ORIGINAL: DaveW Isn't that a bit like saying I like this more than having people drill holes in the back of my head? On 2nd thought, having holes drilled is better than watching Martha Stewart. Speaking of Miss Martha...I was in line at Wal-Mart and this lady in front of me in full Harly Davidson attire (and not NEW HD stuff, but older attire that give me the impression she'd been a biker chick for many years) was reading a Martha Stewart Living magazine and commenting on what she liked to her husband who was also decked in the same kind of clothes. For some reason, it just struck me as hysterically funny. Martha Stewart on a Harly... Yeh, I went home and repented after drying the tears of laughter from my eyes.

ORIGINAL: _Cinderella_ She has too much Starbucks... Speaking of Starbucks--or more accurately, Dunkin' Donuts, have you guys heard about that advertising flap Rachel Ray got for wearing a keffiyeh (sp?) on air? For those of us who aren't that well-versed in political fashion do's and don'ts, the aforementioned scarf has been synonymous with Islamic/Arabic terrorism by the likes of the late Yassir Arafat--especially in this 9-11 age. Now while I don't like getting into some big stink over a piece of garment (which in my honest opinion, shouldn't be that controversially-prone as say, a Che Guevara Tee), still, I think someone in the wardrobe dept. should have taken some steps in avoiding this gaffe--especially if memory serves me correctly, wasn't this recently-pulled ad was filmed in New York City?

I subscribe to her magazine (though they sent me one issue back in November and I haven't seen one since) and I must say this is the best way for me to get my Rachael Ray fix. I used to watch the show, but after a while I just couldn't take it anymore. And now that I read the magazine, it's really just a repeat of what she does on her show, so I don't need both.

I think I've seen her show a couple of times... To me, she is a product of media promotion, nothing extra-ordinary, just media promotion..or creation I should say... So many talk shows are so contrived.... C

I used to watch her show quite often, almost daily actually. But it got to be too much. Now I just check out her website every couple of weeks. I sometimes borrow her magazine from the library too, but that's about it. My reasons for tuning out of the show were mainly the cutesy talk and the over excitement with guests. Most of her recipes are great and I really like that she provides a "grocery list" ahead of time online so you can be prepared. I only tune in to Martha if she's doing a scrapbooking or kids' craft segment, and even then it's hard to watch.

I am so happy to read this thread. I thought I was un-American or something for not liking little Miss Sunshine. I love the Food Network, but have to change the channel when RR comes on.

ORIGINAL: peculiar_lady2 I like her recipes mostly, but I can not stand her voice!!! It grates on my nerves most of the time...so I only watch her occasionally...when I can handle her voice or when the recipe really sounds good. Oh wow, I feel exactly the same. When I first began watching her show (the 30Min Meals one), she was alright. Then the continuous chatter stream begun to build in annoyance, until I now I mostly watch when she's preparing something irresistible. I think Paula Deen beats her out by just a smidgen with who has the most grating voice. frog43: "Little Miss Sunshine." Hehehe! Ideal for Racheal.
