yep definately give an option to turn it off. it is annoying trying to submit a post and the spelling pops up right before and you click a word trying to click submit and then need to re-read your whole post looking for a word that doesn't fit in. and then repeat again.

I haven't found it to be annoying yet, except that pop-up error message which I'm sure they'll work on. I don't have a problem with the color scheme. I don't think that's terribly important either way. It doesn't cover my "ok" button so that's not an issue. I did submit a post awile back where nothing happened, so I think sometimes it misses misspelled words. I have one right now I'm looking at, wondering if it's going to notice or not. Apparently not. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to post it like it is.

I keep getting some weird messages when I'm posting. For example, if I pause for more than a few seconds, I get a message that tells me if there were or weren't any spelling errors.

I don't mind it, it's not bothering me, just took me by surprise.

[Title edited by mod for clarification - I have a feeling a lot of folks will be wondering about this.]

Yes, this is a feature we are working on.

There may be some kinks still so bear with us.

Thanks!

Please make it stop. Please.

Yes...what the Lioness said!!!

Funny...I was typing this post when my power blipped off and came back on for no reason...thought maybe that was the computer striking me down for posting this!!!

Yeah, we're working on that feature too but we have some glitches... it keeps blowing the computer up entirely or melting it to the consistency of fudge.

*just kidding*

Fudgelike and fudge are not the same.

Just like sweetener and sugar are not the same.

I know many will appreciate the new feature, when the bugs are gone. Thanks for always looking for ways to improve our time spent here.

If it is possible, an shut-off option for those who don't like it even after it's done would be great. Fudge is in the mail...okay, maybe not...wrong time of year to mail fudge.

We turned it off temporarily.

You can turn it back on in your MyProfile.

Still has some bugs we're working out.

So does that mean its default is "off"? That's good! (I mean for those of us who would rather not have it at all.)

For those of you who are using the spell check option please use this thread to alert us to problem.

We know that the error box is still appearing for heretofor unknown reasons.

Ignore the blue swirly... that is part of the program.

We know that sometimes it suggests foul language for some misspelled words.

Let us know if you find something new.

Thank you Fritz for turning it off. I really did not like some of the words it brought up last night. I have a ten year old that reads over my shoulder some of the time and those words were not good for him to see.

We've filtered the list.

Foul language should no longer be appearing.

What about the times where it gives a suggestion that's against TOS?

Yup. I made a post earlier where I left out the hyphen in the word t-shirt. The spell checker suggested I use a 4 letter word for poo. I really don't want to read that word on my computer screen please.

I tried it and yes indeed, I did get a vulgar word for poo.

Oooooooh, this sounds like a real fun game! I can spend hours here seeing if I can get the spellchecker to say a rude word! hahahahahahaha

And there was me being annoyed by it!! Now I'm well and truly converted, lol.
