THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FATHER'S DAY WISHES.

We have had an interesting Father's Day.

After going our with friends, and driving thruugh Gatlinburg, we got into bed about 11:45 p.m. About 1:00 a.m. we were awakened by a ruckus next door. Our former neighbors moved to their lake house about a year ago and rented out their home to a family with four little children, four cats, and two little dogs, all of whom were allowed to run wild. The children played in the street, the dogs killed three of the kittens, and they let the dogs run freely, in violation of the leash laws, to pee and poop in our yard, and even on our porch. Still, we liked having them live there better than we liked the former neighbors living there, which might tell you something.

The renters moved the children out about two weeks ago, and appeared to be gradually moving out. They were apparently finishing the moving late last night when the owners showed up and the trouble began. At one point the two women were in a fist fight. There were four policemen on the scene, which did not stop the yelling and cussing. Two of the officers stayed until the renters finished loading up and left.

We minded our own business (can you tell my sympathies are with the renters), but because of the noise could not get to sleep until about 4:00 a.m.. Oh, Cindy's son text messaged her about 2:00 a.m., so she called him and we both talked to him for a while about a problem he was having. So we ended up sleeping very little.

We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel this afternoon and took a Baptist nap while watching On Golden Pond, so it has been a nice afternoon.
Remind me not to move to your neighborhood!!!!

I just commented in another thread about how neckties are only worn to work by 6% of men now.

I would be glad if it was zero percent.

I'll never be able to read an appellate court opinion in the same way again.

Maybe the courts could adopt the new word to signify agreement with the writer of the opinion.

**snicker**

Oh, and I must say that as much as I hated the people who used to rent the house behind mine, at least the cops never had to be called... I did have some neighbors (2 gals) in college that resulted in us sleeping with a phone in our room for the specific purpose of being able to easily call the police... I remember one morning at about 5am (wayyyyyyy to early for us college kids), two of the gals guy friends started a screaming argument in the stairwell of our apartment complex. Of course, guess which wall our beds rested against in our apartment.... We seriously thought it was going to come to blows...

Other memories were of eggs dumped on the stairs (and never cleaned up), melons thrown off their balcony (and never cleaned up), feather pillows being ripped apart and finding feathers everywhere for the next month (and never cleaned up)...

They actually came very close to being kicked out of the college apartments. That never happens. The only person I had ever heard of being kicked out of student housing was caught growing marijuana in her closet in the dorms.

Nope. I'm an office manager/chiropractic assistant. But somebody had to do it. It was fun, really. I need to update the recipe section.

Our Cracker Barrel had an interesting day. A semi on the highway lost a tire and the tire broke through the barrier fence, rolled/bounced across the service road and parking lot and THROUGH the front window. No cars or people were hit, but one lady was scratched by broken glass.

I love the new word, elastic!!! I was thinking I'd work it into conversation, but you really have to see it spelled out. Maybe I'll put it on a t-shirt!

Kerrlaw,

One word for next time you have a neighbor incident: YOUTUBE!!!

I have questions to ask, so for a moment let's pretend this is the Ask Kerrlaw Anything thread:

Should son get his tonsils out?
Should we put in a hot tub?
Should I buy an A&L Folk guitar or a Simon and Patrick Folk guitar?
Should I really hire a housekeeper?
Should we go to Jackson Hole or Yellowstone this Fall?
Should I paint my metal bench Ivory or Summer Squash?

So give me the answers and then I'll be able to proceed in life.

It's lonely in here tonight.

I guess I'll just talk to myself.

I MISS DOING MUSIC IN CHURCH!!!

Our church has no special music. They've only had one special music since I've been there, and it was me. Which is flattering, cause they asked me, but it stinks that they don't have special music on a regular basis.

Their policy is, if we do special music regularly, it won't be special anymore. I think that is a seriously stupid way of saying, I'm in charge and I want to dictate which one of you little minions gets to use your God given talents to minister and I get to dictate how often you get to bring a song to church. But really, since they never have special music, he must be saying I don't want ANY special music, and I AM THE MUSIC DICTATOR MAN!!!

Cowboy Church is a great opportunity to sing and they are more than happy to have anyone who wants to share--they take Eph 5:19 and Col 3:16 seriously.

And in addition, I miss doing music with a group, but in my cranky heart I only like to do music with others who actually know how to read music.

And sharing all this helps my cranky heart not feel so cranky anymore. Thanks for letting me talk to myself in your thread, Kerrlaw! Now I can sleep peacefully.

edit to add a face so I that I don't sound quite so mad

Cranky,

I realize Kerr will come up with better answers, but it occurs to me that there is one really good answer that works for all of your questions. In fact, it is a good answer for many of life's most difficult questions. Here it is:

YES, but with lots of ice cream.

Works for all of them, I think.

zzzzzzzzz

If he needs it
Most definitely
No idea
YES! YES! YES!
Jackson Hole (Thanks to Shar-Mar, I really wanna go there now!)
Summer Squash

Hope this helps!!!

Should son get his tonsils out? Probably. It did GC a lot of good to have hers out.
Should we put in a hot tub? A human bacterial frappe? I don't think so. But, if it's just for the Crankys and no one else, okay, go ahead.
Should I buy an A&L Folk guitar or a Simon and Patrick Folk guitar? Both
Should I really hire a housekeeper? Is there some word more affirmative than YES?
Should we go to Jackson Hole or Yellowstone this Fall?Sharon-Marie would say Jackson Hole but can't you go to both?
Should I paint my metal bench Ivory or Summer Squash? Ivory

So give me the answers and then I'll be able to proceed in life.
