ORIGINAL: JimboFletch Men generally go where they want to be and deal with any discomforts - unless they are sissies. I stand behind that statement still. What I'm beginning to think is an issue is that men are becoming sissified, insecure in their masculinity, and want to be coddled, perhaps like they hope some woman might do for them in a non-existent, fantasy relationship.

ORIGINAL: JimboFletch Well expert on the woes of the Church, none of my challenges, sorrow, or pain have resulted from a few flowers or the keys of any songs or the color of the carpet. That much I can guarantee. I wasn't the one to bring those up in this thread. Neither was I. Flowers and tissues are symtomatic of much deeper issues, which, again, you seem unwilling to face. Doesn't take an expert to see it. Symptomatic of what, besides a bunch of sissy, whiney men? I haven't seen a thing that indicates a feminine Church, just excuses. Want me to face up, then get specific. I'm not sure how you can be hearing excuses when then men who are bringing up the problem are church attenders. Men who don't attend church don't see this as a problem. Again, you can acknowledge the problem, or you can have your sensibilities offended and call people sissies. Your choice. Specifically, the biggest problem I see with a feminized church is the inability to 'stand firm' against the pressures of unsound biblical teachings and political correctness. The more feminine (or liberal - they correlate) the church, the more likely they are to compromise, and not confront, false doctrines. I can't help but see a multi-pronged satanic attack on the church coming. The spearhead of the attack will be homosexual rights and gay marriage, along with liberation theology (under the guise of 'social justice') and multicultralism. Not to mention the looming threat of radical Islam. Will a feminine church be able to endure?

ORIGINAL: backrowbaptist ...Will a feminine church be able to endure? As I mentioned in another thread on the same topic, the mix when I was growing up in the 50s & 60s was 85% or more women. So I'm seeing an improvement. And as I stated before, we can pack 'em in if we're willing to change the church into a sports bar, if that's what we want.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's, and I remember men in suits all over the place - in leadership positions, the choir, teaching my Sunday School classes. But I'll bet there were more women than men. This has been happening over a long period of time. quote:
And as I stated before, we can pack 'em in if we're willing to change the church into a sports bar, if that's what we want. As long as we disciple them ('spiritual fathering' is yet another term) after we pack 'em in, I'd say great.

People say Americans are insecure with their masculinity. Reading this thread, I think they might have a point. There's a problem with flowers and songs about God's love, but a sports bar is OK?

About discipleship, I'm dead serious. About the sports bar, I'm being facetious. But then again, churches are being turned into rock concerts, group therapy sessions, there's even a new thread about a pastor bringing in a motorcycle and going Evil Kenevil into his congragation. So why not a sports bar? A little wine is good for the stomach... Actually, this happens. Some of the churches in my area host big Super Bowl parites with big screen TVs. No alcohol that I've heard, though.
