Last night was really enjoyable at Fullerville. The crowd was good, and they were ready & primed for some "good sangin' ". The program opened with two local groups. I can't remember the name of the 2nd one, but the first was "Truly Exalted". They are a sweet family group from the local area. They were pretty good. I had a feeling this was their first major concert. A few nerves showed, but their singing was A-OK. The second group was a male trio. Their harmony was OK, but they sang WAY too long for an opening act. They seemed to try to imitate some of the old legends that have passed away, like Hess, Payne & Blackwood. It was good, but you could sense the crowd was anxious for The Diplomats to grace the stage. They came on strong, and took us to the Heavenlies with their trademark, spiritual singing. Mrs. Rita took her a little spell. It was WONDERFUL! Then, when things kinda calmed down for a second, the guys did a new comedy take on Joe-Joe's "Walk That Lonesome Road". Jim & Mike kept backing off the stage, out of Joe & Corey's way, so they could 'shine'. It was SO funny. They brought Les Beasley on for a few songs, and that was pretty special. He's a cool dude. Then, the Men From The Mountains took the stage, and gave a trademark rapid-fire performance, featuring each member, and showcasing the new lead, young David Reagan. Martin's "Philippino" introduction of him was cute. Melton tore it up with "The Rose Arose", and David captivated the audience with "I Have Not Forgotten". I've never cared for that song, but last night, it just hit me right. That new kid's pretty good-- and a classic Inspiration-- clean cut, polite, and just an all around good guy. Afterwards, I enjoyed cuttin up with my old friend Mylon Cook. He's a hoot-and-a-half, if there ever was one. Dr. Jerry Goff was in attendance last night, as well as Anita Duggar, the wife of the 1990 SN SuperFan Award winner, the late Dr. J. Donald Duggar. It was good to see my friends Carol & Bobby York there, too. I just love them to death! Of course, Danny Jones with The Singing News was there again, as was Bill Bailey. I get tickled everytime he pitches his latest CD special. Especially whenever he says something about 'our record company'... when in fact, he's just pushing old Benson & Homeland label re-releases that were probably wholesaled out to flea markets, or something. It' amazing to me. But, the people eat it up, or should I say, buy it up. Well, like my Granmaw used to say, "Git it however ya can!" I guess... But, it noticeably hurt the other group's sales. That bothers me, but maybe I'm just weird. I ddid want to mention something that I picked up on. I noticed that The Diplomats removed their Singing News display this weekend, out of respect for Danny Jones. Whenever people asked for them, they gladly referred them to 'next door' to Danny's table. I thought that was pretty cool. They wanted him to get all the sales. You don't find that kind of thoughtfulness out of every group! I think it's pretty awesome that they thought of that. Anyway...enough "soap-boxin'... " All in all, it's been a great 2 nights here in West Georgia. Looking forward to a huge NYE event with The Dips, Karen Peck, & The Kingsmen. Then about 2 weeks after that, The Booth Brothers are coming back to The 'Ville. Are we blessed or what? Hope to see ya'll there!!!

We talked about how that hurt sales for other artist on the way home. And I've seen the Dips remove the Singing News from their table at every concert they've been at when Danny was there, even in Hiawassee this year the removed them. Was also good to see you and mrscripture there. Looking forward to the New Years Eve Celebration. Notice it starts at 6:00 instead of 7:00. Great line up of artist including The Kingsmen, Karen Peck & New River, Les Beasley and of course the Host Group The Diplomats. Danny Jones is scheduled to be the Master of Ceremonies. There will also be the New Haven Church Coir from Chattanoga, TN.

Why would Bill Bailey be there, and be allowed to push his products. He is a promoter but i don't think he promoted this event????

I am new to this board, but I did want to correct this bit….. I live in the Bowdon area and have heard the group Truly Exalted several times. As a matter of fact they were in service with us a couple of weeks ago. The group has only been together for a little over a year. There are 4 members Nathan Smith, Jonathan Smith, Kimberly McDowell, and Meredith McDowell. Nathan and Jonathan are father and son; Kimberly and Meredith are sisters…. But as far as I know Nathan/Jonathan and Kimberly/Meredith are not related. They are just friends that started a group. Yes, I think it is correct that this was their first major concert appearance, but I thought they did a great job. To be a new group just starting out, I think their harmonies are great. I also bought one of their new CDs that Corey Pearson did for them and let me tell you it is wonderful. My favorite song is “Even in the Valley” They did not get to sing it at Fullerville because of time, but it is a beautiful song. Maybe I am just fond of them, because I know how they are off stage. They are good people. They sing for the right reasons and don’t get up there just to perform. That is the same reason I love the Diplomats so much. They have always been so kind to me and my family. And Rita can flat tear it up Anyway, I just wanted say I too enjoyed the Diplomat Thanksgiving concert. I thought all the groups were great! Can’t wait for New Years Eve. ~God Bless~

Thanks, MM115! I appreciate your post. For some reason, I thought Nathan and the McDowell girls were cousins, but I guess not, huh? Either way, like I said earlier, they are good singers, and sweet people. I feel that this concert was a pivotal place in their ministry, and that they'll be making their mark in the West GA area in the very near future. We certainly need more sincere groups like theirs! I hope that they'll just "stick with the stuff", and keep striving to be the very best they can be. I can't wait to see them again. They were a blessing. I especially liked the old song by Debra Shepherd "Friend Of God". It was beautiful.

The Diplomats were on a 2 hour live talk show yesterday in Ellijay, GA with former Inspirations lead singer, Matt Dibler. If you want to see the show, it should re-air 3 times this coming Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) at 8:30 am, 6 pm and 11:30 pm, Eastern time. This channel can be seen on their website, North Georgia Now Just click on the flashing text that says "Watch Live Shows Now" during those times above. Try to catch it, if you can, and watch for me playing piano on a few impromptu songs with SG's newest group, "Dib & The Dips"... (j/k!) Seriously, Lemmeknow what you think!

Yep, That's what I hear, too. I think it's gonna be on Friday night. I was pickin' at Miz Rita last night, telling her that they were gonna bring back the revolving stage. She thought I was serious. She said, "Well, if they do, you'll have to stay close by with a bucket in hand. I might get sick!" She's SO funny!! Seriously, I hope that nothing prevents them from getting to sing on the Main Stage at NQC. God has really blessed them lately for their faithfulness in the small things, so I'm expecting that He'll reward them in a HUGE way by putting them in front of many more people to minister to. I know that they are sincerely humbled by this latest achievement. I just personally hope they get a great time slot, so they get maximum exposure! I also hope they advance in the awards nominations this year. They aren't hung up on that, by any means, but I think they do deserve some nominations, and maybe even a win. They'd never ask for it, but as a friend, and a fan, I don't mind asking... Keep them in mind when you fill out your ballots. It'll be here before you know it!! I especially think CoCo (Corey) should be up for Musician of the Year. That guy can play ANYTHING, and play it well!

Charlie,, Guess what>>>>>> I had a KIDNEY STONE last Tuesday. I worked ALL DAY limping and crying around here. This was my 5th or 6th one, but praise GOD I passed it Tuesday night. WITHOUT any help. HA HA HA HEY wouldn't it be great if we could all go to the NQC next year to see our buddies, the DIPS??!! I agree, Corey should be nominated for musician of the year. Remind me to tell you what this elderly lady told one of the young girls to do for her kids ear infection,,,,,,TALK ABOUT HOME REMEDIES!!! We are so excited also about the BBros coming to the "Rica".

Please keep Jimmy Pearson in your prayers. Rita called and said he was having chest pain all day and she finally talked him into going to the hospital to get checked out. No word yet on any of the test, but will update as soon as I know something. please pray Joe

I don't have many details at the present, but Joe Brown just called, and said that Jimmy Pearson was in the ER tonight with chest pains. Apparently, they are checking him over, and feel that it just might be acid reflux. Either way, let's pray for our friend. Some of us will give an update as soon as we know something. -- edit -- Looks like Joe & I posted about the same time...
