Our current doctor will do whatever I demand, but I may have to demand, KWIM? I don't want to have to fight over every single shot. My mom told me I may be the talk of the break room, but who cares? Levi has a well child appointment next week, and he's due for his MMR and varicella. He's getting neither right now. We'll do the MMR, hopefully separately, around 2, and the varicella at 11 or 12, or sooner if he goes to school at some point.

I haven't read Dr. Sear's book yet (just got it today!), but the info I've read on the book says it isn't pro or anti-vaccine. Which book?

Oh goodness, when the story starts out.. "I honestly didn't know he was sick", then you know it's interesting. Nathan and I were out running errands when I decided to stop into a Starbucks, as I was waiting for my drink Nathan began throwing up something bad over both of us. It wasn't just a little spit up. The only thing I could do really was hold him. The baristas were really nice, actually, they brought out towels and a bag for Nathan's clothes. He was so bad that I decided clean up was a lost cause I just just stripped him down to his diaper. Public indecency laws prevented me from taking off my own shirt, though I really wanted to. I was next to clothing stores, but I just wanted to get us both home ASAP. He threw up again in the car (dh cleaned the car seat) and twice more at home. He wouldn't nurse, but he did sip some water before taking a nap in my arms downstairs. It's been a long, long time since that's happened. He's up now with his dad and looking much better. Drinking pretty well. But holding a puking baby in the middle of Starbucks is a memory that's gonna stick with me for a long time.

Yup. I might even go back to say thanks, but without the sick baby in tow. Honestly, it was a huge shock to me. I knew he wasn't feeling completely sunny and chipper, but with a non-verbal toddler, I couldn't tell the difference between a little cranky and sick. Just minutes prior he'd been having a great time at the play area and looking at the animals at the pet store. Even though it was 2pm on a weekday, they were pretty packed with customers, so I'm sure they wanted to keep things as calm as possible, but they seemed genuinely sympathetic.

Even with a verbal child, they don't give warning sometimes. One time, we went to church and all the kids acted fine all morning. Nick puked as soon as we walked in the door, and Noah was puking within an hour. I felt awful that we had exposed everyone in church to a tummy bug...but we had NO idea they were sick!

My brother went from fine to puking in the middle of a high school science class- even much older ones don't always expect it! ((Ruth and Nathan))

Donna, it's in my pile of books to read.. but from what you've read so far, do I need to read this BEFORE the baby? Or can I put it on the list to read while nursing?
