I would consider that harrassment. I would never do that to anyone else, either. Regardless of how icky the avatar is.

maybe. but i would hope that a pm would give both individuals the opportunity to address issues without a huge maelstrom of offense erupting that involves a larger community needlessly. i also think it's biblical a la matthew 18. i would (and have) taken the time to address questions, but have also made it clear when it crosses the line into harassment, or threatens to. then again, i save all my email correspondence to specifically address such possibilities (and cover my butt). As this topic has come up a couple times in the thread, it clearly needs to be addressed. If you think someone's icon/avatar/doohickey is offensive, please do NOT PM them. Find one of their posts, and click on the "report this post" link. Then you can add the details in the ticket.

It is the same if you think a post violates TOS. Report the post, and let the moderators who are trained to handle those situations deal with it.

Sending someone a PM complaining about their avatar/icon or a post they made is not appropriate in the forums.
