DH's birthday is today. I think we're going out to dinner with his aunt and uncle. He wanted to go to a sushi/teppen-yaki place (the ones where they cook the food at the table).

I LOVE those places, and I also love sushi. Unfortunately you can't get that in rural Nebraska.

DH loves them, and I love sushi too. Today was officially the largest restaurant bill we have ever had for just the 2 of us, but it was GOOD. Ah well, birthdays are for splurging a little.

I'm in Nebraska too! But, I'm in the city so there is a good number of decent sushi places around here.

I'm dreading going to the country....but at least I'll be driving to the city for work!

I'm bummed tonight. I finally started studying for the GRE; I haven't signed up for one yet, but I'm not sweating that because I'm taking the online one. I was supposed to graduate this year, but I'll end up graduating in May '09 (because I've been sick and had to withdraw sometimes, etc). That's not why I'm bummed so much though... although it probably should be. (Lol.)

Anyway, one of my friends told me that she and her family are taking a trip to Paris after she graduates. (She graduates in '10, if she's lucky and makes it. It's iffy right now.) I'm inclined to believe it, just because her parents have sprung money for cruises to the Bahamas and similar things in the past. Then I was looking at some of her pics (just browsing), and I came across some of her b'day pics. Her parents took her to an expensive restaurant to celebrate (not uber expensive, but not moderate either-- entrees over $21 each). Although I don't think about it much, sometimes I wish I could do stuff like that... not every day-- just on special occassions. I don't think it's envy, but rather that I think people around me really don't recognize or acknowledge anything I ever do, even in a little way. I guess a b'day isn't an "accomplishment" though, but I've done big things before. :)

I know some of it for me is the fact that she gets a lot of stuff for doing nothing or the wrong thing, when I feel that I'm making an effort to work hard and do what's right and never get anything. Yes, I know it happens a lot. Anyway, it probably doesn't even make sense, but I still said it. :)

Goodnight everybody.

Hi, ladies.

We had 22 people in our place last night. Luckily 6 of them were us! LOL So we have leftovers tonight so I'm enjoying a nice quiet house while DH has the kids at taekwondo. Classical music on while I'm catching up on forums and blogs. Life is sweet!

Catch you later, ladies!

Hi everyone,
Phew what a busy weekend when you a have Mr Grizzly Pants who is teething!!

You all know how hubby got that bike that I didn't want him to get? Well yesterday he went on this big bike ride with some of his friends and there was debris on the road as he was going around the corner on the edge of a 6 metre cliff and his bike slid, he flew off his bike and went under the side rail on the roadside where there was also barbed wire at the bottom i guess to stop people falling through or animals or something or maybe someone was just being silly, anyway, he got stuck under there. Thank GOD he didnt go over he could of been seriously injured or even killed. I was so mad when he came home and told me. His bike is all scratched and dented, have to pay the $500 excess to get it fixed. He still wants to keep riding and wants to drag his bike in 2 weeks time even though the clutch went and the bike is dented.... WHEN WILL HE LEARN?!

Nicole -- I'm so glad he was okay! As I read your post I kept reading faster and faster to the end in hopes that there was a safe ending! That would have been enough for my hubby to call it quits. I pray that he will stay safe.

Hello Sharon! We live on the farm and our town is only 1,000 people so no sushi for me. Im not sure if Lincoln has good sushi. If not then we'd have to drive two hours to Omaha and well, to me it's not worth driving that far just for sushi.[color]

Sharon -- I just read your last post of your blog. How do you like living here? We just moved back a year ago from Orlando Florida and for me it was not a big adjustment since I grew up here, but for my hubby it was a complete culture shock.

Nicole, sorry I should of worded it better I guess. I forgot to mention what was wrong with hubby. He got scratched by the barbed wire on his neck and his neck and back were sore when he got home. I think he is ok today though (he left at 5.30am for work).

Nicole, You worded it well; it was a post that just really caught my attention. I've been reading your posts about him and his bike and this one I thought "OH NO! It finally happened! He got hurt just like she was saying." But boy am I glad my thoughts were wrong.

I'm still dealing with the culture shock and I have been here for 7ish months. It is fun to have a new place to explore and new stuff to see. But it is sooooooooooooooo different from the east coast city life!

So, all that to say I'm not sure if I like it or not. But, that really does not matter because it looks like I'll be here for a long while.

I do know what you mean though. Hubby is really liking it though. He even comments on how he doesn't want to live in Lincoln becuause he does not want to deal with traffic. He is really loving small town life; and I never thought I'd hear him say those words. I too am really happy to be out of the city; though I do miss the convience of things being near by in Orlando. Our house was is a good location to all the major stores. Here we have to drive 15 min on the interstate to the next town just to go to Wal-Mart. In Orlando it was just a skip hop and a jump from the house.

I'm glad your are open to living here and giving it a try. I really thought hubby would lose his mind, but he has pleasantly surprised me. It was the complete opposite for me though. I didn't give it much of a try, but I really did not like living in the city. There's just too many people and with not a moment of peace, I would get cranky really easily.

I have to say that is not always true. DH had a "could have been fatal" car accident two years ago and he has become the most law abiding driver I know, almost to the point of annoying me

He rolled his car 3 times coming through a mountain pass, if he had done it 100 feet earlier he would have gone down the mountain

Well my hubby has had many close calls to do with cars and bikes but he hasn't learned anything. He drove a car off a cliff the day after he asked me out, had 3 guys from youth in it, he was the youth leader, the car rolled and rolled and missed a tree by about half a metre, they all would of died if it had hit the tree. He was a delivery guy for a while in between jobs, he hit kangaroos 2 times, one time the van was fine, the second time it was in the middle of nowhere at 3am and hit a roo and the van rolled and rolled and rolled for metres. All he got was a seatblet burn and a cut hand, again people were amazed he walked from that. And now the bike accident. So he really does need to be careful.

aww Mary is so precious!

Giggles thats awesome!

Stacy, Ive only been to a place like that once and it was on mine and chans year anviersry lol

Nicole (au) sorry to hear about your hubby, glad to hear he was not seriously injured....I started to read your post and thought Oh No.... but glad hear he was okay. Guys are hard head like that my dad got in many wrecks that were fatial and walked away with out a scratch, he has fliped all kinds of cars and trucks, going down moutains....etc.... its amazing how many he has survived, however most of these where when he was young, or when my parents were first married and when i was young.

When I got into a fatial accident it changed my way of driving completely.... even to point where I am parnoid at times when being in a car.

Yikes! Sounds like my DH. Only mine will never learn. He's Lebanese...if he doesn't want something bad to happen to him or his family, it won't.

Well, I thought I was going to have a nice quiet evening last night but the plumber came to fix the master toilet and he had the worst BO you've ever smelled in your life! Poor DH usually watches over people's shoulders the whole time they're working in our place and he kept coming out to the living room for air.

After he left H finally threw up twice after spending the evening whining and crying over her tummy ache. I took her to the clinic and the little paper with my number on it said I checked in at 9:19. We got into the dr about 10 after 10. Luckily it was one that I like and he was pretty thorough. She has infection in one ear and her throat. I'm betting it's from all the dust this weekend that we got out in to go to church. So by the time we got home and we gave her her medicine and got her to bed I was heading to bed around 11:30. Sure glad to be at school where I can relax. LOL

Ciao, ladies.

Hey ladies. I have been doing lots of reading, but not much posting the past several days. Last week was pretty rough and I usually didn't have much of anything that was positive, so I tried the phrase "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" Anyway, this week is off to a better start. Of course, I haven't done much yet. I am off work today for a Brazilian holiday (I have no clue what holiday, just know that we can't hold school today ). I also received an e-mail over the weekend asking me when I would be available for an interview. So I will be calling the school at 1:30 (CST) to interview for a position for next year. Please pray for this!! I am nevous because I haven't done a real interview ever and it has been several years since I even went through an interview process. I have done what I can to prepare, but I really don't know what all they are looking for. Plus, since I did not have a good week at work last week (it seemed everything I did was wrong and the administrator saw every mistake) I keep finding myself questioning my ablity as a teacher. I found some questions online last night that are typically asked in an interview and I was able to answer all of them in a positive manner, but still, I look at all the ways that I failed last week rather than the other 30 weeks this year that I have had sucess. So pray that Satan won't be able to bring up my failures (that I have learned from and repented where needed) and that God will be able to use me to show his light- even in an interview with a public school. Thanks!!! I will let you all know how it goes afterwards

Hope everybody else is having a good day!!! It is a beautiful day here!! Sunny and nice temps. I went for a walk earlier and just loved it!!

Nicole, I am so glad your husband is ok. Was he just driving or "racing"? Lorne's dad goes on bike trips with a bunch of guys all the time. One guy like to speed around corners and went sliding off the road with his bike. Not a good idea at all! I am just glad he is okay (((((hugs)))))) Oh, you know how I mentioned that Lorne doesn't know anyone with a bike? Well, 2 guys from his work are buying bikes now and already bought all the gear. They are buying fast bikes so Lorne won't be wanting to ride with them. The one guy is not very smart so it wouldn't be a good idea to bike near him. Lorne also found out that his boss races his bike at a track all the time. I am just glad Lorne never wants to race. He wants to bike as a hobby and not to be a daredevil.
