oh i forgted my pastor has a webb site did he tell me about jesus right?

this is from his web site
Father in Heaven I realize in my heart, from your Word, that I am truly a sinner and separated from you!! I want to repent, and I need you to save me. Jesus, I believe in my heart that you paid the penalty for my sins, and I confess this with my words, Lord Jesus!! come into my heart, save me from my sins, help me to overcome my sinful ways. Thank you that you have forgiven me and put me in right standing before God, our father today, and please continue to do your work within me, thank you for coming into my heart today. in your name Jesus amen

It all boils down to who does he say Jesus is. Many use the word 'Jesus' and stuff it with a wholly different meaning than what is revealed in the Bible.

I am not saying that is what your pastor is doing, but it is something of import. One of the main crux questions for us (and it was for Jesus to!) is to ask someone, "who do you say Jesus is?"

Get into the Word and get the Word into you. Study the Bible and test all things in light of what it says.

You should be highly concerned about attending a church where the pastor is against anyone sounding the alarm on known false teachers and false prophets.

Your responsible for your own education on this matter, as a brother/sister in the Lord, it is on me to let you know that.

he gets confusing why does he read from that book?

It seems to be because he thinks (sadly) that Christianity is composed of the Word of Faith false teachers and false prophets that dominate TBN and other "Christian" media outlets.

oh no i think that guy is agnst all churches, i saw what you said on the other page and i will look for that faith pages, but what do i look at?

What do you mean exactly? It terms of a church's statement of faith or ? Are you a new believer? In our day and age it would be of merit for people to be familiar with what "Word of Faith" is (we have an entire thread dedicated to that on this forum).

But the real meat of this issue is to become so familiar with the authentic Word of God that when a counterfeit appears on the horizon you shall know it as such.

Test all things (teachings and practices) in light of the Word of God and see if they are true. Let us not just accept anything and everything simply because it comes from a pulpit.

So? I am a Christian and I read atheist books.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. I know Buddhists and Hindu's that read Joel Osteen's books. My entire point to you can be broken down to three things:

1) It concerns me that any Christian pastor would be against the exposing of false teachers and false prophets, of wolves in sheeps clothing, of merchandisers of men within our church circles.

2) Get into the Word and get the Word into you.

3) Test all things in light of Scripture.

I don't know if you're a new believer, but if so, I admonish you to get equipped (1 Peter 3:15) and know that a lot of what is out there under the banner of Christiandom is indeed anything but.

And Hank's ministry helps equip believers to discern truth from error, which is why it's so valuable and necessary!

colliefan -> RE: Hank Hanegraaf of The Christian Research Institute. (4/23/2008 9:05:11 PM)

Titus 1:7 - 9 (ESV) 7For an overseer,£ as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. 9He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound£ doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Titus 2:1 (ESV) 1But as for you, teach what accords with sound£ doctrine.

1 Tim 6:3 - 5 (ESV) 3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound£ words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

That's great - never forget to test all things in light of Scripture.

As for the links about Hank's selling of merchandise - that is different than those that use God's Word to trick people into giving money in hopes they will receive money back. Let's not confuse two separate issues.

Selling products for money and getting a large salary from hosting a radio show is one thing, right or wrong. But doing so under manipulation and strong arm tactics under the name of God is, in my opinion, a lot different.

Like I told Prophetica earlier on - he has a problem with anyone making any money from Christianity, that is fine and not an issue. The problem is he/she only seems to have a problem with Hank doing it, no one else.

That is between Walter Martin's family and Hank. Walter, when he was still alive, wanted the radio program to continue and he personally picked Hank to continue with it. Many have said that the one son of Walter that is saying Hank stole the program is out for money.

Something I don't know enough about to comment further on. I do hope whatever issues the two parties involved continue to have can be resolved for the benefit of all involved.

wonder why hank (LOL) it has been said, merley signed his name to a book his staff wrote, christanity in crisis fairy tale book, if hank is so smart why did he not realize the reformer john calvin said the same thing about Jesus and hell, that word of faith said. or did he know and just want to sell a book for big bucks?

You keep trying to make the same nonsensical point in two different threads now. What John Calvin said is what is in the Creeds. What Word of Faith superstars say are entirely different things. Instead of linking to an entire blog site, why not actually post what it is you want us to focus on that you think makes your argument?

I sometimes wonder if some posters are not just alters of prophetica.

whats alter of prophetica?
john calvin dedicated several chapters of book institute of christian religion to this one very topic, i suggest you examine link read the chapters and see what john calvin said, it is same as wof said, in the creed it is only one line, without going into any type of a detail.

Friend, I am very familiar with the teachings and writings of John Calvin. What Word of Faithers follow is what E.W. Kenyon (their mentor) made popular a few decades back.

If you would like to continue this discussion in the Word of Faith thread that would be great. Please start with detailing what similarities you're seeing between Calvin's writings on Jesus' atonement and what Word of Faithers such as Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers teach and write about.

Thanks.

LOL! [sm=Llol.gif] This is too hard to explain.

Hey a lot of authors have staff write all or portions of their books. Is that true about "Christianity in Crisis"? I'm going to buy it someday.

He wrote the bulk of it - but like you said - organizations such as that have research teams, writers, etc.. it's a collection of work that is then published via the agreement the parties involved agreed to.
