I'm not particularly fond of Halloween, even though I did allow the munchkin to dress up and go trick or treating when he was younger. It seems to have turned into such a bizarre huge ordeal nowadays ... I'm all for fun, but Halloween is just a weird "celebration" imo.

Tonight we are going to see a movie with some friends.

I know that you are in a motel right now, but when you were in your house did you hand out candy to the Kiddles?

No, I didn't.

Regardless of what day the calendar shows, I don't answer my door after dark . . . unless someone specifically calls me and tells me they're coming by.

And, with all the weirdness that can happen on and because of Halloween, I've just never felt comfortable opening my door to a parade of strangers . . . even if such parade takes place before dark.

If I were to do anything on Halloween, I would prefer to have a private party, by invitation only.

Besides, I don't hold very popular opinions regarding loading kids up with a bunch of processed sugar and chemicals.

When CS was alive, he gave candy specifically to his grandchildren and his neighbor's children; but that was it. That was fun . . . to see the kids' costumes. But I still felt uncomfortable about the candy thing.

Most of the places I have lived . . . have not been "hot spots" for trick-or-treaters anyway.

We didn't hand out candy last night either... but with our house so far off the beaten path, people usually don't even know we're back here.

Good Morning All!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

A while back I started a thread in singles asking everyone what they would be looking for in a singles group. My church was in the process of looking for a singles pastor for the 35-55 crowd, or so we thought. Now we have found out that they have rehired the pastor that started the older singles group 60+ to lead a singles group 35-100 The older singles group has had something like 400 vistors and the group remains at about 35-40 people on a good day. I was really hoping to be very involved in getting a new group off and running, I'm just not sure this pastors vision and mine will line up. The guy I co-lead the singles parents group with has pretty much written it off. I would sit down and meet with the guy, but who am I? I have only been going to the church since April. I am really praying about what God would have me do now. This church really does not have a vision for singles and singles make up about half of the adults in the area acccording to data the church gathered. I was really looking forward to this, so I am feeling alot of disappointment.

If anyone feels led to pray please do. It is just so sad that the needs of singles are so easily passed over.

God is not surprised, He is in control.
His hand is not short.
He is still All powerful, All knowing and All Loving.
His Spirit can still soften hearts, change minds and instill hope.

I pray that God will surround our new leader with The wisdom of many Godly councilors, who will speak the truth into his ears daily. Lord I pray that you would make his heart receptive to your truth. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I have an anouncement to make:

My daughter has her first boyfriend!

It is so cute.............and kinda scary.

It's just a "go together" at school thing, so I let her do it. It's not like they will be going out, they are only 14.

The only thing that bothers me about it, is my husband would have said no and I said yes.

Hope you had a blessed Christmas. Praying 2009 is full of wonderful things for you & your girls.

I wondered about that, cuz it was no longer on the PFY list.

Pooh's other Thotful Spot.

I'm not feeling so Poohish anymore....It just does not fit.

The only thing I have leaned towards is "Gleanings". **shrugs**
