Dear DD,
May God help and comfort your heart.

"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee."
Psalm 139:17-18

My prayer for you:

Colossians 1: 9-14

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
AMEN

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:1-5

A well-known portion of scripture, but I felt a need to post it this morning.

we also exult in our tribulations

He is there, with His hand stretched out, waiting patiently for us to reach for His help. We are not in this alone! He is our hope, and

hope does not disappoint

Praise God!!

Thank you, focusing, for this most truthful reminder!

As I was praying Psalm 87 this morning, I was also reading the words to John Newton's hymn, Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken. Some of the thoughts expressed in that hymn echo what you have said.

On the Rock of Ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded, thou mayest smile at all thy foes!

Yes, in Him we are built on an unshakable foundation and surrounded by His favor always. Abiding in heavenly love means living without fear. Thank You, Lord.

Liveloved -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (7/10/2008 3:56:03 PM)

Just thought I should pass on the wonderful encouragement the Lord gave to me this morning through Psalm 92. So here it is:

The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon,
Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
(Psalm 92:12-15)

Be encouraged, friends. This is God's will for us![:)] LL

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. - Isaiah 40:28

I am so glad to know that He does not become weary or tired. I sure do, but I know I can lean upon Him during those times and He will lift me up ...

He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. - Isaiah 40:29-31

Thank you Lord.

Liveloved -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (7/23/2008 1:19:34 PM)

Thank you, Focusing. I read that the day you posted it and intended to come back to thank you---and never made it back until now. [:)]

Today I was praying Psalm 100. Verse 3 speaks of we being His people. And that reminded me of the Tozer sermon I was listening to on tape the other night. Peter tells us we are a 'peculiar' people. And our understanding, or MISunderstanding, of the word 'peculiar' is so important.

We tend to think of 'peculiar' as odd, queer, different or weird. And that is not at all what God means when He tells us that we are a 'peculiar' people. In fact, as I looked up the word in a dictionary, the first meaning of 'peculiar' has to do with possessing, exclusively belonging to one. And that is exactly what God is talking about when He calls us a 'peculiar' people. And that is why the NASB renders it "a people for God's own possession." We are God's exclusive possession! Isn't that a wonderful knowing?

Yes, we are His people! That is great reason to shout joyfully, serving Him with gladness and singing joyfully all our days! Bless you![:)] LL

I'm very discouraged right now. You can read about it at this link.

http://forums.crosswalk.com/How_to_repair_a_churchs_reputation%3f/m_3655671/mpage_1/tm.htm#3665210

At the same time my mom is worse, had a small stroke Monday. I take care of her and its so hard to see her in so much pain all the time. And so very weak. My gradsons who I also watch started back to school yesterday, so I can slow down just a little. My faith remains strong, but I guess I'm just tired and discouraged about what gone on in my church family.

Liveloved -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/1/2008 5:15:51 AM)

Sparklingsnow,

I do know the pain you are feeling. I've watched and prayed through all sorts of evil taking place in church families over the years. And I've been in your place many times wondering why and how long, O Lord.

But you know, I've also come to see that these times are to grow me up, to draw me closer to the Lord, for me to seek my satisfaction fully from Him and not depend on any other but Him. We always want to think that God has some 'bigger' purpose in all of these things. But sometimes, puny little me IS His purpose! So take heart, dear friend, He is doing a work and it is not wasted. He takes all and uses all to accomplish His will and purposes and nothing will be lost. Remain faithful. Trust Him. Believe that He is getting His will accomplished and pray for Him to come quickly! He hears. He sees. He knows. And He loves you with an everlasting love. You are significant to Him! Bless the Lord and forget none of His benefits! May His blessing be upon you, SS![:)][sm=hug.gif] LL

conrack50 -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/1/2008 6:04:02 AM)

Sparklingsnow,
I have seen the same pain, felt the same pain from my church family. I stopped going because there was nothing about how wonderful our Father in Heaven is or what Jesus went through for us. It became so filled about "ones self" and that's not a church I'll go to.
I am currently seeking another church and will go there this Sunday. It's been told that I would really enjoy this one because God is all over it and so is Jesus.
I trust Him for all that I have had, will have and have now.
He is my Father and I am a joint-heir with Jesus.
I also am using this time to "grow up" more and seeing each day what God has in store for me.
He never fails to show me something daily that makes me know it's from Him.

I am praying both for you and your Mom.
In Jesus Name,Amen
Connie Lou

sparkleingsnow -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/1/2008 9:11:46 AM)

Thanks Liveloved and conrack50.

Liveloved, the verse that came to mind as I read your post was, all things work to the good for those who love the Lord and are called acording to his purpose. Thanks for the encouragement.

conrack50, what you said about the Lord showing you something that lets you know He loves you, reminded me that on the way home last night from the meeting, there was two big beautful elk standing in the road. (Thats always been a special blessing for me to be allowed to see one of God's wonderful creatures.) Thanks conrack.

Focusing -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/2/2008 4:02:30 PM)

Sparklingsnow, know that I am lifting you in prayer. Although I'm not doing a lot of posting these days, I have been reading the thread you linked. Even though we know Who wins in the end, there are times when it seems the world is winning the battle and it is soooo discouraging. The verse that always comes to my mind is

Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words

When I logged onto my e-sword today, this is the "random" verse that came up. Hmmm, random from Whom? [;)][:D]

Isa 62:12 And they will call them, "The holy people, the redeemed of the LORD"; and you will be called, "Sought out, a city not forsaken."

Know that you and your church family are being lifted in prayer. [sm=praying.gif]

Liveloved -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/2/2008 4:19:27 PM)

O thank you, Focusing. Your encouragement to ss blessed me as well. [:)]

I was praying Psalm 103 today. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and forget none of His benefits. I first prayed Lord, there is no way I can remember all Your benefits. And there is no way I can know all Your benefits. But I will begin. I can begin.

And as I started naming and thanking Him for benefit, after benefit, after benefit, I began to see His point. When I bless Him and begin thanking Him for Who He is and what He has done, there is no end to the remembering and ALL my time can be occupied with Him. His point exactly.

So I will pass on the blessing He gave me as you forget none of His benefits. Bless you![:)] LL

sparkleingsnow -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/2/2008 4:47:46 PM)

Oh, thank you Focusing! Your post was such a blessing, my eyes welled up with tears. We are not forgotten, and our Lord raines!

God bless you today Liveloved.

Focusing -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (8/3/2008 1:54:20 AM)

I was just reading Psalm 37 and came across these verses. I was so excited that I had to get up and come turn the computer back on and post them for you:

Psa 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psa 37:8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

Psa 37:9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

Psa 37:10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.

Psa 37:11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.

Love it Focusing. :)

Liveloved -> RE: KINDRED SPIRITS - Encourage One Another (9/4/2008 11:41:01 AM)

I was writing a note of encouragement to someone this morning and this verse spontaneously came out in my note to him so I will share it with you as well. (I credit Him.)

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may ABOUND in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Bless you all today!

2 Corinthians 1:2-5 AMP
2 Grace (favor and spiritual blessing) to you and [heart] peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement), 4 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God. 5 For just as Christ's [own] sufferings fall to our lot ... abundantly, so through Christ comfort (consolation and encouragement) is also [shared and experienced] abundantly by us.
