Julie, funny thing is that we've been praying over J's foot and he's already starting to use it a lot more even though the doctor said it might be up to eight weeks until it heals.

BTW, you made me laugh - heels/heals!

The boys who hurt J are on notice. Not only are they not to harm J, but they've been told that if they witness anyone else harassing him and don't report it then they will have the same consequences as the person who was giving him a hard time (a red card - doing something bad enough that it's an immediate phone call to their parents).

I'm still not sure whether I like that punishment or not. Dh and I are watching very closely how it pans out because right now our first instinct as parents is that these boys should not be let within 20m of our son.

But then the other part of me knows that these are young men who still have to grow in maturity too and that sometimes maturity comes from really messing up like they did when they hurt J's foot.

Kylie, were these two boys really just playing/messing around or were they trying to hurt him? Your comment on harassment made me wonder.

Kath, they're two boys who think it's fun to pick on smaller kids. This isn't the first run in J has had with them. They tore a brand new pair of tracksuit pants I bought him earlier in the year (I still haven't replaced them because we haven't had extra cash to do so yet), just mucking around of course.

I've just spent the evening making J do more work on an assignment. I looked at what he'd already done when he told me he'd completed it and then made him highlight on the assignment sheet which parts of the assignment criteria he'd covered. Doing that he discovered he still had about two thirds of the assignment to go.

Kylie, I would be livid if other children were allowed to treat mine that way with little to no consequences. (((((((((((((Kylie)))))))))))) ((((((((((((((((J)))))))))))))))

I think Noah has three weeks of school left. Standardized tests are June 9-13th and though I think he has school that next week, I doubt they do any school work, KWIM?

Went to a women's retreat last Thursday through Saturday with my mom, three aunts, and two cousins. Had to defend my choice not to use public school for my kids...to my aunt who is a public school teacher. I don't know why people have to take personal offense at decisions that have nothing to do with them and everything to do with MY kids!

Kylie-I'm glad that your ds's foot is feeling better. I hope that he makes rapid progress.

Donna-sorry about the inquisition concerning your educational choices. I know that it can be very tiring. Speaking of being tired, how are you feeling these days?

Pretty good, thanks. Some swelling and BP issues, and I don't plan on doing much beyond what is necessary this summer, but so far not too bad.

As of 15 minutes ago - Ty has 3 days of school left. The younger 3 have 3 days and 45 minutes.

I have not received an e-mail back from the school board yet and if I don't by the time of their next meeting I'm gathering a group of concerned parents from out my way and we are going to "crash the party" so to speak.

I had planned on going in to school today, but then decided against it. I would just rather stay HOME if I could get by with it. The laundry is really piling up and there is SO much to do.

We decided to throw Ethan a birthday party a month after the fact. So I have 2 weeks before that happens. LOTS to do. I wish we could have held it in May, but with all the other birthday parties he was invited to it just wasn't going to happen. June 14th we'll be having a cookout and water games - should the weather cooperate! I did finish the invitations yesterday so they could go home with the kids through school channels rather then me having to mail all of them!

Well Ty is due to walk through the door any minute now. 3 days and 30 minutes for the younger three before the year is over!

Glad to hear that you are doing well Donna!

Kylie! Man! J can't catch a break can he! hugs my dear!

Blessings,

Garsy

Noah is having a half birthday party in August. We were going to do a sledding party in February, but the weather didn't cooperate. We had plenty of snow...just not when we needed it for that. Go figure. LOL

We've decided to ease the burden of party throwing for me, since I will be 36+ weeks pregnant then. We're meeting at a Christian campground. Everyone will bring their own picnic lunch and we will provide drinks and dessert. The kids can swim, boat (with their parents), play on the playground, etc, and I don't really have to plan a thing.

Garsy-How wonderful that your summer vacation starts this week!!

Donna-Noah's l/2 birthday sounds fun. My eldest ds will be 20 in 2 weeks and I need to come up with something "fun" for us to do as a family.

DS and I were going to go swimming after work/day camp today and the pool was already closed for repairs. Hopefully they will find a quick (and inexpensive) repair for whatever ails the pool.

Mike got out of school May 16 and Linz got out last Wednesday. She remembered she left her gym clothes in her locker so we headed up to school today to find them. They were in a large bag full of other student's clothes. Thankfully she found them.

Mike starts summer school june 2. His IEP calls for the school to extend the year if he needs it so we won't have to pay for it. I'm glad of that.

Dan and Kim are here and they are helping paint the rental house we own. It's been raining all day so they are going to the Indiana Jones movie tonight. Larry had free passes from work to see it 2 days before it opened so we've already been. I liked it. :)

It doesn't seem like school's been out for almost a week (since Wed. the 21st) already. I took my middle two to the library this morning to collect their prizes for reading 15 hours for the summer reading program. My daughter got a beanie baby, and my son got a remote control car. My youngest didn't get hers yet. They still have to keep reading to make their personal goals though (for food coupons).

I got my youngest two signed up for swimming lessons today too.

My middle daughter went to a friend's house to jump on the trampoline, then they are coming here later for night. She left about 5. I wonder where they are eating supper.

Hi Everybody!

I am just checking in. I don't have much to say because all of our bible studies have ended, bible classes have ended. The kids are still in public school until the 13th of June but it seems as if they are done because neither of them are bringing home homework so I really have nothing much to say.

Kylie, I am sorry about your son. We had problems in our old school and nothing was done to stop it at all. So far this year, we have had all good experiences with the kids and teachers.

Have a great week everybody!

J had a better day today. After being so narky with me last night about making him do extra work on his assignment he discovered that he was one of few students who actually covered everything the assignment asked for and he was one of the few who got to the three minute mark with his speech.

X forgot to pick up the mobile and taxi money today on her way out of school. Thankfully dh was close to home and able to meet them to pay for it. I'm hoping it's a good lesson learnt. At least I'm only ten minutes drive from home if it was really necessary for me to leave work.

I'm really enjoying my work. I'm finding that for the most part I tend to not find the 'difficult' clients nearly as 'difficult' as some like to make them out to be. The only ones who do bother me some are the ones who like 'special' attention which they're quite happy to push in front of others to get. I'm pretty firm with people like that.

I had one lady today who just really didn't want to use our organisation because of a previous bad experience years ago, but she was fine with me even though I had to get her to fill out one form three times because she hadn't given sufficient information.

I guess it's just a matter of perspective, whether you view people first and foremost as troublemakers or as people who have problems to solve. I'm, by nature, a problem solver.

I cannot wait until Noah is done with school and we can all sleep in a bit. Yawn...

Found out he gets done the 13th, as soon as their standardized testing is done.

It's not a nap if it's still from the overnight sleep. And hey...I'm growing a baby here and I'm tired! LOL Doesn't help I've been awake every night from 2-4 am lately...

That's why I referred to sleep as a nap. Do you ever really get a nights sleep when pregnant?

Oh wait, that sounds like middle age and the way I do now..... Yawn....

(Enjoy the sleep that you will get in your 30's...before insomnia hits. )

Happy first day of summer vacation to those who are finishing today!

I started buying back to school clothes yesterday. My store is having a great clearance sale and I found some really nice collared shirts cheap! I need to start watching for slacks for ds...he can't wear denim this coming school year.

Well Donna, they say that is your body's way of getting used to a feeding schedule. Isn't it great how our bodies can do that?

DONE! Done with another year! Done with the middle school for a year anyway! On to highschool for Ty!

Graduation was kinda neat. This is how bright and gifted this years 8th graders are. Ty was one of 208 kids. He managed pretty much A's and B's with some classes where he got almost recieved straight A's (CAD class, German, Skills) The teachers honored the top 10% of their students in each of their classes. So there were ALOT of awards dished out! LOTS! BUT Ty, EVEN with his practically straight A's in 3 classes did NOT recieve any Academic awards! NOT A SINGLE one! He did recieve a volunteerism/community service award (along with like 15 other kids), a award for his participation in the last two years in the school musicals and one for his particpation in and dedication to his writers group. There are SO many tremendously smart kids in his year, that it's almost scary!

The little guys got home and the first thing out of Ethan's mouth is "I'm a 4th grader!"

Ty is at a friends house tonight and going straight from there tomorrow morning to another friends house for much of the day. We'll let him hang out with his friends for a few days and then it's going to be time to RELAX for awhile here at home before the craziness of July starts. I did call both sets of parents with both of these parties and made sure there was going to be adequete supervision. Not to worried tho as both families are devout Christian families and I know one set of parents really well and have a pretty good feeling about the other set just by speaking with the mom on the phone earlier today!

Tomorrow we'll have soccer - IF it's not raining. According to the weather man it should be done by about 5 AM and soccer doesn't start til 9. I fear it's going to be a MUDDY game!

Watched the Scripp's Spelling Bee finals tonight on TV! VERY excited to see a young man from right here in Indiana take home top honors!

Now we begin SUMMER!!! Yippie!

Blessings,

Garsy

Julia, I love to find a good clearance rack!

I bought some clothes for my youngest two at yard sales today. I got my son a new computer game for a dollar (Vet Emergency 2 or something like that). He likes it, but I probably should have had him save it until he got back from camp. Got a lot of summer left.

I also got a few toys for the 4yo, and a pair of Crocs and a pair of Vans for my 13yo. The Crocs are kind of worn, but maybe my 17yo can borrow them and see if she wants to get a pair for work. The Vans are in really nice shape though, and were only a dollar.

My oldest called me from camp this evening; the other kids were doing something, but she just wanted to talk for a while. So we did. She always sounds so grown up when she is there.
