I guess Jack-in-the-Box isn't in your state. Come to think of it, they're not in my current state. But there are lots of them in the state where I grew up. In fact, that's the first drive-thru I ever went to.

Oh, I was wrong. I guess there are a couple in suburban Denver. Hmm, I'll have to check those out next time I'm that way.

They are not here either, but anyway.

Anyone remember the Banana Splits?

I remember them. What cartoons did they play? Can't remember that. Or did they play cartoons?

I totally forgot about Kinney's shoes stores. For the first six years of school, I had to wear big honkin' corrective shoes, so I didn't shop at Kinney's until I was in junior high, and I remember what a big deal it was to get shoes from a "regular" shoe store.

They had Kinney Shoe Stores here also.

Banana Splits had show such as Atom Ant, Hillbilly Bears, Precious Pupp, etc. as well as The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, not to mention the Banana Splits own shenanigans as well.

^ I loved watching Banana Splits!! I also loved the Electric Company. I can remember watching it at school when I was in 3rd grade. That was my last year at a public school and I so wanted to go there in 4th grade so I could be a bus patrol!! Those were the people with real power!

I remember Electric Company! It was great! I also remember watching Hee Haw with my family. When I was a kid in the 70's, watching TV in the evening was an event of family togetherness. One TV, and we all sat in the Big Room (I guess it would be called a great room, now), and watched together. We didn't all watch kids shows, but those evening shows really brought us together!

I remember Captain Kangaroo and Zoom. I don't remember anything about Jabberwocky tht would relate to the seventies. I remember it as being a poem from the book "Through the Lookingglass" by Lewis Carroll. But I loved both Captain Kangaroo and Zoom! I also remember watching H.R. Puff'N'Stuff when I was little. I remember Sesame Street when it was new. I was five. One of my sisters remarked that I had learned the song, so they should put me on the show, and I took her literally and began waiting for people from the show to come and get me. I wonder why it is that the things we remember so vividly from our childhood is so often from television?

Oh Sesame Street! I remember from the 70's Mr. Hooper when he was still alive, and Big Bird always mispronouncing his name calling him Mr. Looper or something instead. Mr. Hooper would always correct him too! Big Bird when he was the only one who would see Mr. Snuffleupagus. Oh, the memories!

Anybody watch the "Howdie Doody Show"? I loved that show! I sat there glued to the t.v. I loved Clarabell, the clown! I guess I watched the re-runs of it; but it was all new to me.

Was it in the 70's when the rumors that McDonalds was using kangaroo meat surfaced? I just remember thinking that was the funniest thing I had ever heard and that it might even make for a great marketing campaign...

I don't remember the kangaroo burgers at McDonalds, but I DO remember when Jack-In-The-Box burgers in some restaurants turned out to be made of horse meat. And I think that it happened more than once ...

I hope you're kidding! I've never seen a JackintheBox but I've heard of them.

We have one right down the street from us. They definately over charge for their meals!

They were the first drive-through in our area. I remember going with my dearly departed grandmother. It was so exciting to get to talk into a clown's mouth!!
My grandmother said that she didn't mind ordering it through the clown's mouth, but she didn't like the fact that the food tasted like it came out the clown's "other end."

Kinney's and Thom McAhan, which is now sold in Kmart

Wasn't Kinney's also known as The Great American Shoe Store. They had G.A.S.S. on the bottom of some of their tennis shoes. My brother had a pair of those shoes. After walking through the mud, my brother would forget to take his shoes off. So, I'd give him a bad time about having gas G.A.S.S all over the place.

Has Charlie's Angels been mentioned?

How about Baretta, with Robert Blake? One thing I've wondered off and on through the years was, did pimps really dress like Rooster did?

Chico and the Man, loved that show.

Also Courtship of Eddie's Father.

Dragnet! Who can forget Joe Friday? also Adam 12. That was one of my favs. I guess I loved cops shows even back then.

Petrocelli I used to think he was so cute. Now I look at a picture of him from the show and wonder "What was I thinking?"

I found an entire website devoted to the '70s. LINK

I do remember Kinney's shoe stores but not what brand they carried. If I remember right we only had one store in Omaha and it was pretty far away.

That must have been a cool boss. I think Barney just might have been my favorite show back then. It's a toss up between that and The Rockford Files.

You oughta go back and watch it sometime.

Dietrich and Wojo were my favorites. Oh, heck, I liked all of them.

He was good in the fact that he was easy going. I still run into him from time to time as well.

I checked out the link & there were a few shows I had forgotten about. Funny Face was a good show. Does anyone know whatever happened to Sandy Duncan?

I loved Love American Style. I think I loved the theme song more. I was probably a pre-teen when it came out. Some of the episodes would have been considered risque for my age.

Didn't That Girl come out before 1970? I like that show too. Remember the toe bowling episode? kd

I wore saddle oxfords all throughout school and even into high school...I just loved them.

I had a pair I wore as an adult in the 80's with bobby socks and skinny skirts. Of course, topped off with Cindy Lauper make-up and funky hair

Back to the 70's...I loved Laugh-in, M*A*S*H* and All in the Family. My dad watched all the cop shows that were an hour long. All of them

I loved Barney Miller b/c while it was funny, they dealt with some serious stuff, too.

On a regional fad note: We would buy 2-3" mexican style woven trim and sew it to the bottom of our jeans for length and we would be so cool

I was searching for a picture of the trim I was talking about and came across this! These are not mine, but I had a pair EXACTLY like them!
