This was exactly the thread that I was looking for!

I was curious what others were doing.

As for us, we are putting in a much needed floor in our rec room. It is rotted and the piano stool went through in one spot so we are so relieved to have this money coming in.

The check ended up being more than we thought it would be, and it looks like we will be able to get that front loading washing machine that we have been so needing.

I have a feeling that it is also what my husband is using to pay for repairs on my laptop. I can't wait to get it back. I miss Tia.

We plan to use most or all of it to purchase homeschooling curriculum and supplies.

There is a Home Depot that is closing in a town that we don't go to often. We bought a front loading washing machine for $560! I am so thrilled. this meant that we able to buy David Carpeting for his room for $120. We also got some paint and a few other things. I am so excited about the deals that were able to get.

The floors downstairs are pretty bad, and my be more work than I had intended and then we found that we also have to do the floors in the laundry room before we can put the washing machine in. Good thing that we got the machine for a good price.

Good deal on the washer, Ellie!

I dunno what I am going to do, and neither does Himself. Ours came on Friday, I think. Maybe it was Thursday, though--I can't remember

I guess I will use some to stimulate the economy of the local reef store. I need some crabs, and a few new corals would be nice.

I feel weird being told "spend this money." (Not like I really need encouragement in that area...) Everything I have thought of is a household expense and already "in the budget."

Ps103, if you are having trouble thinking of something to spend it on, ask a teenager. My teenage children are very good at thinking of things to buy that are not in the budget!

I think that is the problem The teenagers are grown and gone.

Now, if there were grandchildren (which I am not allowed to actively solicit) I could burn through the money in about five minutes

Thanks to the group that handles our company's paychecks, we had to pay in over $1,500. Apparently, that is the reason we still haven't received our check - which will partially fill that unexpected hole in our meager savings.

Still haven't received my check. It'll be used to pay some upcoming bills and maybe some clothes, if I can find the thrift stores everyone seems to be getting their classy clothes from.

We just purchased most of our curriculum and supplies for the next school year. We only need to hit the sales in August when paper, notebooks, etc. all go on sale.
