Protect -> Whats the point again? (4/25/2008 4:11:25 PM)

I made a thread like this awhile ago but didnt relly get the answer i was looking for.

-We go through a lifetime growing our patience, god even brings situations to help us grow.
We go through a litetime learning and memorizeing gods word,
and growing in strength and personality, we help people and love people and much more,

What was the whole point of that growing?
when we get to heaven we have perfect strength, perfect patience, perfect love, no sin.. dont we?
So what was the whole point of spending all my life growing?

This is a question me and my family want to know.
and sorry for my spelling.

I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for either, but Jesus gave lots of examples of ways in which we are to love our neighbors, everything from clothing the naked to making disciples. I think that our spiritual growth in this life better equips us to do these sorts of things.

We are learning to love God and love others here in this life, and all the while God is changing us, making us more and more like Jesus. It's my opinion we will continue to learn and grow in eternity, too. We will never out learn or outgrow our God.

I'm not sure what answer you are looking for ... but here goes:

If by a lifetime of growing patience, using the situations God gives you to grow, helping and loving other people makes this world a better place then it would all have been worthwhile.

There's a lot of hurt and suffering in the world today and we need people to use the situations that God brings their way in order to do good.

And when we get to Heaven .... we will be asked to what use have we put all the learning, patience, loving etc ... Did we use it to help others less fortunate than ourselves; or did we selfishly enjoy these pleasures and riches and ignore our responsibilities towards others.

I think that's why we've been put on this earth. To practice goodness towards our fellow beings.

One of the points of growing in the Lord is to be able to be used for his purpose on this earth. God did and does so much for us, and we want to serve Him in return. How can we teach if we don't grow in understanding of His word? How can we show His love to others if we don't grow in His love?

Also He want a relationship with us while we are here on this earth. He loves us beyond our understanding. If you love someone do you just want to say hi as you pass on the street? Or do you want to spend time with them. Give and receive love, caring, attention. Because He first loved us, we love Him and want to grow ever closer to Him.

Your post hits home with me. I know what I know about God and He is good no matter the circumstances and it's possible there are things we cannot /will not see in the short term when God is at work. I try to be patient, teachable spirit and truly love others even when they are unlovable in their actions. In all honesty, sometimes it gets really hard and really feel the laments of the OT. But then I remember God see us like these unlovely ones and still is patient, loving and sinless. I don't think God is finished yet with whatever situation prompted your post.

Praying for you and your family that God will show you why you are right in these actions and even bless you abundantly in your faithfullness.

Also its hard for me to understand why god does the things he does.
He gave his only son for us, witch was probly hard for him,
He is sad and mad when he see's people sin, and gets angry.

Why does he deal with us ? why did he create us ?
Why does he let this sin happen and just get angry ?

I think if i was an allmighty god i'd get rid of the devil and sin and anything that gets me angry,
and only create things that make my happy..

And also i thought god knew everything befor it happens, didnt he know the world would turn out this way when we created it?
Didnt he know that adam and eve would eat the fruit?

And why would he deal with us and help us grow when he already knows how we will turn out?
Or can we change and be different/better then he had expected?

You're asking a lot of legitimate questions, and I'm not sure we have all the answers to give you.

Yes, God knew that we would sin, and that it would make Him unhappy. But when He created us He gave us the great gift of free will. He did not create robots pre-programmed to do what He wanted when He wanted. He created free human beings to do as they want.

So we chose evil and we sinned. He knew we would do that - I suppose like you know that a child will sometimes do something wrong and hurt himself or others. So He taught us right from wrong. He sent His only Son as teacher and as a sacrifice to die in order to redeem us.

So why does He still bother when we are so rotten? It's because He loves us and cares for us. It's to give us every opportunity to turn from wrong to right.

I realise this is a quick summary to a complex set of questions which many have struggled with through the ages. I hope it encourages you to learn more through a Bible study group or by joining a church. I know you won't regret it.

Hi there,
I believe that all the growing and learning is to help strengthen us so that our faith will grow, and that we will not lose our way. It helps us to keep our focus on God and on His Word, and keep our faith strong. Faith is a muscle that needs to be exercised to stay strong. If we neglect this exercise then we can lose or focus and lose our faith.
There are three stages in growing our faith. let us look to the Scriptures here. To JOHN. 21:15-19. In these verses we see the same question and the same reply three times, but Christs' following remarks are different.
The first is, "feed My lambs", this signifies those that are on the milk faith, as mentioned in EPH.2:8. If we love God we will feed the Word to those on the milk and help them to grow in God. As a lamb, trials and tribulations will come. They will not be great, but with being feed the Word of God they will be strong enough to weather the storms that come.
The second is "feed My sheep". This signifies those on the meat of the Word. They are to be cared for as a shepherd would tend to his flock. Those on the meat will face greater trials than those on the milk, and as such will need to be watched out for, and cared for.
The third is "feed My sheep". this signifies those who are mature in the Word. They are to be fed as the lambs were fed. They will face the greatest trials and tribulations, and will need their faith to be continually fed to remain strong. Much more so than those that were on the milk. It is mainly in this group the intercessory prayer is really required most.
The word "feed" has two meanings applied in these verses. The first and third have the same meanings, (concordance number = 1006), and the second word "feed" has its' meaning in (concordance number 4165).

We exist for eternity. While we are here our purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. The purpose of our growing is to share that growth with the community where God plants us.

God is about love. He is teaching us how to love each other so we can learn to love Him more.

The more we love God, the more we understand and obey the one true source for every good thing.

God did create us and the Creator knows His creation. What He does for us, is best for us. As a parent I have had to make some pretty tough decisions concerning my kids because I love them and want the best for them. God, is our Father, doing much the same things.

The whole point is...life is much more than yourself. The bible says to die to self so Christ may live in us. It means, if we are the master of our lives, God is not.

We cannot serve two masters. Anyone who has tried to keep his sins and to serve God knows what the bible says about people who try to do this. They become double minded. In other words, insane.

One thing we must learn as we walk with God is, to trust Him. What He wants from us, and what He allows in our lives and what His word teaches us, is best for us.

Trust Him.

No one can perfect anything without learning or experiencing something.
So how perfect will you be?
How can you tell God you experienced Love? Without loving someone?
How can you tell God you know? Without learning knowledge?
How can you tell God you hurt? If you never experience pain?
How can you tell God you have patience? If you never learned to have it?
How can you tell God you experience joy? If you never felt sorrow?
How can you tell God you have lived? When you never experience life?

Do not be deceived, our trials are a learning process that sends us through the fires to experience something greater and that is a *perfect life with God.
What would you rewards be, if you can't say you have done and trusted Him to deliver you from this life's woes.
It would show you did not carry your cross or followed Jesus

Why grow us? Are we not told in Scriptures that all we do in Him will be tried by fire to show our rewards? If we are not grown and tested and live for Him then we will have nothing for rewards. We are commanded to be perfect as He is perfect. Another point is that He uses people to tell of His Salvation. If you recall in book of acts when the first gentiles were saved the Lord sent an angel to Cornilius and yet instead of the angel telling the Gospel he was told to send for Peter. As we are to be witnesses of the Lord's Salvation to the world we must grow in faith and knowledge and wisdom to help others to see the Lord in us and to see our witness. If He did not grow us then we would not be good witnesses for Him. How can they believe if they do not hear, how can they hear if one does not preach, how can one preach lest he be sent? We can not tell of His love if we do not grow in it. We can not encourage others in Him if we have not grown with Him that we trust Him or have gone through it with Him as a witness to them.

I think this is right on. We need to grow in our faith, so we can succeed in our purpose, which is the spreading of the truth, gospel, and hope that lies in Christ Jesus. What kind of example are we to others if we continue to live in sin, and do not grow spiritually. The world is watching us, waiting for us to fall, so they can say AHA. If we have not been open to the growth God wants for us, we may run and hide, instead of dusting ourselves off and repenting, and growing from that experience. We are to be witnesses for Christ, and witnesses are judged by their worth. The worth of their words and actions. If we do not grow in the Lord, our words and actions will remain empty, and we will not serve as good witnesses.

What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory.

Sometimes we won't have all of our questions answered to our liking, but we just have to remember that God has His reasons, His purposes and that He is Holy and just. Sometimes when I find myself questioning things, I refer to the above verse in Romans and the following verse in Isaiah:

Isaiah 55:8-9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."

It helps me to remember Who He is, and who I am...humbling.

To be made perfect does not help a man understand how he is made perfect nor does it mean much to them as they no nothing of how hard it is to be perfect or the differences being perfect makes. That is how can we appreciate peace and comfort if we have never experienced anything else? You could say our having to live by faith and faith alone makes us desire more as opposed satan's foolisheness of having seen the glory of God and fallen. I guess it is just safer to start at the bottom and work your way up than to start at the top and fall all the way down. Every father gets his son to learn his business from the ground up.

The meaning of life is to know God, thats the point. If we are simply given knowledge and spritual growth without trail, or without effort on our parts, its not genuine. The point of us learning and growing is to be a light for others, a fisher of men as Jesus puts it. Not only do we be a beacon for others to come to,we also build inner joy that doesnt depend on external circumstances, Paul talks greatly about this in the Bible. What i mean by being a beacon is that the way you come off to people can make them feel like you have something they don't, something they cant quite describe, or at least not explain very well, as though they are on the outside looking in. As we grow in God these qualities tend to grow playing a fundamental role is the golden rule Christ gave us "Love they Neighbor"

Your eternal life began the moment you accepted Christ. It is not something for just the next life, it is now. Growth is a result of the indwelling Spirit of God, it is His activity, not yours.

When you rest in Him and allow Him to do His work in and through you, then you are being what you were created to be. This is not a chore, it is a privilege. It is how we are fulfilled, in this life.

BECAUSE I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART. I am his servant. And if he commands me to do somthing i want to do it. Also by growing in him and with him we are better able to carry out his commandments, such as the Great Commission. Our lives are an example to a lost and dieing world, the more we grow, the more we allow God to use us. Also, we are building up heavenly treasures that we will be able to cast at our AWSOME SAVOURS feet.
