Evangel70 -> Obama "Outraged" (4/29/2008 8:41:42 PM)

(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama said he is "outraged" by comments his former minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, made Monday at the National Press Club and is "saddened by the spectacle."

"I have been a member of Trinity Church since 1992. I have known Rev. Wright for almost 20 years," he said at a news conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. "The person I saw yesterday is not the person I met 20 years ago."

Obama said he is outraged by Wright's remarks that seemed to suggest the U.S. government might be responsible for the spread of AIDS in the black community and his equation of some American wartime efforts with terrorism. ….

Obama said Wright's comments were not only "divisive and destructive," but they "end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate."

Rest of story here

Do you think Obama will change any minds?

The bad part for BO is that these statments are not anything new. What is new is that all of the sudden many more people are hearing them.

inthysite -> RE: Obama "Outraged" (4/29/2008 9:45:09 PM)

I don't understand why Obama is suddenly "outraged". Just 48 hours ago he was still defending the man and Rev. Wright in his 2 hour diatribe didn't really say anything we haven't heard/seen before.

He was always complaining that his statements were taken out of context but then he went and repeated them almost verbatim during his news conference, validating everything everyone has been saying about him, we'll except for the statements trying to support/defend what he had said.

And now Barack is outraged?!! Too little, too late. He should have been outraged years ago and left that church but it served his purpose then, and now it will cost him the election. Sorry bud, sucks to be you!

Yes he is, you are just a tool and the people who swooned over you, the new messiah, are fools.

This is why Obama finally got mad at Rev. Wrong. "What particularly angered me was his suggestion somehow that my previous denunciation of his remarks were somehow political posturing," Obama said, adding that Wright had shown "little regard for me" and seemed more concerned with "taking center stage."

He was personally insulted. Making up crazy lies about our country and other people wasn't so bad, but insulting him and he suddenly becomes outraged. The anger was way too late and for the wrong reason.

I agree with this statement... too late and too little AND for the wrong reasons.

Obama, if not for his friends and unGodly polices, seems nice, his wife seems like a she devil. Obama I heard was arrogant in private. Who Knows? We know his wife is arrogant, and angry, she is pretty when I seen her smile though. I bet she tells Obama where the chickens come home to roost too. I bet she tells him, when to sit and stand.

I give him points for being honest.

Wright is selfish.

Which time - when he defended Wright, when he acted like he hadn't heard Wright, or when he was outraged by Wright?

LOL.

The most important person he was dishonest to, was hisself. For 20 years.

He is trying to fool us.

Is it the garrison keillor or the "gnat"

Clever omission Jack.

Obama was clearly referring to Wright's comments of the previous day.

Wright's 'comments of the previous day' are no different then his comments for the last twenty years, which Obama variously defended, acted like he hadn't heard, etc.

The only reason he is reacting the way he is now is because he realizes the fine Rev. isn't going away...

Of course. It's all about damage control and the 1st rule of politics: Don't let others define who you are.

Well sure; Obama's problem is that he doesn't seem particularly bothered about what Wright has said other than the fact that it is effecting his campaign.

Is not that a life principal Colin Powell uses in his leadership list?

Birdiecat -> RE: Obama "Outraged" (5/2/2008 6:34:16 AM)

Obama really has no right to be angry. Afterall, J. Wright is his long-time buddy. He uninvited Wright to speak when Obama announced his presidential run because of Wright's mouth. Obama and Mr. Wright are just a little too close to Louis Farahkan to suit me. Why would a Christian attend a million man march sponsored by the nation of islam and Farahkan? I smell something rotten in Illinois! Obama is the most liberal person to EVER serve in the Illinois Legislature. Don't need him!!

lightshineon -> RE: Obama "Outraged" (5/2/2008 8:34:52 AM)

I am afaid I agree, Farahkan is a very vile man, and a believer has no reason to align themselves with a person like that.
