The thread of posts on this subject produced lots of replies and a bit of heat at times; maybe a poll could complement the discussion, to show where people's assumptions are coming from. The context might be in relation to what parents might in the end feel reasonably comfortable with and accustomed with for a young person.

A lot of men have them, don't they?

I had an earring in my left ear when I was in my late teens. It was a culture thing at the time.

Thnx. So did you ever consider doing only the one ear? and if you were doing it today for the first time, would you be more likely to consider having both ears pierced?

JordanW -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (4/30/2008 4:29:24 PM)

I have an earring in both ears.

Yes. it's becoming the standard for guys to do both ears, isn't it? rather than just one ear.

Take care.

Just makes sense I guess to have the balanced look of one in each ear, if you are going to go for it, right?

So was your mom okay when you did your ears?

Hey faroukfarouk, I am only seeing this posting now! Sorry for the delay! Anyway, in answer to your question, had it been fashionable to have your ears pierced in both ears back then, I would have done that as well.

What I did do was buy earring crosses and I took one and gave the other one to my girlfriend at the time instead.

Not this one.

Piercings look awkward on men, and something I'd never find myself having.

Thnx.

So do you ever wear an earring in the one hole that you do have? and, if so, when you do, does it ever cross your mind to have the other ear pierced as well?

Take care.

Faroukfarouk, I cannot help but see the common theme in all of the theads you start......

As the OP, you can broaden... or redefine the conversation within a thread. That way you can keep up with who said what about the same topic. [;)][8D]

As for earrings for men.

They don't bother me. If a man wants to wear them. Cool. If not, also cool.

My sons each have their left ear pierced. I'm not enamored or disgusted. It's just fashion.

Okay, and okay.

So how old are they?

Take care.

landabee -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (5/5/2008 12:47:35 PM)

They are 16 and 18.

Yes, well lots of young guys that age have them, don't they.

I guess you took them to the mall to have it done.

I don't have an earring but after I graduate and move out I plan on getting two earrings in my left ear.

Well, sounds great, anyhow.

McFatty -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (5/9/2008 3:08:32 AM)

If I was a pirate, I'd definitely have an earring. Barring that, my earlobes will probably remain intact.

miasma -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (5/9/2008 1:24:58 PM)

I don't know, don't care. I, personally, don't care for a lot of modification as such, but I don't care if someone else wants to do it. It's no more or less silly for a man to have earrings, than a woman. It's simply (for the most part) superficial adornment.

No, because it got infected and it ended being closed up, however I still have the scare though. And no, I haven't thought about getting the other side done at all.

navigatormike56 -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (5/25/2008 6:40:38 AM)

I'm 56 and generally conservative in my outlook but do like to be in style without being extreme. I had my left ear pierced in 1991 when I was 39, and my right ear done, along with a second hole in the left ear, a few months back. Extreme or numerous piercings certainly aren't for me, but a couple of earrings are pretty mainstream now.

It used to be one ear, but now guys often get both done, right?

humbleinspirit -> RE: Earrings for males: what could you get to be accustomed with? (6/28/2008 9:03:26 PM)

I am noticing more and more guys wearing these new round earrings that covers the the whole bottom part of the ear. I gotta admit it looks kinda ah, strange.
