I am just hoping to make it to May 18 (37 weeks.) I really don't think I will make it to June, but we'll see.

Hehe Donna. I noticed the same thing...it really got me laughing!

I called the doctor today and his receptionist told me to go into the hospital because he was on call there and he would want to look me over just to be safe. Everything seemed to be fine and all tests came back negative aside from another UTI (which seems to be wanting to stick around as long as possible). But right before I left the doctor peeked his head back in and asked if he could do an US and I am SO glad that I agreed because we found out that my pain was all a result from my baby turning!! I am so happy. I do fully realize that it could keep turning, but right now the pain just seems to all be worth it. I know the head was still up yesterday evening, but the pain got worse as the spotting lessened into the evening and the doctor said that is most likely when the baby made the flip. He also suggested that I "take it easy" for the next little while.
I see my dr again on Friday morning.
Thanks for the advice!

Sarah Skillful- Welcome to the pregnancy thread! My BD is December 29th. It gives me something to whine about.

Emily- I hope your week starts getting better! How many days until you're done with school?

Frozen meals would be great. Hopefully in late summer I'll start nesting and get to it. Right now my freezer is packed full anyway with elk, duck, grouse, pheasant, buffalo, and a 1/4 cow.

These two posts in a row cracked me up...

quote:

ORIGINAL: HomeSpunLady

You know about the meals, I'm pretty sure my church will be throwing me a baby shower and asking what I want. I am going to ask for casseroles that can be frozen with the instructions and those throw away containers be brought in lieu of a gift so that I can pop them in the freezer and anyone who is helping in the house can heat them up. I figure that's the most practical way to get what we really need. We really don't need other baby things. And there is no such thing as delivery here where we live. Plus I might get some really cool dinners that way and I can ask later for the recipe!!

quote:

True, true. The other thing I would actually ask for is a 24 hour urine collection. Even if your dip is negative, you can still have protein in your urine. Being overly hydrated, or having clear urine can actually cause a false negative result.

So, Kathryn, if you decide you need more than just meals, you can ask your church to collect their urine for 24 hours.

Emily, the end is uncomfortable, for sure, but those are good signs too! I hope you're able to rest a bit after finals and before baby day!

That made both hubby and I laugh. Donna I can always count on you to make me laugh just when I need it. Thank you!!

Tomorrow is my last final exam and then I will be done (for now.)

I think I am nesting too. I keep reorganizing things and driving Chris crazy. Also, I have washed all of the baby's clothes and "preped" all of the cloth diapers. Now I am going crazy waiting for the dresser to get here so I can put things away.

Stephanie, make sure they keep careful watch of this. A persistent UTI can actually cause preterm labor.

You're very welcome, Kathryn. Sometimes I have a sick sense of humor...but I'm glad you thought it was funny too.

I don't like to either, which is probably why there are 5 loads of laundry on my bedroom floor that need to be washed. I hate having to go to the laundromat.

LOL, Laura! How true...there are things we all prefer not to do, but they must be done!

ETA...Ryanne, I do NOT miss the laundromat days one bit.

S/G, you can always do half birthdays in June when the baby gets older. Lots of people have December birthdays...it'll be okay.

Kathryn, I had to read that a couple times before I figured out what you were trying to say. Half-baked must mean something different here...but I do know you're talking about being 20 weeks now. WOOHOO!!!

Cool...I could deal with a Labor Day birth. Eek...that means school here starts the week of my due date. I will not worry about that now. I will not worry about that now. I will not worry about that now.

AH!! I hope you go one day after that. That's our wedding anniversary (9 years this year).

I am thankful that my hubby can do any thing around the house. His Mama taught him well. It was great when I was very pregnant and had days that I couldn't do much.

Joel's the same way. Acutally he's the one that usually does the grocery shopping. But he's completely capable of 'taking care of the house' and is a fantastic cook.

I was born on Sept 2, so my birthday falls on labor day weekend a lot. I'm not sure if I was born on labor day though.

Well maybe I can labor on Labor Day and then have Gideon/Esther on your anniversary. Although, it would kind of stink to be in labor on Labor Day...we always have a big BBQ at my mom's. I've already told my mom I'm bringing soda and nothing else (every holiday, we split up the food...but not this one for me!).

I'm getting really excited about meeting this baby already. Not sure how I'll survive waiting the next 17 or so weeks... And yes, I am bursting at the seams to "slip" and tell someone what we're having.

LOL...we have two that were both born the week after Christmas...our girls. Neither were planned for that time (in fact one was born at 37 weeks and the other was 43 weeks...lol). They are the 27th and 29th. I hate that they were "Christmas babies" though....but one good thing about it....we got to claim them on our taxes those years!!!! LOL

yeah we have not been good about celebrating the girls birthdays at that time....we do it a few weeks, or even a few months, later.

We have quite a few December b-days in my family too. Mine is 12/20. The only thing that I didn't like as a kid was when people would say, "this is a birthday and Christmas gift combined". Don't do that to a kid. LOL

Emily, if it makes you feel any better I have had a lot of those sensations for weeks now. When he dropped I started getting shooting pains down my legs, a lot of bowel pressure (kept thinking I had to have a BM), and sharp cramping in my rectal area (like a charley horse, but not in my legs like you). I also get contractions with BMs and if my bladder gets full at night and just a lot of period type cramping. This has been for a couple weeks, so you may still get to your 37 week mark (although I guess you never really know with your family).

ETA: swimming has helped A LOT with the pressure discomfort!

My hubby is a great cook, too! He has wonderful memories of cooking with his mom as a little boy. It was a real bonding experience for them, and it didn't make him the slightest bit girly.

My SIL was born on Jan 6th, so we call her an epiphany.

I was trying to catch up on all the posts since I was last online, but realised that I'll probably never be able to do that.

It feels strange to see that list without my name on it! Lily, I hadn't realised that you're so close to your due date!

And congratulations, SkillfulGourmet! I pray that you'll be holding a healthy baby in your arms at the end of the year.

Yep, very close now! I guess my due date on the list is one day off of what I've been saying in my signature. I think the one on the list is the most accurate b/c it was given by the RE based on the IUI. The one day earlier is what the OB is using based on LMP (I'll still use it in my signature just because). LOL

Oh - we took my BP last night. At first it was still 120/90, but after a few minutes in bed it went down to 115/80. As long as it doesn't go up I'm happy.

It looks like my mom has kidney stones. She gets the results of her cat scan Friday, but she is FREAKING out that I'll go into labor and she won't be able to be here immediately. I certainly hope she feels better soon and wouldn't wish kidney stones on anyone, but to be honest it would be nice to have a little time with just us right when the baby is born. Is that horrible?

Not at all lilly.

We are having my mom come out the last week in june. Baby should be here, we should have a semi routine down and feel good enough as parents to have company. Jer will go back to work and my mom will be able to help me out and get to know her granddaughter. I won't have all the pressures of newborn-ness and just given birth stress anymore. I hope. I know it won't be perfect but much better to my stressful self than having her from day one or even before and waiting.
