For me it gets harder every year at holidays when I'm still alone. Especially when people ask where your husband or boyfriend is and you have to politely reply through clenched teeth, "I'm still single." Then they give you the "awwww poor thing look".

so true. i'm kinda dreading mine this year as last years was one of the best days of my life. now its for my daughters sake maybe more than mine. i don't want to let life pass me by though ... i was blessed with a raise this past week and instead of just going home alone (daughter was away for spring break), i called up a teen from youth group and took them out to dinner. after that i called my best friend and spent the night at his house and had lots of fun. it was different and good in its own regard and really glad i didn't just go back to my empty house but proactively tried to do something. sometimes its like going through the motions and i really feel the loneliness but often i find i can still enjoy myself. i'm hoping it makes it all the more sweeter when i have someone to share celebrations with.

i never went thru that, but i'll tell ya...it's always something. my mom will be telling me about soandso meeting whatshername...and she'll say "you know...she's been married before..." that's when i have to pause...before saying, "uh...mom...I'VE been married before. what does that mean?" i seriously think she sometimes just blanks it out. lol
