Ellie-Mae -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/11/2008 10:13:44 PM)

I am drugged up and exhausted. I am always tired now. I never get any boosts of energy... well, except for when Timothy got stuck in the chute the other day. My incision seems to be healing nicely, but I know that I look like a ghost of the picture that I usually am.

If the county attorney is the prosecuter, then that is exactly who you should be talking to.

Yes, it said in the letter if we didn't pay within thirty days it's a class 4 felony and all info would be forwarded to the county attorney. So I decided it would be a good idea if I called him right away.

LOL that's what I'm afraid of.

All these lawyers in the family, well ok, two, and I can't use either one. One is a .... can't think of the exact title but works with people not getting ssi and workmans comp, and the other works for the state supreme court and says she can't even give us an opinion. *sigh* Oh yeah, and one is a judge so that makes three.

Kath, I'm praying that the Lord helps you and your husband figure this out. I hope you will be able to sleep tonight!

If you can't get a hold of anyone in the morning, it might not be a bad idea to write a prompt response to the letter so that everything is in writing and cc it to everyone who should see it. I do most everything in writing--I've found in life a paper trail is a very good thing to have on your side.

Oh (((Ellie-Mae)))! I'm praying for you. Are your church friends helping you out? Providing dinners? I followed your posts to find out about the chute. Seriously funny. Such a Calvin and Hobbes thing to do.

Kath, that is awful. I will be praying for a speedy uh, correction of all that.

Mona, that website looks GREAT! Are you a web designer or a chiropractor?

Russ just sent this to our prayer chain so I thought I would just cut and paste here:
quote:

Lisa will be seeing the urologist tomorrow about the laser procedure for the kidney stones that they are planning for Friday. She still has to have scans done and a radioactive iodine treatment for the thyroid situation. These are planned for Monday and Wednesday. Fatigue (from going without thyroid) and aches and pains could be aggravated by the four trips to [the city], not to mention the procedure itself. Please lift her up in prayer.

Russ

I am praying for successful and pain-free treatment.

I have been through this with my neice and I can tell you it is hard. I'm praying for you and the family also.

I am very blessed with a great church family, but I am also blessed with an extended family as well. My mother, brother and Russ' aunt live with us. I haven't asked anything other than prayers from church lately. When I had my thyroid out, they brought dinners for us.

It is a good thing that we have a sense of humor or... I just can't imagine making it through stuff like that. The scar thing is that ever once in a while he is still talking about the "next time". I can't believe him! The chute is about the size of one of those little heater registers that you see in trailers. It is really small.

Hey Mona!

I'll have to look at your website later . . . I didn't realize it had music to it . . . and my house hostess is still sleeping . . . and I'm using her laptop . . . and I have no idea where the mute button or volume control are on this thing.

Good morning, y'all.

Good morning, Counsellor.

LOL! The music got me too. It is very quiet here tonight, as the rest of the family is sleeping. Additionally, unbeknownst to me, my teenager had turned up the speakers on the computer to listen to the latest Jonas Brothers (don't ask) youtube video. So, I innocently click on Mona's link ...... and get blasted out of my chair!!

On the good side, I am now wide awake for the next couple of hours, so maybe I can accomplish something useful instead of hanging out lurking online. Naaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh .........

zzzzzzzzzzz

P.S. Mona, good job!

zzzzzzzzzzz

I seriously didn't think of that, but you are right, that is a very good idea! I'll remember that for next time something like this happens. I would have felt better had I thought to do that.

I finally got ahold of the guy down in Lincoln who is in charge of it. I was hoping by calling so early I'd actually speak to someone in authority. He said that what probably happened is a name similar to Larry's registered a vehicle and they misspelled the name into the computer and Larry's came up when they tried to fix it. He wrote down all our info. He didn't even have to talk to Larry, which surprised me and also made me feel better, so many won't talk to me since these privacy laws went into effect, but I'm the one that deals with all of this. He said he really doubted if it was identity theft, which was my biggest concern.

I did run a check on our credit through two of the three bureaus and it was interesting to see. They must have stuff going back 20 years or more.

I saw them on Dancing with the Stars.

I'm so glad you got a hold of someone who actually will do something. I've been reading your posts about all of this.

crankius -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 12:53:39 PM)

Good Kath! I hope it was just a typo or something silly.

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 1:17:42 PM)

Me too!

phosadaud -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 3:24:52 PM)

That's good to hear Kath! I've had that happen to me. A few years out of college, I was mailed a statement for another Kristin's $30,000 college loans.... Boy was I glad that was easy to get cleared up! [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

I would seriously be freaking out if that happened!

phosadaud -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 4:12:11 PM)

Yeah, when I opened up the letter, I about passed out.... Fortunately, I quickly saw it was my name and not my social security number (another reason it freaked me out because had I been a bad person I could have really caused problems for the other Kristin) and called them up right away. It was quickly corrected but yikes!

Kerrlaw -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 5:00:08 PM)

I know of a situation where two women had the exact same name and lived on the same road. They also shared an intense dislike for each other. One, in particular, would toss mail, credit card statements, bills, etc. that came to her mistakenly.

I advised the one who consulted me to get a P.O. Box and a change of address kit. Problem solved.

And then you sent her a bill for $270.00? [sm=dollars.gif]

crankius -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 7:12:13 PM)

So funny. I messaged my husband and asked him what he pays his attorney.

This is how it went.

Her Highness says:
By the way, what do you pay your attorney an hour?

Mr. Engineer says:
I don't know. They probably run $150 to $200 an hour.

Her Highness says:
You don't know what you pay your attorney?

Mr. Engineer says:
No.

Her Highness says:
You just pay the bill without knowing what you are paying?

Mr. Engineer says:
Yes.

Just like people pay our bills. [[8D]]

I think our local attorney is $180/hour.

Our attorney in Washington, D.C. was $280

Her Highness says:
wow!

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Kerrlaw Convenes Court (6/12/2008 7:56:50 PM)

The lawyer that we had when we were trying to get certified to adopt cost $250 an hour. They did a good job though.
