During the end of my nursing time with Nathan, I thought that my supply was getting very low. He's been completely weaned for more then a week now (and it went fine), but I am still producing milk during alone time with my husband.

Husband doesn't care, but how long will this keep up?

You might not entirely dry up since your pregnant. When I weaned Gabby it took about 2-3 weeks for me to stop leaking during "alone" time.

yeah what Ryanne said. IME (getting pregnant three times while nursing) it was different each time. The first time I had colostrum in one breast, and milk in the other...and I had stopped nursing in the first trimester. The second time my milk never dried up in either breast (stopped nursing in the beginning of the second trimester). This time (stopped nursing at the end of the second, nearly the third trimester) I went back to having colostrum at the beginning...but the milk was coming in very quickly (like within the first six hours....that's very early for me). So it could be that you won't dry up at all (or quit leaking) because of the hormones from pregnancy...or you could dry up and start over again after the baby comes.

I stopped nursing Levi in January, at about 7 weeks pregnant. I have had no milk, not even a tiny bit of leakage like I normally have at this stage of pregnancy. It's kind of nice.[:D] My nipples are VERY sore the past few days though, so they must be preparing. So sore I can't stand anyone to touch them, not even me!

I have a question for you bfing pros... since we're pumping for a nighttime bottle I sometimes will go 7-8 hours between breastfeeding (like 8pm to 3 or 4 am since dh does a bottle between). Can this cause my supply to get low if Caden is still nursing every 3 hours the rest of the time?

Your body should adjust to what is being asked of it. So...you may lose some supply and have to use formula for that one bottle feeding. It is a risk. Or it might not...different bodies do different things, KWIM? You should still be fine for day time though, no different than if he was sleeping all night.

Thanks - maybe I will try to pump right before bed just to help keep it up. I'm usually still up an hour or two after I feed him last.

BTW, I love the new avatar - it's so nice to put a face with the name. [:)]

My sister just had a horrible experience with her ob. She went in for her check up and also asked about her breasts since they are still so sore in a few spots. He thought it might be clogged ducts and gave her several things to try- after a week, no change so she called back. He said it might be a minor case of thrush and he would call something in for her. Great. Her husband got the script, she read the pamphlet thing and started taking it. Four days later, her 7 week old started screaming uncontrollably and vomiting violently non-stop. She called the pediatrician who realized that the medication she was on was a 2 (1 being the worst most dangerous, 5 being not too bad) and she needed to stop nursing immediately. She was devastated feeling she had been poisoning him. Her doctor knew she was nursing- he was giving her an rx to help her nursing! Please remember to ask your doctor and the pharmacist multiple times if what they are doing is safe for nursing b/c sometimes they make mistakes. Henry seems to be coming through it alright, but what a rough couple days!

Good reminder. I sometimes feel like I'm nagging when I ask that over and over, but know it's so important and doctors do make mistakes too.

Thanks, Lily! It's the first really good picture of Brian and I in years. I was a bit hesitant to put it up because I usually don't like pictures of myself, but that one's growing on me.[:D]

Jennifer, how scary! That's a good reminder for all of us.

Donna - you're lovely, and Brian's hand on your belly is too sweet.[:)]
