not to mention unCanadian...

Am I un-American if I say I thought that was a picture of "evil" Kirk from the episode where a transporter accident made 2 of him: a good Kirk and a bad Kirk?

That's what I thought too.

I have to confess, I have a preference for pictures of the real person, just because there is so much anonymity and falseness on the net. As a Christian I try to keep it as real as possible. Other avatars don't offend me, but a real picture just seems to make the person more real to me. But then again I am a typical male and my perceptions of reality are strongly influenced by what I see with my peepers, so I am inclined to believe that some of you are really kitties and angels.

By way of confession, my picture is a few years old (8, 9?) - but it's a great picture of my wife and I together, so I like to look at it. The only way I can look at us together otherwise is to make her stand in front of a mirror with me, and she hates it when I do that; especially if I make goofy faces.

One of these days I am going to have to post all the little hudlings.

A few pictures out there do disturb me; interestingly, they seem to be associated with people that disturb me as well.

You notice mine is far away so wrinkles cannot be seen. (LOL). I need to put a young one on, and fake being twenty again, but used to have a business teacher for twenty years who used the same young photo, and I used to laugh at her, so better not use the twenty year old one. My hair is shoulder length since this photo. My husband shaved his, his only hope. I hope I am thinner than this photo, but, probaly not. I worry too much about weight. everyone has their quirks.

People always look different when they post a photo, than in my minds eye. That is always strange to me. It took years for me to feel confident to post a photo. never like my pitchures.

LOL, I hate my photos, really hate them. I have a snap shot where I am in pjs, after a stomach virus, eating sugar smacks cereal, my mouth is open, and one side swollen from the cereal and my hair sticking up. Maybe I should put that one on, it would cause great, great, offense, and terror. If you put yours on I will mine. I want to see you, I put myself out and let people see. me. It would be nice, and we could see what each other looks like. I bet you look different than I imagine. Everyone does. Do I to you? even in the cannot see wrinkles photo?

You are so funny, girl I actually don't know how to do it. My old computer with that picture, "crashed" last summer and I don't know where that picture is now

Don't have a recent picture of me...

I am so computer illiterate and don't have digital camera so...how would I do this?

Actually, no, you don't look that much different because you posted the child picture with the bangs and so I recognized you in current picture.... I still want to know how you got a tan so fast

I tend to not like my photos because they don't match my inner image. And we don't see all of ourselves in the mirror. And that is opposite of what we see in the photos. BUT I have photoshop! And someone else has fun messing with the avatars now and then (which I find delightful).

My hair is much longer now than this photo but I love the memory of this day.

That was the passive and agressive Kirk. Both were necessary for a healthy Kirk.

If anyone's offended by my avatar... well, they just need to get over themselves.

I don't use a photo of myself for many reasons. I agree with car2ner that my self-image differs so much from my physical appearance that I'm never quite comfortable with photos of myself. So, I rotate between photos of my three kiddos instead. I think it will be 2 year old Luke's turn next and then six-year old Marshall. He loves it when he's my avatar!

I am disappointed- someone said they were gonna report my avatar to this thread and they haven't got around to it.

Give me a few days- I'll come up with something better.

I have one of a kitty with a pink ball of yarn that says she is gonna take over the world.
I have one of the same kitty but her ball of yarn says Jimbo for Prez!
I have one of a pink straight jacket.
I even have one of Shrek and donkey done up like ZZ top and crew. HEHEHEHE!

I think our avatars do show a bit of our personality. I use mine to promote world domination. Always have... Always will... at least it does when I feel like it. I do take a few months of the year off. We all need a sabbatical from being a maniacal dictator from time to time.

THIS one is a fave... It is a quote from my 15yo darlin daughter a few months or so back. She walked in and stated as sweet as can be...

"Attention! The following is a public service announcement: Today has been canceled due to lack of interest... We now return you to your previously scheduled Whatever..."

she did it with such drama it demanded to be made into an avatar.
