When I have what my dr calls excema (which I don't believe it is) the only thing I have found that works is Aveeno cream in the tub with the menthol. It flares up in the winter and I switch to all Aveeno products for a while... body wash and oatmeal baths.

ORIGINAL: InBetweenDreams Has he tried taking benadryl? Is he eating something new? It could be a heat rash. My dad get those on his chest by his neck. It looks horrible! Tell your hubby to try his darndest not to scratch that area because that could be making it worse. I've suggested Benadryl, but it totally puts him into lala land, so its pretty much out of the question unless we're REALLY desperate. If its still bad after tomorrow I may try to convince him to take a half of one just so he can get some sleep. He slept on the couch last night and said that wasn't too bad until the cat woke him up. Something about laying down makes it worse- although I know it isn't the sheets.

Stacy, it very well could be allergies. It's not uncommon or unheard of for adults to become allergic to things they never had any problem with before.

Problem is that we can't figure out what he could be allergic to. Since its only on his back my thinking would be something touching his skin, but we've washed everything (we use Tide Free with no fabric softener, and have for years). I think its still getting better, so maybe it will pass. He had something we suspect was an allergic reaction (or some sort of odd side effect of being sick), right after Thanksgiving last year. His hands itched and swelled up (that's how we know Benadryl is only a last resort).

You don't have insurance, right? Micah gets what we call "The Plague", it's just a random rash/skin issue that has happened on his hands, groin, foot, and knee. The worst was after our wedding. Anyway, no doctor has ever really been able to say what it was, they just prescribed a steroid cream and kinda brushed him off. He found some relief from alcohol pads and aloe gel w/ lidocaine. Maybe you could try that?

Yup, no insurance We did try aloe gel, and cortizone cream. I haven't seen lidocaine in anything. I think we're through the worst of it now, thankfully. Its been looking better since we started the coconut oil, and he hasn't been complaining about it itching as much.

CVS has 10 extra buck back when you but $25 in Aveeno products, if you want to try that.

I am a facialist by trade. If you purchase store bought items, only a very little in them is good. If you have a 2 ounce jar of cream with vitamins, how large a part of that cream do you think the vitamins are? Okay, you are spending 30 to 50 bucks for this cream, so you need to realize how much good out of it you are going to get. Did you know that only 2% of any active ingredient gets to your skin when you take a product orally? So, either by ingesting vitamins, or using a cream to apply them, you don't get much good at all. If, however, you take a vitamin E or whatever vitamin, capsule and **** it, apply to face, your skin is getting more than that great cream you bought at the counter. I used to make my own items for customers. We learned cosmetic chemistry. Take a vegetarian enzyme capsule, add it to your yogurt. Let it sit for 30 minues, then apply to face. You want the time for the enzyme to dissolve into the yogurt. If you think you have soft skin now, wow! This will really blow you away.

Strawberry Hand and Foot Exfoliant 8-10 Strawberries 2 tablespoons Apricot Oil (you may substitute olive oil) 1 teaspoon of coarse salt, such as Kosher Salt, or Sea Salt Mix together all ingredients, massage into hands and feet, rinse, and pat dry. Strawberries contain a natural fruit acid which aids in exfoliation.
