oh I just remembered I had a question for you ladies.... today when I visited my friend who had the twins.. she said because she had a scheduled C section.. her milk has not come in yet.. and when the hospital asked her to pump to bring on more colostrum and milk ..nothing was coming out..... which kind of makes sense cause her body didn't go through labour and so forth... does that mean I will take a while to have my milk come in? and how long would it take... last time I didn't have a hard time but I do remember that they did give my boy formula the first day or so and they gave me some to take home as well which I did use but I don't remember when ... and when exactly the full milk supply takes place... sorry if too many questions... Okay, I'm giving this a try... belly1 belly 2 They are not great pics, but they give a little idea. I was flattish in the belly region to start with and I now have 1/2 a basketball- perfectly round and firm (except a little underneath where the stretch marks have not reached full stretch again yet[8\|]). I don't feel like they do justice to how big I really am. For reference sake, I am about 14.5 inches extra side to side... Anyone want to guess how many? (Please don't guess more than two!) I'll find out Saturday unless the doctor hears something funny tomorrow. I never truly questioned with the girls, but I really wonder this time... I never measured big before at all... Oh, I am exactly 12 weeks and have only gained 1 pound so far...

Oh, and Donna, yes we do gifts too- nothing too crazy, last time it was about ten dollars (made her a sling and blanket and got her a little picnic set to play with). I think it helps with the bonding. I haven't decided what to do this time- Anna wll probably get a sling and Eleni will probably get something for her doll house (actually, she will, she will get the big sister for Christmas, and I already bought the big sister room on clearance, so that will be from the baby so she'll be able to act it out in her doll house- it cost $6 when I got it).

You milk can take anywhere from 3-5 days to come in, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Mine came in right at 3 days.

Great story, Kara. I can picture the masseuse now with her surprised look. Doona - Did you have heartburn with the other kids? Did they have hair when born? I heard it is an old wives tale. My son had a lot of hair when born, and I had heartburn with him.

My experience with the heartburn fits the old wives' tale. Now whether it is true or not is another story. I had massive heartburn nearly every night. Thank you Tums & MILK for soothing the burn. My son emerged from the womb ready for his first hair cut! Here's a pic of him at 2 mos. which really doesn't even do justice to how much hair he had! I wish I had his going home from the hospital pic on this computer, but I can't find it.

Sherry, I had a c-section....it took 5 days for my milk to come in. I was able to pump a little colostrum so Levi got that along with a little formula. (he simply refused to nurse for several weeks)

EgyptianPrincess, Inability to pump colostrum doesn't mean anything. Delivery of the placenta signals the body should begin producing milk, not labor. Having a c-section shouldn't delay milk coming in. My milk came in at 4 days with my 1st c-section (after a long labor), and 2 days after my 2nd (scheduled C).

She had colostrum, it's ALL that a baby needs for the first couple days unless there is a medical reason to give formula. A baby is actually fine with very, very little intake for the first 24 hours by then if they are nursing well the colostrum is all they need and your milk should be in shortly after. The more you nurse the faster your milk comes in, so using formula to supplement really just drags the process out.

All of my kids have followed the heartburn=hair thing. First baby...no heartburn, no hair (well, a tiny bit of fuzz...). Second baby, horrible heartburn, 2" long hair that stuck straight up. Third baby, a bit of heartburn, and a bit of hair. I predict this one will have more hair than #3 and less than #2, based on the amount I've had heartburn so far. I slept in this morning and then the power went out the second I went to get out of bed. No idea why. It's not storming and they aren't doing construction anywhere I could see. We waited a few hours and then loaded up our fridge/freezer contents to bring to my moms. The thought of throwing away all that food made me sick.[:o]

I had really bad heartburn all the way through my first pregnancy, and my ds was born bald, and hardly had any till he was about 18 months old!

Donna - I can't wait to hear the results of your observations. I haven't had any heartburn with this pregnancy. I wonder if she won't have hair. Hmm!

The only pregnancy where I had heartburn regularly was #4 ... and he came out with a head full of dark brown hair!!! #1-3 had full heads of hair as well ... but blond (almost white). This time around, I've had heartburn a couple of times ... but it was when I knowingly did something dumb (like have spicy food and lie down immediately after)

I have heartburn from drinking WATER! I really hope our baby has a lot of hair...I think babies will tons of hair are so CUTE!!!

I'm with ya Erin. Seems like just about anything causes it. Tums do work, but I don't like using them much. I found papaya enzyme at walmart for a good price and it works. Tastes like candy.

I use Tums alot. I got the little travel bottle for my purse. It has gotten a little better after i changed my diet for the gall bladder. I only take one and it seems to knock the heartburn, I never have to go back for another so I dont feel too bad popping them since the recommended dosage is at least two. I hope all the heartburn means a cute head of hair! Though he probably will, in our families little girls are born bald and boys have tons of super cute hair-perfect for bows! [8D]

I have to laugh ... simply because Tums GAVE me heartburn instead of eliminating it!!! (Ya, I have a freaky body which does the opposite to what it's supposed to do)

No heartburn for me, at all really. I think the nausea and puking more than made up for it though! [:'(] And I still have a few more weeks. I'm a little bummed...out stroller/travel system we registered for isn't available anymore. I've been reading around and it looks like some people have been able to get them on clearance at BRU or TRU. Guess I'll have to call on Friday and see if they have any at the stores. There are two stores but they're each about 40 minutes away. I have some gift cards and cash from my shower, which should mostly cover it. If I can find it!
