I'm not sure we could claim David as one of us, but certainly he carries some of his dad's moral conduct with him.
Many people carry Christian moral conducts with them. Doesn't really mean a thing except that they are genuinely nice people.

Rumour has it that he's dating Georgia Moffat, who is Peter Davidson's (he's a former Dr) daughter. She played the Dr's (Tennant's) daughter Jenny not so long back.

Are we confused yet?[:D]

Oh, and apparently the programme that got Tennant interested in acting was Dr Who!

momma-mo -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (9/10/2008 12:38:44 PM)

I've heard that that rumour is not true. My daughter frequents the Doctor Who forums a lot and it looks like that one could be a fake. I don't think David is a born again Christian either. But, we do hope for it someday! I'm happy to see a polite, not so full of himself superstar out there.

ZazzyPaws -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (9/23/2008 8:44:50 PM)

Hey! This thread's been kinda dead! Maybe it's because there aren't any new episodes for a long time.

But I found a couple of gems on youtube, thought I'd share them with you.

The WHOLE message to Martha: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGzSz0KyNI

Also, anyone like my avatar? I made it. :D

momma-mo -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (9/24/2008 10:08:38 AM)

I love the Hamster Dance one. (Mom's favorite). It makes me happy when I'm gloomy.

I'm really going to miss the series this year. It will be torture with just a few specials.

agapetos -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/30/2008 6:31:37 AM)

So, have you heard that David Tennant is leaving after the specials?

Any Brits, there's a clip from 'The Next Doctor' (Christmas special) being shown on Children in Need.

I saw an ad about a new Dr. Who next weekend, Nov 8th??? Is that the Christmas special?

And Tennant is leaving?

but

but

why?[&o]

momma-mo -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/30/2008 11:21:58 AM)

What they are advertising is the series with Donna. I'm going to have my dd check out the new doctor rumour. I will be sad if it's not him.....We will all be sad.....

Is this BBC-America?

yup

doinkdom -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/30/2008 4:41:12 PM)

here's a link to the complete story about Tennant.

Sideways -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/30/2008 10:45:54 PM)

So, if Tennant is Doctor 10, and episodes during the first Doctor indicated he'd already had several regenerations before that, and he's only supposed to get 12 lives.... hasn't he been out of regenerations for a while now?

My hubby just told me that during the Tom Baker years Doctor 11 travels back to in time to steal his former lives? I just started with Doctor 9, so I wouldn't know.

momma-mo -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/30/2008 11:33:37 PM)

We are all stunned and sad.......We had heard the rumours...but, there had been others also.

Sideways -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/31/2008 3:06:55 AM)

Why shocked? Isn't it the way of Doctor Who to constantly reshuffle the companions and doctors?

I think a lot of us just really liked him.

One comment I've seen around is that he is "our children's Tom Baker" - I agree. Although my kids had seen a number of the Tom Baker stories before the revival of the series.

yeah but we all know that Dr. Who isn't really real...

right???? [>:]

I mean of course, he's an actor...but...

right?[&:]

doinkdom -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (10/31/2008 1:08:47 PM)

speaking of David Tennant, here is a BBC article about his current endeavor

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7540819.stm

So...now ya know why we won't see new Dr. Who till next year

Umm, she is rather mistaken.

David Tennant was a well-known actor well before Doctor Who.

I understand that the break was decided upon even before David took up the offer from the Royal Shakespeare Company - presumably to aid the transition between producers, from Russell T. Davies to Stephen Moffat.

And btw, David is not just doing Hamlet (which we are seeing at the end of December), but he is also playing Berowne in Love's Labour's Lost, which we saw last Thursday!! [:)]

Yeah, but she's 19 yo and American, so she doesn't know any better! To us Yanks, David has become (semi-)famous because of Doctor Who. A bunch of US entertainment web sites carried this story last week, which I don't think would have happened even one or two years ago. I know David was in Casanova which aired on our PBS stations - but you can bet few 19 yos watched that! The only thing they would possibly know David from is one of the Harry Potter movies - and David's role was so small that many of them likely would not connect it with the guy who plays The Doctor.

doinkdom -> RE: Dr Who is coming back (11/3/2008 11:05:55 AM)

He was also in a Harry Potter movie.

which was kinda weird, since his character was a total jerk[8|]

I would love to buy a DVD of Tennent's Hamlet.

I found it amusing that theyrefered to PatricK Stewart (who was introduced to the trekkies back in the 80s as a Shakespearian actor) as a Star Trek actor.

No first Doctor episodes indicate that there were any previous regenerations... there couldn't be since the whole concept of regeneration was invented when William Hartnell decided to leave the show because of his health and the writers and producers decided to try to keep the show going without him. Beginning during the Third Doctor's era references are made fairly commonly to the fact that which ever number the actor is, that is the incarnation the Doctor is (ie. the third actor to play the Doctor is the third incarnation of the Doctor, etc.) Also, just to clarify things a little... The Doctor has 12 regenerations. That means he has 13 incarnations. One original life, and 12 renewals (to use the original term the Second Doctor used to describe what happened to him). So no, he hasn't used up all of his incarnations. He still has three (soon to be two) left. However, the Master has been offered a new cycle of regenerations twice, and actually been given them once by the Time Lords, so who knows what could happen if the show lasts long enough for the Doc to use up his last few regenerations in his current cycle.

Your husband is off a bit, but I think what he's referring to is the Original Series story "Trial of a Time Lord", which was a Colin Baker story, not a Tom Baker story. There's a character in the story called "The Valeyard" who the Master describes as being an entity created from the Doctor's darker impulses "between his 12th and final incarnations". His secret purpose in "TOATL" is to destroy the Doctor and inherit his remaining regenerations with the help of corrupt members of the Time Lord High Council.

Couldn't agree more ~ he was well known before playing the doctor...

And he's certainly not dumb![;)]
