Me too! The worst part is my younger sisters love it and know that I don't like it tons. So they'll catch me singing it and tease me...

i really like listening to eddie vedder when he forgets his own lyrics... and when he remembers them. i felt bad the other day for but thoroughly enjoyed watching/listening to some songs of them (pearl jam) on youtube.
another seriously guilty pleasure of mine is any old school florida techno breakbeats.... but i try not to indulge too often...

Well, I suppose INXS could be considered a guilty pleasure band. I like some of their songs.

No guilt here, the CD "Kick" (where "The Devil Inside" comes from) is one of a few examples of an 80s CD that managed to be completely mainstream (several songs got radio airplay) and an artistic achievement. If you wanted to show someone what we were listening to in the 80s (mainstream speaking) and make the 80s look good it would be a great place to start.
As far as the lyrics go while many Christians were appauled. One of the youth group leaders in my church used it as an example of the evil of rock, using the lyrics "The devil in me, the devil in me" as his "evidence". But really its in the Bible, we all have a sin nature and thats what the song was saying. Maybe it was too celebatory of that as opposed to lamentive (word?) but really to me it was neither. It was just an acknowlegement of a reality we wish we were without.

Iron Butterfly
For years (like since 1972) I have been looking for a "mythological" 24 minute version of In A Gadda Da Vida that was mentioned in an interview with the band.
I finally found 2 of them!! Both bootleg recordings from the Jan 1971 tour of europe. They were recorded on consecutive nights and it is amazing how differently they played just 24 hours later.....

I agree with you. The lyrics to this song only reveal the true nature of humanity. We all have the ability to hurt each other around us. If one only looked at the title and listened to the chorus one can't make a fair judgement on the song. "Words are weapons sharper than knives."

Flyleaf for me. Honestly don't know why I like them with all the squeaky vocals, generic lyrics, and unimaginative song structures.
I think I'm beginning to develop a crush on the lead singer or something.

My eleven year old discovered Weird Al just last year. Since we can stream all his stuff on Napster he's been listening to them a lot.
I can remember listening to Doctor Demento in high school on KMET Los Angeles (another guilty pleasure?) and enjoying his original stuff which was recorded in his bathroom with only his accordion as accompaniment.
It's amazing how polished now the songs are on "Straight Out of Lynwood" (which is the city next to Compton where he actually was raised) compared to the earliest stuff "Another One Rides the Bus". Now, its like Weird Al Kareoke with him singing (or rapping) over the original music tracks.
It's amazing that he has been around for so long (over 30 years) outlasting even some of the groups he parodied (The Knack, MC Hammer, etc.). Weird Al for President, our economy would be in the toilet but we would be laughing about it. Besides could you imagine HIS Stte of the Union speech? ROTFLOL!

You're not alone. I started seeing a lot of music videos on YouTube where I really enjoyed the song. It took a while for me to put together that all of these songs were by the same band!
