Here's another vote for the Dixie Echoes. Saw them last night. Without a doubt, they are among the finest SG quartets on the road today. Four singers, one piano and zero tracks. They really connect with their audience and seem to have way more fun on stage than most groups. Do yourself a favor by going to see the Dixie Echoes. You will not be disappointed.

I'm gonna get my fill of good ole Southern Gospel Music. I have two chances to see The Dixie Echoes one is May the 25th just outside of Hattiesburg, MS and the other is at Campground Baptist Church just outside of Gulfport, MS. I am 'bout to bust at the seams to go see 'em.

Pat - will it be entirely classic songs, or will there be some new songs?

Daniel, all the songs are classics. I think the songs are really interesting. I don't think I've ever had more fun in the studio. Speaking of classics, we used vintage RCA77dx ribbon mics for vocals.

Nice to see you here!

Wow, you used the ribbon microphones! Any chance you'll release an LP of this project? Ribbon mics just don't have the same effect without LPs and vice versa.

I really liked them!

I especially liked How Big is God, and I'm not saying that just because you're posting here (after all, Wesley is, too!) It was the only one of the songs that I hadn't heard the Dixie Echoes do before / recently.

Those are good videos. The Dixie Echoes have a strong act right now. Nothing like four guys, two microphones, and a redheaded pianist.

Pat-

Check THIS out!
http://www.urpressing.com/pricing/vinyl/12inch.php

Just call Jimmy P and get his credit card number- or about $1500.00
I'm sure he probably still owes you for some services rendered during
your tenure with The Dips!! (j/k!)

Charlie

edit--

Seriously, looks like you could get about 500 LPs in white covers for around $2.80/each. Not really too bad, considering...

I'm sure they'd sell pretty good-- as a gimmick -- if for no other reason. I know I bought the one that The Original Hopper Brothers did a few years ago...

my question is...

How many people would be willing to spend money on an LP? Even if it were just for collection purposes, would people be willing to fork out money for it? And how much would they be willing to pay?

I think the LP is a GREAT idea.

Let's hear it...would you buy one? I think if enough people got behind the idea, it could quite possibly become a reality...

I would, even if just for nostalgia purposes. Like JChaz, I bought a copy of the Hopper Brothers & Connie 50th anniversary LP.

I'd buy one just for the novelty --- and I do still have a turntable that works!

I would buy one also. I could just add it to my collection of old Statesmen albums.
