DS had his interview with the YP and an elder to join the church and take communion. It went well and they will recommend him for membership at the session meeting next week.

Tonight is awards ceremony for AWANA. The kids are excited and have their stuff all ready. DS's vest is in the dryer. We leave in about half an hour

Does he get his Sparky award tonight? Is he going to camp-a-rama, and is it the same one Noah is going to (how cool would that be!)?? Our closing is tomorrow.

Even if he was going it would probably be one closer around here. I know there are some in Md only about an hr or so away. I don't hear about it though so I am not sure our church participates.

Ah, that's right. I forgot because he's ahead in school work, isn't he? Sounds like he's really good with memorization too. Good job, kiddo!

Noah fought his way through this third book. He made it through the first two twice with not too much trouble. I'm proud of him for finishing this book once. I looked at his TnT book for next year...wowza. I hope it doesn't become too much stress for him. I'd rather have him there and learning than focus on how much he can memorize when he seems to really struggle with that, KWIM? Our boys' TnT leaders are great though and I'm sure he'll be fine.

ETA...the camp Noah is going to is in PA, so I wasn't sure.

I don't expect a problem with his third book. He get done his books so early. I think he's usually done the first time by Halloween. He's always had about 6 weeks to spare after finishing everything.

My kids also buy the CD's with the songs for the verses which helps. DD2 had no problem with T&T book 1 and she was actually the age DS will be next year. The books are easier now so I don't foresee a problem there.

((((Ezri))))

Busy weekend here! Ds1 and I rode up to Grandma's yesterday and back home today. 85miles each way. We had a blast!!!

My aunt was there yesterday. I got the "full report" on when my parents were there. They were there for about a week, and I guess my dad was a jerk the whole time. Why my aunt is mad at me, I'll never understand. Hey--I KNOW my dad can be a jerk. Nothing I can do about it!

Grandma is doing GREAT! Only problem is she "forgets" (ie refuses to use) her walker. She's nearly blind due to cateracts, which really affects her balance. Plus she's really hunched over which doesn't help either... Every time we catch her without her walker, she sheepishly says "Oh, I forgot..." Yah, right Grandma.

GREAT news Sarah!! Praying all the timing works out for Everyone!!

Annie - glad your Grandma is doing better! Praying for her & for you (and your dh too)!

WOF - praying for you!

((((Ez)))) - praying for you guys too!!!

I need to go teach ds how to mow the grass, but they're watching a movie & truthfully - I don't feel like it!! Dh & I took a nap after church & I just can't seem to get moving. Maybe I'll go through a load of laundry in (at least that would be productive)! We stopped by the Russell Stover outlet last night, so I may get a piece of fudge on the way to the laundry room! I'm sure the chocolate would help me have more energy - right?

His, it always amazes me how people hold us responsible for our relatives' behavior. I mean if it's your kids it's understandable, but adults that we didn't raise are a whole 'nuther story.

Ashley was feeling pukey last night, and now I am feeling a bit queasy myself. Yuck. Some things I just wish my kids wouldn't share.

I am sorry there's crud at your house, Cindy.

Zoebob, your son's memorization is amazing! I had to fight with my boys to get through a book in a year.

The boys are across the street socializing again. I don't know what I am going to do with them. They are giving homeschoolers a bad name

LOL, Jen!

Cindy - hope you get to feeling better & no one else gets it!

Well - I decided to be lazy & not do the grass today! I was thinking we would do it tomorrow after school is finished, but then I remembered that ds has a dentist appointment to redo the impressions for his retainer that didn't take last week(I think it's tomorrow, but I can't find the note where I wrote it down - that's what we get for cleaning the kitchen counter off huh?). So, now I need to call the dentist in the morning & find out IF it is tomorrow & what time! Anyway, I decided to make pot pie for dinner, so it's cooking & we're going to play a game after dinner! I do have the 2nd load of laundry in the washer, so at least the day wasn't a complete wash (pun intended )!

Thank you Jen. ALl my kids memorize very well. I always did as a kid too. Closing ceremonies went well...once we got there. Yes, my car broke down again!! The belt fell off again. I called my parents and my dad picked me up on the way there. He will go out in the AM and put the belt back on. He will probably have it back to me before I am even awake.

Congratulations to all of the AWANA award winners!

This is the first year that my church has used a different program and it feels really strange. My group will only have one award winner. It is going to be a very different program this Wednesday.

What did they use, Julia?

Sorry about your car, Zoebob.

Well, the power steering fluid (I think that's what it was) was leaking and made everything really greasy. My dad got some stuff to seal the leak but I think it was just still greasy enough that it slipped off again. He fixed it in about 10 mins. this time I think.

Why, oh why can't I have a normal life??? Saturday night at church ds4 got into a fight with another kid. Punches were exchanged. Dh saw it and handled it. Once home, ds4 complained that his hand hurt. Sure enough, there's swelling. Dh didn't do anything Saturday. We got home early Sunday afternoon, and I didn't hear anything about it until dinner time. Yep, there's a lump. There's swelling. But, ds4 had no trouble manipulating his new transformer toy. He seemed a bit cranky but I figured dh had just let him stay up too late Saturday. Usually happens when I'm gone. THis morning we sit down to do testing. Ds4 can't hold a pencil... Not a problem, I can mark answers for him. So, ds4 now has a doctor's appt this afternoon.

Doctor won't be surprised to see us. I found out from another friend that he ran Flying Pig marathon yesterday, so I emailed him to congratulate him. Told him I'd most likely see him today...

I had hoped to get caught up on folding laundry while ds4 tested. Guess that's not gonna happen.

Russ ran a 5k Saturday. It is the first time that he has ever done anything like that since he was a little. I thought he did pretty well he placed 4th in his age group (there were 8 or 9 people that came after him), and 49 out of 140. The kids want to do it too next year. We will see.

I had a weird experience yesterday. I looked at david and saw Russ when we first met. I then realized that in less than four years David will be the same age as Russ was when we started dating. I am glad David won't be dating.

Almost done enough with David's room to start putting his stuff back in his room. I am really happy with the way it looks. I think that he will be too... better be.
