lord Bless! [:)]

mElizabeth -> RE: I'm looking for new music (3/16/2008 7:18:49 PM)

Secular bands? You know this is the Crosswalk forums, right? By definition, promotion of anything "secular" could be a TOS infraction. Perhaps you mean bands functioning in the mainstream that are musically interesting and lyrically inoffensive?

Now to flame my fellow postees...

You do realize the OP is asking for "new" music, right? As much as I love Neal Morse, I wouldn't consider him "new" music. Skillet?? POD??? C'mon people! "New" implies undiscovered or emerging artists that are perhaps flying under the radar. Disciple?? Chevelle??? Rage Against The Machine????

AAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the record, I'd like to find some new music just like the OP asks. I'm only interested in Christian artists, though.

GirlsGoneWildAtHeart -> RE: I'm looking for new music (3/18/2008 10:29:46 PM)

i seriously hope you're joking, nealmorsefan.

to the OP:

thrice
modern life is war
refused
hot water music
in the face of war
manowar
as cities burn
criteria

doesn't matter if its "new" or not. whats familiar to one person might be new to somebody else.

You can see some of my suggestions for a type of metal in post 28 of the thread uncabeeil was so kind enough to link. Perhaps it would help if you listed some of the bands you already like.
