When I worked at McD's, if an order was bagged but hadn't left the possession of the employees, it could be put back - the fries into the fry area, the burger into the burger area. As long as it wasn't a special order, it was no problem. Of course, this was back when they didn't make every burger to order, slowing down the process so much that "fast food" and "McDonald's" shouldn't belong in the same sentence. [8D]

We would get wrote up if we did that. I understand that the man orgot his wallet, but that happens sometimes. Should he get coldfood because of his forgetfulness? He got punished because he forgot his wallet! Good customer service dictates that he should have gotten fresh food. You can't have a job if people aren't given good service. Witot him payig for his food, you could have been a step closer to not havng a job! Remember, the customer helps to pay your paycheck, and less customers means less hours!

Of course, since you're in the great state of SC (I was born in Columbia), you've probably had it for a while. The last time I was in SC was Nov. 2001. I don't remember if I went to a McD's or not while I was there, so I couldn't tell you if it was on the menu then or not.

The McD's in Minnesota have had unsweetened tea for a long time. I think the sweet tea (if they have it here) is new. In Ontario, NO ONE sells unsweetened tea. I miss it - I like to sweeten my tea to my own taste.

Well I definitely have had my own experiences at McDonalds. I worked there last year from April to September. I had to quit because we moved. Although some of customers were very rude I still loved working there. It was my first job and it helped that I worked with my friends. I've been on both sides of the fence. I've never been rude but I've been the customer everyone else had to wait on and I've also been the worker putting up with some of the idiotic things people do. We used to have so much fun there. When we would have a slow day and hardly any customers came in, we would all just stand around talking and goofing around since we had no orders. One of my favorite memories is when my friend Bo and I were on table together. We were completely swamped with orders so we decided to make a game out of it. I was on one side and he was on the other and basically we were racing to be the 1st one with their screen cleared. It was fun but I felt kind of bad for the people who got some of my not-so-neat burgers. Hey, you gotta have a little fun right? [:D] My worst experience was when we were closing one night. I had to clean the lobby and restrooms. Well, I went in the men's restroom and talk about gross!!!!!!!!! There was pee left in one of the urinals and one of the toilets weren't even flushed! I made my friend Greg go in and flush both and douse the bathroom in bleach and cleaner before I even went in there again. LOL. No complaints about the women's bathroom. Everything was pretty much spotless.

I have seen some aweful messes in the restrooms where I work at as well. I once had to clean vomit out of the sink! Lol. If you gotta vomit, at least use the toilet. You know what I mean? The men's restroom does tend to get nasty, but I try to pre-clean it so it is not so nasty at the end of my shift. It makes it faster for me to get out, and I think the men take a hint when they have to wait for me to finnish cleaning!

That's funny. Not about the vomit part but the guys waiting. I know quite a few guys who will leave the bathroom clean, as they found it, but the majority of guys are just gross. I really do miss working there though. Even though we moved I was still able to go to the same school. But now that I'm homeschooled (since October), I never get to see any of my friends anymore. I want to go back to work but I'm not sure if I should right now. I have about 7 courses left and I'll be finished with high school. So I was thinking maybe I should just wait until I'm done with school. That way I can work without having to worry about what classes I did and didn't do. Or maybe I can just wait until my brother goes back to school so I can work during the day while he's gone since I have to watch him when he comes home. I'm only taking 2 classes at a time so it wouldn't be that bad. I'm good as long as I have the 3-4 assignments turned in every week. Not sure. I'm contemplating it. Any advice?

My advise would be to wait until you are done with school, and then go back to work, You can't get anywhere in life without an education, and that should come first. You don't have much longer until you are finnished. Just hang in there.

I always feel horribly rude when I need to interrupt a customer's telephone conversation to conduct a transaction while they are checking out. It still surprises me that people will continue a phone conversation while they are making purchases. My sister told me about businesses in her part of the country that are posting signs that there will be no service while on cell phones. I just did a quick Internet search and it looks like this is becoming a trend...there were even businesses that sold "no cell phone" signs.

I understand the need to use your cell phone, but I think the signs are a good idea. That will make it easier to serve the customer, andwe can make sure hat their order is right. In my experience, half of te orders that are give out wrong are due to the act that the customer was so busy talking that they forgot to specify that didn't want certain things on their food! Then, they get mad because they say that you didn't ring their order up right. It is very frustating sometimes, and I know that all peple in service areas experience this type of frustration. It is nice to see that some employers are finally doing something about it.

What I can't stand is when people are talking on one of the hands-free sets and you're trying to wait on them. You can't always tell if they're talking to you or to the person on the phone.

I know! Then, they get mad because you interupt their conversation, even though you are trying to take their order! Sometimes people are so rude. I think it all stems back to people not being taught manners by their children.

Thay are testing it in some US markets though. anyways about the guy who forgot his wallet, couldn't someone be nice enough (ie the manager) to give him his lunch and make his day? I know he would come back. G

I won't be doing this much longer either....My husband finally got a job making enough for me to stay at home with our six kids. I don't know whether that is good or not.

It's not just fast food and customer service people that get the rudeness. I'm in vocational school and at least once a day some one in class will get a phone call on a cell phone. Now I know some have kids and emergencies happen, I'm a 40+ mom of 3, but everyday! I worked at Wal-mart for 5 years so I've seen rudeness on both sides. One thing I make an effort to do, if I get a really good cashier, is to thank them and then to find a manager to tell. Hopefully the word gets back to the employee and they are better appreciated by their supervisors. To the original poster, thank you for being a light in the world for our Lord. God put me into this job for a reason. I come in contact with so many peope who are hurting who don't know anything about Jesus. I make no distinction between people because of who they are. I only want to love them as Christ would love them. He has blessed me in a million small ways for my service to Him in my job. A smile here, a thank you there, it realy adds up. The proudest moment of my life was leading a lady to Christ after I got off work one night. I opened thedoor by giving her the extra money that she needed to feed her children. Amazing what God can do with one simple kindness.[:)]
