ORIGINAL: eligirl123 Ive been reading on the resurrection. The page I was reading said that the jewish temple will be built, 3 years later (or something like that) the antichrist will take it over. Now if (as they say) Jesus will not come till after the temple is built, wont most cristians be killed by the antichrist along that time period. Shalom, eligirl123! There are differences of opinion in the fulfillment of the prophecies. The whole "seven years of tribulation" concept, based on the 70th "Week" of years found in Daniel 9, I reject. I believe that a proper understanding of the last four verses of Daniel 9 give us a different scenario: The first three and a half years were before the Messiah was "cut off," i.e., His ministry from His Immersion to His Death. The last three and a half years will be after the "times of the Goyim (Gentiles)." Thus, IMO, there are only three and a half years of "tribulation" left! The Second Coming with the Rapture of the saints immediately preceding it is predicted as the Rescue of Isra'el, in particular those who are being oppressed and persecuted in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem). It will be a time of attempted genocide! Isra'el's neighbors will be trying to exterminate the Jews! When they cry out to God with the words, "Baruwk haba' b'shem YHVH!" translated "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD" and means "Welcome is he who comes on the authority of YHVH," THEN the Messiah Yeshua` (the Christ Jesus) will return and rescue His people. This He predicted in Matthew 23:37-39. Matt 23:37-39 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. KJV Immediately after this, Yeshua` gives the "Olivet Discourse" in which He predicts the end times events: Matt. 24 & 25, Mark 13, and Luke 21. Notice the careful wording of verse 38. This is the fulfillment of Dani'el's prophecy in Dan. 9. Thus, HE is the one who "desolates" Isra'el! Nevertheless, it is not so much He who desolates them and they do it to themselves! Furthermore, although Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) does predict a future Temple, the desecration of the Temple, IMO, was forced by the death of Yeshua`s broken body. When He died, the veil in the Temple was ripped from the top to the bottom, a formidable task for any one human being! Thus, with His death completing the only Sacrifice needed from then on, GOD no longer accepted animal sacrifices to take away sin. HE was the One who "caused the sacrifice and the oblation to cease!" The overspreading of abominations that caused them to be desolate was, IMO, the REJECTION of Yeshua` as their Messiah. Antichrist is not a person; it is a SPIRIT, an ATTITUDE! Furthermore, specifically, it is the attitude that says that Yeshua` was not the Messiah coming in the flesh! That's not to say there isn't a "man of sin" or a "man of lawlessness" (one who refuses to keep the Torah), and that's not to say that there isn't a "beast" in Revelation 13 that comes up out of the sea. It's just wrong to call these the "Antichrist." Retrobyter
