Aw, how disappointing. It's probably a good thing to pay down the mortgage, but a patio table would be so nice, too.

Can you talk to him and see if you can do both? That would still leave $2,000 to put toward the mortgage.

Awesome Ellie!

I wish I could come up and help you plug in all 50 gazillion plug protectors you will need to plug in.

remember each agency is going to have different things they look for in your home- please remember to tell um that you need to know what they require(most have a list) so you can hop on it posthaste. If they know you are willing to make the things happen the way they want it then you get more smiles!

Also- is there anyway to have moms place have it's own front entry? Does it have one that just is not being used? Does it have a separate address? how hard would that be(a roadside mailbox and the post office being notified?) If you can say it is a separate dwelling/address with grandma close by for lots of visits and support then you probably won't have to deal with that area being "inspected" as harshly as your place OR have her and your brother on the paperwork and clearances and all. Ya know- might be cheaper and less work for you and Russ in the long run. am I making sense?

My day: Started at 2:00am when I finally went to bed. I tossed and turned until Jerry's alarm went off and my body said "Okay- he is at work you can stop looking for him" and actually went to sleep... then the girls popped in at 10:00 and said time to get up! but left me to lie there til nearly 11 when the phone started ringing like grand central station- I really needed to get up at 10:00 but.....

The bulletin gets done this morning. (Ooooo it is nearly noon so it gets done this afternoon)
The library gets visited this afternoon.
Mr. B will be at the library.

Practices the key phrases "*ahem* Dance Space" and "Don't make your Momma mad."

Jerry's deal is over today but I am not stupid enough to think that he will actually be released. The boss will keep him around til it is too late to check out and then he wil have to stay over night and not get to leave til Friday morning and THEN his boss will have the AUDACITY to think he will be going into the office...

I am gonna have to get this mans phone number and tell him he has been outranked by the Lipstick 6. I will do it too- remember this is the man that the first thing he ever said to me was "You got 6 kids? don't you know what causes that?" and my reply- "Yes- and we *really* enjoy it." WOF would be so proud of me. I have always wanted to say that in reply to that particular question and I knew this fella was asking the question for shock value- he does things like that to get away with folks so I gave him a shock value answer- it worked, he just turned and walked away and hasn't messed with me since.

No, it's his money and he will spend it how he sees fit. At the end of the year I was getting calls/letters thanking us for our "generous contribution". Seems dh wrote checks for $500 to 5 or 6 charities. Without talking it over with me.

Interesting. Is your name on the check? If so, I would negotiate a settlement.

It probably should be on the check if he filed joint taxes.

Ezri, I am making a sticky not to remind me to ask for that list. That is a great idea for more than just a couple of reasons.

I know what you mean about making mom's place seperate, but that would cause issues in other areas. Anyway, We have all had background and fingerprint checks already, except for AS. AND my mom adopted Fred through the Foster care system. I don't think that them being here will be a problem. The lady I talked to seem happy that we have so many loving adults here. That was nice. I asked her if the fact that we five children now would be a problem, but she said that it wasn't. II keep vacilating between being light headed, nervous, hopeful, tearful...

Am I really ready to go through his again? Would I ever feel ready if I were to wait for that feeling? <takes deep breath> Nope, so I might as well get started now.

Ez, i know that i haven't said much about the deployment and all the stuff that lead up to it. I just have anything to offer. Even when I am praying for you, I feel at a loss. II have been praying that God would just be with you all and guide you and protect and give strength to not just Jerry, but all of you. I have been also telling God that beyond that, I just don't know what is the right thing to ask for. I know what I WANT to ask for, but I don't think that Jerry would want me pray for that (and it is selfish) so I have been just asking God to insert His desires in place of mine and help me to accept them, and to help all of you with that too. {{{Ez and Family}}}

I'm sorry. That would upset me greatly if my husband did that also.

Okay, I am ticked. The kids asked to go for a walk down the bike path. Sure, we've been doing that all winter. It was a nice day and we usually have a good time. They asked if we wer going to the Slippery Bridge (3m), which I said yes. I walked, ds1 walk/ran, ds2 walked, ds3 roller blades and ds4 razor scooter. At .25m we go past a skate park. They had to widen the bike path here so an ambulance can fit, and there's a pay phone. Uh, yah. Anyway, the kids usually leap frog. I get to the .5m bridge and realize that I haven't seen the kids. On a hunch, I turn back around. I find ds2, 3 and 4 at the skate park. I sent them back to the van to wait for ds1. But why? They were having fun! With no supervision, I don't think so! Plus they lied to me. They lipped off the entire way back to the van, while waiting for ds1 (I was wasting their time, they could be having fun while waiting, etc) and the entire way back home. They are now grounded to their rooms.

Was I right to be ticked? If so, how would you punish them?

more time in their room or loss of privileges for giving you lip and more if they keep it up?

Praying for Noah to feel better & be more agreeable! Glad the surgery went OK.

Zoe - praying for your van too. Hope the mailbox situation gets resolved to your satisfaction. It's always amazing to me how people can be so inconsiderate of others!!

Sue - praying you feel better & no one else gets your bug!

Kara - it IS a good thing they are cute & funny isn't it!!!

Ez - the business cards look great!!

Ellie - praying!!!!!!!!!!

His - I'd have been ticked too! I think loss of privileges is a good consequence! After all, if you are going to act like a little kid, you can't do the things big kids are allowed to do!! We've had ds wander off in a store & he had to hold on to the cart for the next 10 times we went shopping (this was not that long ago BTW)!

We had a rough start to the day. Dd had a nightmare & I ended up going into sleep with her for a while. I had just got settled back into bed when dh's alarm went off! I was able to go back to sleep for a while though. Ds now has NO Braces!! He's got a "permanent retainer (wire on the back of the teeth) on the bottom and a removable bright green retainer for the top! Guess they make retainers in all kinds of colors now, not just the denture colored ones like I had! I've gotta go finish up my commissary list & dd has a bit of Math left to finish, so we can be to base by 2:30 to meet dh. Dd is getting her ID today!

We finally got the letter with the information we need to be able to write Jake. I had a letter started already so I could send it out the same day his letter came. I don't know if I've mentioned it in this thread, but Jake called Saturday and said his knee was locking up on him. This has never happened before. He was supposed to be going to have it checked out on Monday and there was a possibility he'd be sent home on a medical discharge. We haven't heard anything more so maybe they were able to do something for him. Anyway, please keep that in prayer.

Ellie, that's exciting news. It looks like these people will be more open to working with your family.

Amy, I'm glad your dd is getting her id today. I'm sure she's excited.

Hazel, you were absolutely right to punish them. I'd have done the same...go to your room(s) and also no electronics for the rest of the day. If the lip continued, it would be extended or chores added.

Sue, praying.

Your kids disobeyed you. They knew the plan and they disregarded what you told them, then lied to you. I think you handled it fine.

If he really wants to do this, then encourage him to stay! They make it pretty hard to get out and will usually work pretty hard with you to overcome medical problems. At least in the Marine Corps anyway...

If they'll let him stay, he will. If they send him home, he wants to have arthroscopic surgery if that will fix it and try again. I'm guessing that all the PT has caused some inflammation. I don't know if the base doc will give them pain/anti-inflammatory meds, but that might be all he'd need to keep going.

whoever he is seeing will probably refer him off base to be seen (or they would if he were out of basic..I don't know about since he is still in training). Anyway, if they do refer him off base, tell him that he wants "Dr Wayne Johnson" (Premier Orthopedics)...that is Paul's dr and he is THE BEST in this area!!!!

Don't know about the Army, but 800 mg Motrin is known as "Air Force Candy" around here. I'm sure they will try some meds 1st. Praying it isn't more serious.

Dd's ID came out good. Dh & Ds are off to swim tests for scouts (for camp this summer). I got all our commissary shopping done & even ran into one of our MOPS moms in the commissary & found out her dh is deployed & her computer just crashed, so I gave her our home number so she could call to have dh come over & look at it!! He loves helping people out & it will make him feel good that he can do it again.

Meeting with the principal today went well. She offered me the opportunity to take over all the administrative duties of extended care for a $2/hr raise. Also some mornings and they will probably offer it on half days which is 6 hrs. I think once we get the program going for the year it will only be a couple hrs a week of admin duties: making up the spreadsheet with the schedule of which kids when and then tallying their totals at the end of the week.

I should make enough money to do OK too.

This job will contain the 2 things that I think I am good at and like: organizing events/people (I don't mind sitting at a computer doing the paper work necessary to organize a trip or some activity for a bunch of people and then contact those people with necessary information) and I like working with kids in the 4-8 yr old range. I couldn't figure out how to get a job in that though since my degree is in teaching high school math. This job covers both of the areas I like. The kids can be through middle school but most of the kids I have are in preK-2nd grade. There are only a few that are older than 2nd grade.

I survived another day at work.

Everyone is really stressed out, because bigwigs are coming tomorrow. I kid you not, the boss was going from desk to desk making us clean them off, and the receptionist made her b/f bring her a carpet cleaner! We are also supposed to dress 'nicely'--like I have anything nice to wear in 90 degree weather?! And these bigwigs are gonna be here for ten minutes?! Sigh.

Ellie, that is really encouraging. I didn't know Fred was adopted.

Um, Ez...did you seriously tell that guy that you REALLY enjoy adoption?
