Camping in the middle of a crowded campground is just TERRIBLE!!  And, yes, an air mattress is a must!!

I have been "on the wagon" concerning camping for many years, now. I decided to swear off after...
The tent almost slid into a ravine. Then the mist came over the mountains and completely engulfed us to the point where hunting was hopeless. At which point we decided to strike camp and go home. At which point it began to rain furiously. Finally managing to get all the camping gear, containing many gallons of water, into the pickup along with two very small children, we got in and the truck threatened to slide backward into the ravine...miles from any kind of help.
After this, I actually agreed to go camping again. Arriving at dark at the campsite, we managed to set up and get to bed without noticing the infestation of fire ants. The next day, seeking relief from ants and heat in the water, we discovered that the water was coming directly off of a nuclear reactor plant and it was at least 98 degrees. Turns out, fire ants LOVE this...they propagate by floating down rivers to a new venue.
Returning to camp, we discovered that the fire ants had eaten through the plastic floor of our tent.
That was when I swore off. I've never had another desire to camp since then. Didn't need a 12 point program, either.
I'm cured.
