I read Captivating a few years ago and my take on it is that it focuses and puts emphasis on the subjective, our feelings and experiences. Rather the the objective Word of God. It was warm & fuzzy but not deep or meaningful IMO.

We've been discussing Eldredge and this book, among others, that he has written. Here is a small excerpt being discussed now, if anyone wishes to see what is being said... LINK

Since I posted the first reply, I haven't picked up Captivating since. I have found myself in Redeeming Love. God is ministering to my heart in this book and I can't seem to put it down (even though I have to). I guess I will have to tell my friend that it didn't go deep enough in revealing the Father's love.
