Do you have an amazing Bible facts to share?

Here are some:

There were over 2,000,000 Children of Israel set out to travel to the Promised Land but only 2 of the original 2,000,000 actually entered therein. The journey should only have taken 11 days but it took them 40 years to get there! It wasn't their enemies which prevented them from entering the Promised Land - it was their own ungodly/bad attitude!

That God chose some real scoundrals to be listed forever in the "Hall of Faith"[8D]

Heb 11:31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
Heb 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

Rahab - a harlot
Gedeon - full of fear
Samson - full of the flesh
David - an adulterer and murderer

If God calls them champions of our faith, there is hope for me; there is hope for anyone[:D]

Concerning Jesus' sufferings and some of the torture He endured:

Isaiah 50: 6
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Many Christians know that Jesus was beaten and bruised as part of the torture He endured for us pre-Calvary but they are not aware that even His beard was plucked out! It was bad enough that a crown of thorns was forced down upon His head but His torturers inflicted pain on almost every inch of His face and disfigured Him in this horrible cruel way also.

Please stop and think about this a moment and thank Him for all He endured.

The "eye of the needle" was a small city gate that was too small for a camel to pass through (A. Just, Luke 9:51-24:53, Concordia Publishing House, 1997, p. 699 n. 21)

Jesus never said, "Verily I say unto you..."

Or anything else in King James English. Or any other form of English.

SonInMe1 -> RE: Do you have any amazing Bible facts to share? (4/18/2008 9:54:23 PM)

There are no women teachers of men or spitirual leaders in the bible.

Baptism won't save you, and repentence won't save you and righteous acts will not save you. These are all results of your salvation.

BOTH predestination and free will are in the bible.

Tithes are a NT and OT way of supporting the church. Offerings are for ministries. Its not a "manditory" rule but don't expect financial blessings if you do not participate.

No christian is sinless. Peter and Paul had a few disagreements and there was that thorn thing to keep Paul humble ( to me this suggests Paul was indeed....married [:D] )

Peter was fishing naked, after the crucifixion, when Jesus was cooking breakfast on shore. Wonder why? When he saw Jesus and put his clothes back on. When he called his first followers they ask where he lived? He said "Come and see" and they went to his house and hung out all day. I thinking of this was something young men woud do, laughing, talking, hanging out and such In the book of Mark, Jesus was arguing with the Pharisees, they were saying he had devils, his family was at the door including Mary, they came to put him away, saying he was crazy; kind of like the Pharisees saying he had devils, because mental illness, was associated with demons in that era. I wonder why Mary went with the brothers and sisters. At the Cross, Jesus ask John to take care of Mary, I wonder why? because Jesus had siblings such as James, and Jude. Mary lived with John until she died though. So many, Many cool facts in the Bible. More later, this interest me so much, seeing the human side, and family relationships of Jesus.

SonInMe - with all due respect and concern - have you actually studied the evidence for and against as you have quoted above or are you accepting someone else's word concerning this matter of women regarding teaching?

Right after I read this post this morning, I was reading my Bible and this is what I was reading: Judges 4:4-10 Link to Judges 4:4-10. The Prophetess Deborah was a much esteemed judge in Israel who loved God and served Him faithfully. The Children of Israel respected her and even the Commander of the army of Israel, Barak respected her leadership. This is but one OT example of God using women in leading His people. There are more as well as NT examples. Please check out the following link to a website which does not take Scripture out of context to support it's belief and gives a balanced teaching which hopefully will help some to clear up this matter on whether or not women should/should not be teachers or co-workers alongside men:

Link to decide for yourselves in the light of Scripture whether a woman should/should not teach

SinnerSaved -> RE: Do you have any amazing Bible facts to share? (4/19/2008 6:17:35 AM)

Psalm 117 is the shortest Chapter of the Bible.

Psalm 119 is the longest Chapter of the Bible.

Psalm 118 is the central Chapter of the Bible.

There are 594 Chapters before Psalm 118.

There are 594 Chapters after Psalm 118.

The Central verse of the entire Bible is Psalm 118 verse 8:

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

was not a spiritual leader, i.e. pastor, bishop, deacon and only aquired her position because no man would step up to the plate. She was a Judge who made decisions and judgements before there were kings for Isreal.

I read the bible...and those who accept feminine spiritual leadership are the ones who pervert scripture to fit their cultural norms.

There is absolutely no spiritual women leaders, over men, or teaching men in the bible. There IS scripture against such practices so...what is the problem?

There have been many wonderful ladies in the bible doing great things in the Lord. This is nothing against women..at all. Its in recognistion of how God made them, and how God made men.

One last comment....I.....am not ignorant.

I accept the Bible also SonInMe1 but I accept the Bible in context and not bits here and there which taken out of context can mean anything you want them to mean (which is scary and very dangerous and how most of the world cults/religions sometimes begin even).

I believe in allowing the Bible to interpret itself and this is what the link I provided to the 'male' teacher does in his explanations, i.e. he (Ray Stedman - see Link) uses Scripture to intepret what other parts of Scripture means in a balanced way and gives a better all round picture of what the Bible has to say about women teaching in the church. How he uses Scripture to interpret Scripture is evident in this particular study and I hope explains (better than I could) how Scripture interprets Scripture. Obviously, the Holy Spirit takes the Word of God and applies it to our hearts, therefore we should always seek His help when studying God's Word so that we don't get led astray with every whim and false doctrine. I make it a habit to always pray and ask God's Holy Spirit to teach me from His Word because the Word without the Spirit is dead and so I never open my Bible without first seeking God's Holy Spirit to help me understand what the Bible has to say.

The Thomson Chain Reference Bible is a very good aid for studying Scripture and comparing it with other Scriptures so that you get a more balanced view of any given subject and therefore is one such reference Bible which I would highly recommend to anyone who is not satisfied with listening to everything they hear but like to weigh things up in a balanced way by comparing Scripture with Scripture.

However, if you don't accept this SonInMe1, then that is okay - I am willing to 'agree to disagree' and still look forward to reading your posts and what they may have to teach me in the future.

Bless [sm=angel.gif]
