By some remote chance ever did you read The Autobiography of Malcom X

No, I do not read puff peices. Non-fiction is a lot better.

Like I plainly explained earlier in this thread, what you know and read is part of his life in which he was under the racist teachings of Elijah Muhammad. All that change when he return back from Mecca and in the end his change cost him his life. Yes, he spoke racism/hatred in response to racism/hatred, but that was not the end product of Malcolm X. See, the problem with a lot of you all on here, you claim you know history, but you only know bits and pieces of the whole story. You leave out stuff purposely or leave it out due to ignorance in an attempt validate your weak argument. RC you don't know it all, you think you do because of your age, but that does not mean your any wiser or knowledgeable.

Well one thing I do not accept is "Revisionist history". Which is what you are purorting.

Thanks
RC

I don't know hey, time passages. RC seems to have much spirit and vigor, and maybe offensive to some, but respect he is straight up I do. In the Bible we are not to rebuke elders anyway.

RC is elderly? Does not seem so.

If he "was alive and well" during the later years of Malcolm X's life, he's no spring chicken.

It was "racist" and "bigoted" because the governor and the mayor impeded every effort early on? The mayor had MANY opportunities to get ALOT of people out of town before the storm hit, and yet, didn't do a THING. (except try to blame everyone but himself for the later failures)

That the mayor and governor, for YEARS, didn't do anything to improve the levee system....yet, even my wife (who grew up down there...south of new orleans), had been telling me for 10+ years "if new orleans gets hit, it'll be underwater"...EVERYONE knew it...and, yet, NOTHING was done....

and, yet, Bush is "racist" and "bigoted" because of local and state failures to act?

same thing would have happened had any other person been President....(especially anyone with an (R) next to their name instead of a (D)....)

you want to talk "Racist"....the mayor of New Orleans has Bush beat by a mile!

Is that the only "example" you have?

Ask one of Bush's many, many "minority" appointees, and cabinet members how "racist" he is.....

I was hoping you did'nt throw up someone else that screwed up during Katrina. I agree, they just as bad, BUT that don't take away from what President Bush did during it all. He is the Commander In Chief.

That was the only sample I Tracy needed, no matter what anyones says now, I know what I seen with my own eyes.

wow you are accusing me of historical revisionism, that's laughable. If you open a book and do some reading you would know what I stated is FACT. You guys kill me with your bits and pieces of history. Get the whole story and then we can have a viable conversation. That's the main reason why you and people like you have these biases because you are stuck on one POV of history instead of researching everything. If you like I can state historical facts of how Malcolm X change his life and became Malik El Shabazz.

Anyway, back to the original subject.

Alan Keyes was someone I hoped would have been given a longer look. What exactly was wrong with him?

J. C. Watts has potential also.

On the other side of the aisle, there's 5-term Democratic Tennessee congressman Harold Ford. Ford opposes gay marriage, is pro-life, and voted to allow school prayer and public display of the 10 Commandments.

- Julius

I haven't read this whole thread, but that is the name I was skimming to find. ALAN KEYES

For years, my husband and I have wondered why he wasn't given more prominent consideration in politics. I don't follow anyone closely on their stand until they throw their lot into the elections for real. But it's about pro-life first for me. That's the marker they gotta stand strong on, especially this year. I think God is gonna judge our nation harshly if the silent screams and torture/murder of the unborn are allowed to continue.

Secondly, will he keep our nation secure yet maintain a Godly, moral character. You know... wisdom seasoned with mercy and decency to all people.

Color of skin, simply isn't an issue. I had always thought Fred Thompson would be a good president and that I would likely vote for him. But while I still like him, I found him to seem not very enthusiastic or focused as I thought he would be. So even with Alan Keyes, I'm not sure, until he starts the race and convinces me where he would stand on key issues as president.

But I just did a search and I was extremely disappointed, yet very excited over an article I found. Alan Keyes is actually planning to make a run for the presidency at some point. Not sure if it will be this year. But I was disappointed in that I haven't heard anything in the media concerning his withdrawal from the GOP, and consideration of the Constitution Party.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/alankeyeswho.html

It's not Obama's skin color that makes me suspicious. It's his stand on certain policies, the hint of hate-issues that seem to linger in the air when ever he's around, and his failure to really convince me of who he is as a person and as someone who would oversee my nation.

Not all Muslims are evil, but Islam as a religion seems to rule with violence to enforce it's domination in every society and culture that it is allowed to permeate. Not just in the past, but thru out it 's history and even up to today. YES, there are non-violent muslims, but the religion is extremely intolerant when it gains a stronghold in a society. Step back, take some time to hear the stories of people who have tried to leave that religion or who have rejected it. There is no freedom of choice for them, only persecution, hate, rejection and death.

It is more the smell of Islam upon Obama than the color of his skin that concerns me. He could be purple, gold, or silver and it wouldn't matter, if his character convinced me that he was a leader that had a conscience concerning matters that would affect the welfare of ALL the people of this nation. I'm not convinced that Obama has that kind of character.

But Alan Keyes... I would love to hear more from that man. If he can convince me that he is all that he seems to be, I wouldn't have a problem voting for him at all.

If he ran this year... that would be a concern for me. With so much controversy swirling around Hillary and Obama, I would be afraid to see Conservatives split the vote between McCain and Keyes and risk either of the current Dem candidates winning this thing.

wow, I just thought of a sure way, McCain could run away with this election. If the GOP would wise up and BEG Alan Keyes to return to the party and pair him with McCain as a running mate. I wouldn't flinch in voting for that duo. I think most Conservatives would be very pleased to trust our nation to a magic combo such as that! And if his character stands true, I wouldn't hesitate to vote Keyes in as President after McCain's run.
