Does fenugreek come over the counter or by prespription?

It's OTC, but hard to find at a drugstore. You would have to go to a health food store to get some.

I got my bottle at Fred Meyer. I think I have seen it at Walmart as well but price wise you'll probably have better luck at a vitamin or suppliment store. We just don't have one close to us. You can also take Alfalfa but I didn't read about that until after I bought the fenugreek. It seems to me that the alfalfa had fewer possible side effects. Oatmeal can also help up your supply as can taking Metamucil, something about the fiber.

I have no idea about the "brick dust", so I'm glad others do.

Levi has developed his own language over the past couple days. He just jabbers and jabbers all day long, but I can only pick out a word here or there. Silly boy...

Also, Blessed Thistle and Goats Rue can also be helpful in increasing milk supply. But this is probably better talked about in the breastfeeding thread

My children are driving me batty this morning and simultaneously destroying my house. I think I'm going to have to break my two days of no driving anywhere, just to maintain our sanity.

Too cute! Zachary lost his fifth tooth at Applebees on Sunday and he had to announce it to everyone at the table and even our waitress. Then at night he said he wanted a dollar from the tooth fairy. When I went in to check on him he was still awake and I told him that they only come when you are sleeping. When Ryan went in there Zachary was sleeping (his body) on his pillow. Ryan said it was really hard to find the tooth (we put it in a snack zip lock baggy) because he had his body on it.

I took Jimmy to the doc last night, and yep, he does have an ear infection. She prescibed him something different this time. A very distant cousin of amoxicillin, related to penecillin. It's called Cefuroxime, but it tastes so nasty that he just spits it out and cries. I'm going to see if he'll take it this morning, and if not, I'll call the doc and ask for something else. I tasted amoxicillin and azythromiacin, and they aren't very bad tasting. I don't know why a doctor would prescribe something so nasty to an almost 1 year old, when everyone knows you can't talk them into eating something nasty for their own good.

Manda,
I don't know if you saw my response on the last page to your post. Nice sig, BTW. You should get everyone's posts who said something like that, so you have a long list. LOL!

Nicole, you can buy Fenugreek at a place like GNC like a place that only sells vitamin supplements. If you have a Kroger by you, they might sell it since Julie said she saw it at Fred Meyer. It's the same store basically. But, I don't think you can find it at a pharmacy or regular sized grocery store.

Manda, thank you for that useful info. I wonder if I can buy Pulsatilla at a health food store or something.

You may well be able to. Check online as to what dosage to give him, and also check on what form it comes in (tablets, powder, liquid).

quote:

Manda, does it cure an ear infection, or help ease the pain of one?

I am thinking it does both. Rhus tox. not only cleared up my cold sores but stopped me getting them too.

quote:

Do homeopathic doctors write regular drug prescriptions too?

Yes.

quote:

Like I could just switch the kids over, and not have to see a regular doctor anymore because the homeopathic doctor can meet all needs?

I personally would always see both, not just the homeopath - unless I could find a general practitioner who is also a homeopath.

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question! How do you keep your babies cool in the car in the summer? My car doesn't have back seat a/c, and the air from the front doesn't circulate to reach Levi since he faces backwards. If I turn the air on full blast in an attempt to reach him, I freeze. lol. Now that the weather is warming up, I get him out of the car to find him all hot and sweaty.

I never figured that one out either. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but an older model that doesn't have back seat a/c. So it was hard during the summer, but I love to be cold so I would just crank the a/c up until I felt like it had cooled off enough in the back for him then turn it down lower. It is much nicer once they can be forward facing in that aspect. Now you have to share food with them because they can see ya...just kidding!

Amber, would it help any if you cooled off the car a bit before you loaded up? Kind of like you do when you warm it up during the winter? Just a thought. I'm making mental notes of any advice ya get because my car doesnt have backseat air and I get cold easily!

in the car sections of most stores you can find fans that you plug into the cigarette lighter and can clip to something or put in the window then roll it up. If you have not so good air flow I would suggest getting one of those.

Might work! I can at least try.

Cool! (no pun intended lol) My hubby mentioned something like that but we weren't sure if there really was such a thing and hadn't looked yet.

I have the opposite problem. Our van has separate front and back controls and I can't feel how cold or warm it is in the back. Apparently my other kids are reptiles and they like it cold because several times I've gotten Levi out and found he had FREEZING hands or legs! We now keep a blanket in the car for him year round.

I found a battery powered fan at Overtons.com. I bought one for my nephew because he couldn't regulate his temperature but I don't remember if it had a clip. You would want to find a way to secure it better than just a clip on anyway in the event of stopping short or whatnot, you don't want it to become a projectile.

you may be able to find a fan that attaches with a suction cup to a window or glass surface. Like I said, check automotive dept's of stores for what is available. I know they have had them for years...my sister had one in her van when I was a teen (it had no air in the back too). The only bad thing about that one was you had to remember to turn it off or it would drain the battery...but that was something like 15 years ago...I am sure they have come a long way since then. Even if you can't find them for vehicles, you can find adapters that you plug into a cigarette lighter then can plug any regular plus into int. We have one for our van so we could charge the camera battery or laptop in the van. I think it was about $10 for that adapter. Then you can just get a small desk fan from any fan section of just about any major store.

What age did everyone's babies start crawling? Nath can stay on his knees if I put him up and will sometimes do it on his own, but then falls on his belly crying and kicking his legs. He is 7.5 months, Grace was crawling well at 6 months.

Depends on the baby, Nicole. The development chart that we have says that they should be scooting between 7-9 months, so he still has time.
