I'm sad for the children that CPS screwed up. And I do think CPS completely messed this up by "raiding" and taking all the children and doing the whole mother-child separation thing. Dumb. According to people who have left, CPS has been ignoring individual pleas for help or returning minors who tried to flee for years and years. What suddenly made them think this was a good idea?

I *do* think abuse of different kinds is rampant in the sect (it is the kind of setup that breeds abuse), but I guess now that the state has screwed up it'll be another 50 years before anyone else gets help.

I'm still reeling from Carolyn Jessop's book, so maybe that is clouding my thinking on this.

I agree with you. I have no doubt that the people who were really abusing their children will get into any trouble now. Perhaps it will shake them up enough to stop or at least we can pray for that.

The Third Court of Appeals last week that the state failed to show that any more than five of the teenage girls were being sexually abused, and had offered no evidence of sexual or physical abuse against the other children...

In an ongoing criminal investigation separate from the custody dispute, Texas authorities collected DNA swabs Thursday from sect leader Warren Jeffs. A search warrant for the DNA alleges that Jeffs had "spiritual" marriages with four girls, ages 12 to 15.
