Here's another vote for the Dixie Echoes. Saw them last night. Without a doubt, they are among the finest SG quartets on the road today. Four singers, one piano and zero tracks. They really connect with their audience and seem to have way more fun on stage than most groups. Do yourself a favor by going to see the Dixie Echoes. You will not be disappointed.

robertyork -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (5/18/2008 1:57:50 PM)

Dixie Echoes are gonna be here (Marietta) May 30. Been a while since we saw them and looking forward to seeing them.

saigebrush -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (5/19/2008 2:09:34 AM)

I'm gonna get my fill of good ole Southern Gospel Music. I have two chances to see The Dixie Echoes one is May the 25th just outside of Hattiesburg, MS and the other is at Campground Baptist Church just outside of Gulfport, MS. I am 'bout to bust at the seams to go see 'em.

Hey Everybody! Long time no type. We just came off of a great Weekend and got to see our friend Eva Mae. I think you can go to youtube and see her performance that night. She came to see us near her home and we convinced her to do a few. SHE WAS GREAT!! We are looking forward to A great time this week in Maryland and North Carolina. I am also pleased to announce that our NEW Recording should be available sometime in early July. I am SOOOO Proud of this recording. Hope to see ya'll soon!!

danielmount -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/2/2008 6:34:37 AM)

Pat - will it be entirely classic songs, or will there be some new songs?

wesleysmith -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/2/2008 9:15:13 AM)

Daniel, all the songs are classics. I think the songs are really interesting. I don't think I've ever had more fun in the studio. Speaking of classics, we used vintage RCA77dx ribbon mics for vocals.

Dinana -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/2/2008 9:36:26 AM)

Welcome, Wesley! [sm=wave.gif] Hope you'll post often!

Nice to see you here!

Wow, you used the ribbon microphones! Any chance you'll release an LP of this project? Ribbon mics just don't have the same effect without LPs and vice versa.

dixiebass1 -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/2/2008 7:26:31 PM)

I had Thought About that Daniel. With all of us Being Record Collector's in the Group that would be A great Idea. The Songs will be Brand New To many Southern Gospel Fans. I agree with Wesley. WE HAD A BLAST!!!

P.S. I do Post on other Threads on Occasion. It is always fun to see everyone's response.

LilChief -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/2/2008 9:25:27 PM)

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that there are three videos of the group on You Tube. A couple of them even feature my buddy, Wesley. Check 'em out, I think you will enjoy them!

WOW!!! i can't believe We are on You Tube. I feel so famous! lol Thank you for posting those videos. That was the night Eva Mae came and sat on the front row. Talk about NERVE RACKING!!! And to top it off, Randy Travis was in concert 1 mile down the road. I almost left to go see him at intermission. lol. Ya'll be sure to see the videos, and let us know what you think. God Bless!!

I really liked them!

I especially liked How Big is God, and I'm not saying that just because you're posting here (after all, Wesley is, too!) It was the only one of the songs that I hadn't heard the Dixie Echoes do before / recently.

Amerigrandpa -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/3/2008 8:15:35 PM)

Those are good videos. The Dixie Echoes have a strong act right now. Nothing like four guys, two microphones, and a redheaded pianist.

Pat-

Check THIS out!
http://www.urpressing.com/pricing/vinyl/12inch.php

Just call Jimmy P and get his credit card number- or about $1500.00
I'm sure he probably still owes you for some services rendered during
your tenure with The Dips!! (j/k!)

Charlie

edit--

Seriously, looks like you could get about 500 LPs in white covers for around $2.80/each. Not really too bad, considering...

I'm sure they'd sell pretty good-- as a gimmick -- if for no other reason. I know I bought the one that The Original Hopper Brothers did a few years ago...

i_heart_jesus -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/4/2008 9:13:21 PM)

my question is...

How many people would be willing to spend money on an LP? Even if it were just for collection purposes, would people be willing to fork out money for it? And how much would they be willing to pay?

I think the LP is a GREAT idea.

Let's hear it...would you buy one? I think if enough people got behind the idea, it could quite possibly become a reality...

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/4/2008 9:51:02 PM)

Yea, i would buy one! ..... i bought one of those albums that Greater Vision put out for their Christmas project a few year back, i still have it! Real nice, it's a red album.

Seaton -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/5/2008 7:04:50 AM)

I would, even if just for nostalgia purposes. Like JChaz, I bought a copy of the Hopper Brothers & Connie 50th anniversary LP.

Dinana -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/5/2008 8:12:55 AM)

I'd buy one just for the novelty --- and I do still have a turntable that works!

Qtman -> RE: The Dixie Echoes... (6/5/2008 8:26:02 AM)

I would buy one also. I could just add it to my collection of old Statesmen albums.[:D]
