Alright, so I don't really know where to go for this...
I've been dealing with sexual desire for years now. My heart seems to be full of lust. And I feel so dirty for it. But I don't want to displease God by thinking such things yet it's really hard to not think of them, especially being a teenager. All I want to do is please Him and live a healthy life but I feel as if I'm failing miserably. I've read many verses on the matter, they've seemed to help with understanding my problem. I've also recently started going to a new church and I plan on praying more about this. Every time I think I'm doing alright with the problem, I fall into temptation. It just seems like it will never end. How else can I get help?

there isnt really anything much you do about it other than pray. ive had this problem since forever and still do.

there is a verse somewhere. some people think it says 'whoever looks at a woman and lusts after her has already commited adultery'. others think it says 'whoever looks at a woman TO lust after her has already commited adultery'

i dont know which one to believe, but im more prone towards the second. if i looked at all girls and never lusted/found them attractive, i'd probably worry im gay.

there is a difference between accepting and understand your sexuality and letting it be part of yourself. its another to let it control you

Hmmm. I believe you're talking about the verse Matthew 5:28. That verse scares me, because it's not like I'm involved in the activity, but I have it in my heart which Jesus says is the same thing. I certainly do need to pray about it more.

It's not so much the thought per say, but the inner desire to engage with such person in sexual manner, if contemplated and not resisted, is sin.

From the age of near-ish twelve until the point I was radically transformed by the saving grace of Christ, I constantly stumbled over myself in such ways. It begins with lust, and that lust feeds off of more lust that continually builds inside of you. Be it a thought, from something seen on television or internet, or from seeing someone in public places, it builds. Lusts transforms into worse, more immoral things, and unfortunately for me, it escalated into pornography. That alone captured the majority of the prior portion of my teenage life.

What Christ condemns isn't exactly the sudden thought that may randomly come into your mind, but how you handle the thought. If you think on it and begin desiring within your heart in such immoral and impure ways, then it becomes as He says.

Thankfully, you already seem fully aware of these issues that you're currently facing. My advice to you would not only be to just pray, but actually sit down and have a conversation with Him. James speaks about that if any one of you is in trouble, he should pray, and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. Some of the moments where I've seen God active most is when I completely surrender myself unto Him and pour out my heart for His grace, and the things He has done for me are mind-blowing, and I know I'm not the only one who shares that testimony.

Don't be afraid to ask God for the understanding of what His son actually went through for you and I. What felt like the most indescribable pain, regardless He knew some girl named Becca would be struggling with these things and He said, "you know what? this is for you."

Becca, you're not the only one going through such things. This problem plagues everyone, myself included.

1 Corinthians 10:5 "...We take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ."

Philippians 4:8 "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praise worthy - think about such things."

It's not an easy thing to overcome by any means. But it's a matter of total surrender. Remain in prayer and keep seeking God out in His word. I suggest pulling out your Bible whenever those thoughts come up. Fight the forces of the flesh with the power of the Holy Spirit contained on those pages. Remember that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Lust can only take over if you allow it to. I'll be praying for yas.

Everyone's already covered everything so well, I don't really think I can say much more. [:)]

Still, in addition to the emotional and spiritual consequences of lust, you can also suffer physical injury. Two years ago, I was so blinded by lust that I became so sick that I couldn't eat anything without losing it. It got to the point that I was constantly throwing up blood and growing weaker and weaker, until I could barely get out of bed in the morning. My thoughts were so imprisoned it was affecting my body.

Thankfully, my best friend and my mother helped me realize what was happening and they guided me through recovery, using prayer and love. I had thought there was no way to get out, which is probably why I never tried. But the Word explicitly says:

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1 Cor 10:13

No matter WHAT you feel, if you pray and trust in God, He WILL provide some way for you to get out. The very fact that you realize that you're wrong proves that He's already working in you. Be still and listen to Him--- He'll get you out if you trust Him. I'll be praying for you.

you tell God that you don't want it amymore... Give everything completely up to him. Father God I pray for this person right now. I speak to this spirit of lust that is on her and maybe the rest of her family and I tell you to leave these people alone. You have no authority over them. For they are children of God. I speak a pureness to arise and awaken up spiritual gifts that you have enstilled in this family Father. Show them your love, your joy, your peace, and give them wisdom and strength daddy. Daddy show them show worthy they are to praise you.. That you have not forgotton them or this generation.... I speak to the dryness and I tell you to drink up our Father's word... I speak a desire to spend time with you and a desire to grow more intimate with you. Because you are not only God, but you are our father,mother,brother or sister that we have never had... Thank you daddy for being there when we need you....justcallmebecca I SPEAK FREEDOM OVER YOU!!!! YOU ARE FREE BECAUSE THE SON SET YOU FREE!!!

yeah.. it's real what Rev said...

I was dealing with that about the age of 15, and it really bugged me. I felt dirty for it to. So I asked God to take it away. It didn't happen the first time, but I kept praying for him to take it away and he did. I know that this age is not the age for sexual desires to be awake, I simply asked him to put 'em back to sleep until it was the right time.

Granted, it's impossible now for me to look at a guy and think "wow, he's pretty hott" and actually feel anything. But I'd rather not anyway, not until I meet "the one" that God intends for me to feel that way about.

And I know all y'all are going to think I'm absolutely nuts and that it can't happen that way... but it has lol. And as proof I met a guy a few months ago that I thought could have potential....hahahaha I didn't feel right at all. In fact, the whole relationship made me literally sick every day until I called it off. And I thought it was just butterflies, but nope.

The last part of this really makes sense! I am well aware of the fact that sexual temptation and lust are my biggest weaknesses. I accept the fact that it is going to be a struggle and I try to stay close to God. I also realize though that this is a part of who I am. By not acting on my desires, I show my love for God.

I can somewhat say I understand how you feel...I am a little older than you and have struggled with this same issue. Prayer does help a lot yes but you also need to keep yourself involved in the reading of your bible. Also I found out that keeping good strong Christian friends and making yourself accountable to someone helps a lot. Its not easy going through this alone and you no what you don't have to either just try to keep focused and know if you do mess up and you ask God to forgive you he will giving you have the chance to start all over again.[:)]
