Well what Joe-Joe( as I like to call him) didn't tell yall is that they were in Lula, Ga Sunday night and we had CHURCH!!! Yall hear me?? It was wonderful. I have to say coming from a very traditional Pentecostal background, I am used to very worshipful services. The sweetest people at Mt Carmel 'bout worshiped us under the table. We laughed and cried , some shouted. The Diplomats, they follow the leading of the Holy Ghost.
I cannot tell you how much we love them. If your church is need of a revival or a camp meeting style singing,, book them. Ms. Rita just sang her heart out. All were in GREAT voice last night. And Corey, Joe and Michael, you are forgiven for nearly giving me a heart attack. WE LOVE YALL!!

joebrown55 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/1/2008 6:29:41 PM)

Rebecca11368 thanks for the kind words. We did have a time in Lula, GA. Them folks know how to get a service going. Thank yall for being there. It's always a pleasure to look out in the crowd and see you and Steve. God Bless yall. Sorry bout the snake....had to do it!!! Don't be so hard on my buddy Steve. Keep up the good singing...
God Bless

Rebecca11368 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/2/2008 10:49:41 AM)

I Miss them already Robert!!
I hope they are having a blast, don't you??
They deserve it![:D]

robertyork -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/2/2008 10:51:38 AM)

They're probably cooling it somewhere......Cory and his family are probably at the beach. Joe....laying around the house. Jimmy & Rita are probably staying close to home.

joebrown55 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/5/2008 5:59:35 PM)

Robert, I couldn't have said it better. That's exactly what we are doing. It's nice to get a break, but I start missing singing after about a week. Also pray for my wife. She broke her ankle in 3 places and dislocated
her foot. She will be having surgery Monday to have a plate and 3 pins where it can heal. So yes Robert, I have been close to home...

robertyork -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/5/2008 6:22:12 PM)

Joe we will be praying for your wife. Praying that the surgery will go good on Monday and that she heals swiftly.

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/5/2008 6:24:30 PM)

Yes, will be praying.

So sorry to hear about her ankle/foot. I'll be praying for her. I have a pin in the top of my foot, so I know what she'll be going through for the next few months.

Rebecca11368 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/7/2008 11:39:03 AM)

Joe,
We are praying for Debbie and you, too, because she will be dependant on you during her recovery.
If Steve and I can do ANYTHING for yall just call me Corey and Rita have my cell number.

bulba2 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 1:17:19 PM)

Hello just and update on Joe Brown wife Debbie who many know by now broke her foot in three places last week. Debbie had surgery last Monday and will not be able to put any weight on her foot for about 8 weeks, then will have to be in a cast for another 8 weeks. Rita and Myseft visited Debbie and she is having a lot of pain. Please keep the Brown family in your prayers that God will help them during this time of healing.

robertyork -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 1:28:37 PM)

Thanks for the update on Debbie. Hope y'all enjoyed the vacation and are ready to get back on the road.
I had ankle surgery several years ago and couldn't put any weight on my foot. I know what she'll be going through. It's tough. Will be praying for her and your mom also.

Rebecca11368 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 1:56:01 PM)

Glad yall are home safe!!
We are praying for them daily!!!

robertyork -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 2:15:17 PM)

Diplomats are going to be at Hiawassee, GA - Georgia Mountain Fair - October 19 at 2:00 along with Isaacs and Karen Peck and New River.
Think the Diplomats will be doing the morning worship service once again this year at 11:00 am.

added: I forgot they are going to be in Gainesville August 2 for the St. Jude Children's Benefit Singing at the Georgia Mountain Center. Starts at 6:00, other artist includes, Inspirations, Mark Trammell Trio, Karen Peck & New River, Called Out and Stanley Pierce.

joebrown55 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 4:40:46 PM)

Thanks gang for all the prayers for Debbie. We are at home doing as well as we can. Deb does have a good bit of pain, but the Lord and the meds have kept it down to bearable. Deb gets around on a walker and crutches. She does better with the walker. I have told her she looks like Otis Campbell on crutches. REALLY! Anyway thank you all for the prayers and thoughts. I know how powerful prayer is. Hope to see yall soon.
God Bless

Qtman -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 4:48:00 PM)

Glad to hear she is doing so well Joe. I know from first hand experience when our spouse hurt we hurt. God be with you both.

robertyork -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/10/2008 5:10:16 PM)

Thanks for the update Joe. We will keep Debbie in our prayers. You keep her on the walker. Don't let her put weight on that foot and mess it up. I know it's hard not to want to use the foot. And Joe you take care of yourself also. Hope someone is going to be able to stay with her while you are away singing.

joebrown55 -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/14/2008 6:48:26 PM)

Thanks Robert,
Thanks for the prayers. As of now, Deb doesn't have any problem keeping that foot off the floor!. Jimmy & Rita brought her a wheelchair and walker and she does get around a little in the house. My precious daughters are keeping her company when I have to go sing. So far that has worked for us. I keep her on my mind every minute I'm gone. I worry too much for I know the Lord has everything in control. But it's still hard to leave her. I've had her by my side for 32 years and hope for many more. Thanks my friend for asking about my love.
God Bless You
Joe

Ya'll remember Jimmy's mother and the family in prayer. If she lives till the 28th she will be 100, but she took a turn for the worse last night. Hospice was called in and as of a few minutes ago she was only breathing about 5 times a minute. I know the family would appreciate your prayers at this difficult time.

jchaz -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/24/2008 11:58:22 AM)

Corey called me a little while ago and said that Granny passed away about 1:30 this morning. Rita had sent Jimmy & his sister Wanda home, ad she was there with Mrs. Pearson when she died. She called Corey and he was there within a few minutes. He told me the name of the funeral home, but at this second, I don't really remember it. When I get details, I'll post more. The Dip's bus driver, Kevin (BigCntry) or their bass singer, Joe (joebrown55) will probably be on here soon, too. They'll probably all know what the schedule will be like for the weekend.

Corey said that the plan as it stands now, is for a viewing tomorrow, and a funeral sometime Saturday. I'm guessing that the Diplomat's dates will be canceled, but we'll wait for official word from Jimmy. They were to be at MTT's Homecoming on Friday and KP&NR's Homecoming on Saturday. In theory, if the funeral was early Saturday, they could still possibly make it Saturday night, but I personally don't think I'd try it, if it were me.

I know this has GOT to be hard on Jimmy. He's talked from the stage about his sweet, little Mama, and her prayers for as long as I've known him. They were truly best friends. In the last few years, he literally would make multiple stops at the Nursing Home everyday that they weren't on the road. That's a rare -- but admirable -- love, these days. I know I always enjoyed having conversations with Mrs. P. over the years. She was a sweetie, and, like The Cookes sing, "Heaven couldn't welcome a sweeter Mama!"

Thanks for the update, Charlie.
I talked to Joe Brown yesterday, so this came as no surprise.
Bless Jimmy's heart.....anybody who knows him knows how much he loved his momma.
She would have been 100 on the 28th.
Please let him know I'm praying for him.

The funeral home is:
J Collins Funeral Home
(770) 459-6090
206 S Carroll Road Villa Rica, GA 30180

GVfan -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/24/2008 2:01:36 PM)

I'm praying for the family.

JimC -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/24/2008 2:47:38 PM)

I just talked to the funeral home.

The visitation will be Friday 6-8.
Funeral is at 11am Saturday at Fullerville Baptist Church in Villa Rica.

BigCntry -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/24/2008 5:51:25 PM)

The information posted so far is accurate. As Charlie thought, the group will not make any dates this weekend. With the current economic situation, missing these dates will be an added difficulty; though small in comparison to their loss. Please continue in prayer for the family.

BigCntry -> RE: The Diplomats Thread (7/24/2008 8:47:14 PM)

New information, they will be going to Karen's homecoming on Saturday evening after all. Sorry for any confusion, things sometimes change in these situations.
