PureOath -> RE: What is your favorite prayer verse? (7/20/2008 1:34:38 PM)

I'm a big fan of referring to Phillipians 4 in prayer! Especially in praying for peace. 4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV) The way I've always seen these verses (along with the great ones that follow in 4:8&9) is that I need to rejoice in the Lord always, not sometimes when things are good, but always. Then the spiritual fruit of gentleness will be with me through manefestation of the Holy Spirit. (i.e. The Lord is near.) How I get there is by giving my worries to God. Instead of being anxious - I give it to him and let it go. Which is where 6 and 7 come into play. My heart will be guarded in Christ. Once I really surrender the outcome of a situation to Him, he gives me the peace. Or at least it gives me peace that I've put it in someone's hands more capable than mine. :) quote:
ORIGINAL: Wild-Rose The verse that is with my signature below. No matter what else you are praying about, this verse is appropriate. (Phil 6&7)
