I appreciate the spell check option, however, a forums spellchecker should really speak forums slang. LOL, DD, DS, DH, ROFLMBO, etc. 'Cause, no, I really am rolling on the floor laughing my bottom off, not doing anything to a rifleman!

Normally, I don't need a spell checker to write nicely-spelled posts. Apparently, someone must have an agenda to make sure people spell better. Dare I sugest that anyone who wants to potrest this start inserting delibrate mispellings?

Just letting you know that I found this amusing.

BINGO!

I can still do quotes but sometimes I get a message about how there was a problem with communication, next time I get that error I'll post it. It's happened a few times now, and it's never happened before.

THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REQUEST. that's the error I get, it's just a pop up when the speller is checking my post. it's happened twice three times now just in this post alone while I was typing. then I have to stop and click ok. It's going to interfere with mod action I think, if I have to stop like this to get rid of the notice.

Yeah but usually Fritz announces there has been a change somewhere here in feedback. That's why I thought it was a firefox thing.

I don't have Firefox and probably won't in the near future.

Why? It really is much superior than IE. Faster, and a lot more secure than IE as well. I have never met anyone that didn't like FireFox (compared to IE) when they tried it. You have peaked my interest as to why you don't like it.

LOL....I still changed some of the underlined spelling errors using the FF speller and they still showed up as misspellings on the new one here though.

That's interesting.

Another issue is I use post reply, so it pops up a box. Yesterday the cursor would already be in the box ready to go, but now I have to click inside the box to get the cursor in there to start typing.

I don't even have a computer. This one is my sister's and she doesn't mind me using it as long as I live here.

As you can see, I can do quotes now. I had to reboot.

btw...I am not complaining about it at all...I find it nice that we have asked for a while for it to be back and it is now....however usually the admin likes to know our thoughts as they change things so they can tweak things as they go.

Me, too, Kath. Once there was a "Quicksearch" box toward the bottom and the cursor was there. I might have hit something that caused that, though.

I hope it doesn't cause a problem for the mods.

I have noticed that too...and a few times have had to get a new box up to even get a curser to appear in it. Once I couldn't get it and was able to type anyway, but other times I couldn't. Once I couldn't even get it to highlight what I had written so I could copy and not have to retype everything I had written. Weird....it seems to be jumping all around with me....lol

I've received this several times as well, this afternoon. Many times, the screen was blank and I hadn't even attempted to do anything (type) when the message popped up.

Well, if you ever get a computer of your own... use FireFox over IE.

it has popped up on me several times too. A few times it stopped my typing and I had to close the box to continue, but a few other times it didn't...just continued to type it out under the box. Weird.

I will say that the site seems to be going super fast for me and all my posts and PMs are going through on the first try which pretty much never happened before.

Okay, I wasn't going to post about the pop up spell checker as I agree with the person who said that we always seem to fuss at first at any change.

HOWEVER...I could not close one of the boxes that came up telling me some message and it would not let me post and I had to do a command option escape losing what little I was able to accomplish for a post as I kept getting a box at random when I pressed the space bar. And please don't go into a MAC issue.

Now I officially am joining those who are asking for some way to turn it off.

Thank you.

Oh and I typed this post in my email program and am cutting and pasting it here so I can get it posted.

I REALLY HATE this weak Spell-Checker feature... its listing of misspelled words ends up blocking the 'OK' "Preview' 'Cancel' buttons.

And it's ugly, red and green color scheme.. ugh.

Someone please turn it off.

I don't think it will interfere catching the bad guys, it's just that I am used to getting the PMs going quickly and with this box I'm slower.
