Gamaliel's Advice in Acts 5:34-39 is crucial in all matters of this kind. If it is not God eventually it will come to nothing. If it is God, then we must not fight against Him. Therefore great wisdom is leaving matters like this in God's hands.

Many heretics have had highly successful careers fleecing God's sheep. I think part of making sure it comes to nothing is challenging heresy wherever we find it.

I don't know that this is heresy. I'm not interested in it enough to study it. I personally do not like any big revival service which focuses on anything other than than preaching the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Huge signs & wonders pep rallies make me nauseous. Flash over wisdom, style over substance. Maybe thats just me though and God can certainly perform healing and other miracles. I just don't think He does it on our schedule.

We can't proof text for our beliefs.. Scripture, as a whole, says otherwise when it comes to leaving things alone.

It's like trying to patch a series of holes in a dike, just as soon as one is addressed, another pops up. Invariably, people don't care if the Bible is contradicted or if things totally out of Christian character is done, as long as it FEELS spiritual and/or exciting, then it must be from Jesus.

The question, I've learned, is always, "Which Jesus?" God nor His chosen servants contradict His revealed scripture.

I was reading something by J. Lee Grady about this and we as Christians need to be careful of this sort of thing. This may be the new thing, however, there is some concern about this and movements like this because they bring people out of the woodwork offering false hope.

my pastor has just invited people in our church to come along and watch it every night at church and participate in the "revival". I don't know what to think about it and what to say about it as I don't agree with some of the people associated. What would you do or say? My husband is on the church board and thinks I am making too much of this.

I probably would make an excuse why I couldn't make it. I'm chicken I know.

Like you I don't know alot about it but I do know that these sort of things in general turn my stomach. It offends my sensibilities, especially the overhyping of healing and undervaluing the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. I want no part of a Christian revival that emphasizes miracles and healing as opposed to the Gospel message. But again, maybe I'm wrong.

Well if you have already shared your concern and he is unconvinced then I'm not sure what else you could do. The options appear to be go, not go or find out more so you could make a better case for not going or find out that you find it OK, problem solved. I guess not go could be split into make an excuse (like I said I would do) or take a stand and say I want no part of it.

This "revival" is taking place right down the road from where I live. I've had friends go to it. One who I warned sternly (he invited dh to go, first I'd heard of it; I did some reading and said NO WAY!); he came back a little underwhelmed. I've brougt this to my Pastor's attention. I was a little concerned that he didn't even seem to know it was going on, especially with people in his congregation going to it. He's had a lot on his plate, I guess. But I, for one, made it clear that I will not stay in a church that invites this nonsense (I consider some of what Bentley is doing downright demonic...Angel Emma, for example). My dh knows I'll up and walk out. I don't think it'll come to that but I'm prepared to have a very open discusion with anyone who tries to bring this in.

I think you need to do some research and go at it with more than just your gut. The recent article by J.Lee Grady in Charisma is a good place to start if you need something even and objective to share with your dh and Pastor. Not to stir up trouble but, If it were me, and this were about to be shown in my church, I'd email that article and maybe a few other links to anyone and everyone I had an email address for and ask them to at least pray first and be wary and judge everything against scripture. Like I said, when my friend went, he was not impressed, which was a huge relief! But in a room with a lot of other people you know, having been referred to this by your own (uninformed) Pastor, I can imagine judgement would be impaired, in a way, if you didn't go into it on your toes.

Hey guys. I just came to this place looking for info. about god tv. I started reading your posts and replies, and I just had to register so I could add a few words. A friend of mine just called me. She has been going nightly to those healing revivals with Bently. She told me that the Lord was moving so strong in that meeting, she could barely stop herself from shaking. Would the anointing and presence be so strong, if these guys were not hitting the mark? I don't think the presence of the Lord would be in a place of a false prophet. Just my spin on this.

The presence can definitely be something not of God. Check this out.
Test all things in light of Scripture.

Sorry...I know I'm a little late, but I just came across this and watched the video on the link (at least as much as I could stomach). This stuff is not of God! You can be absolutely sure of that! the Bible says God is a God of order and not a God of confusion...this junk is confusing and disordly and chaotic!

And for those that think someone is of God because they quote scripture, even Satan and his demons can do that!

Two things come to my mind regarding these "healing shows". First, it plays into the desire for a "quick fix". Rarely does one see God work in that way. It's quite possible, but rare.

Secondly, it plays into the desire to "feel" something. Humans tend to claim they need to feel something before they'll believe it's real. So, rather than having faith in God regardless of our state of emotion, they look for some sort of good feeling. They work themselves into some "altered" state (although not with God's help!) then claim to have been filled with His Spirit.
