Oops I guess I meant her. Or even if you just cut her hair really short and then cut it again later. That way it will still be there, and as new hair grows in, you can cut the old smelly stuff off gradually. Then summer will be here and she will get sprayed again. LOL

yeah, that's the way it happens. [>:][8D] One year she got sprayed THREE times in 2 weeks. I was beyond livid.

Well, I did shave her chest down, the spray was just on her face and chest. I used a concoction I found on the internet to soak her in too, it's peroxide, baking soda and dawn dish detergent. It smells not so good (I don't like the smell of peroxide) but it's suppose to work. she smells not too good but it's better than the skunk smell. I did use it once before but I didn't leave it on long enough, one website said to leave it on 15 minutes, so I started with her head and let it soak in while I did the rest. I can still faintly smell it but it isn't as bad as it was. And since I didn't shave her entire body she doesn't look bad either.

I use Mane and Tail shampoo on her too, which smells nice. It's for horses but makes her smell good.

I can't remember what we used on our dog. I know we did the tomato juice thing, but then I think we just used our shampoo and conditioner. I know suave has some great smelling stuff, or that claryfiying shampoo that pretty much strips your hair and then follow up with conditioner. That might also work and is safe for the dog.

You know, for the first time in the five years we've lived here, this is the first year I've seen a woodtick and it came in on the cat after he got out one day. Mr. Kitty brought home SEVERAL that day. WE NEED to get flea and tick stuff for the animals too before too long.

If you would say a prayer for Brian's dad. He's a diabetic and a week ago this past Thursday was out hunting, and came home with a sore rubbed raw on his toe. Well by the time Monday rolled around and he could see a dr. it was infected and even with heavy duty antibiotics he landed himself in the hospital this past Wednesday. He is currently on IV antibiotics and the dr's say the infection has reached the bone. The good news is that his circulation is still quite good so we know there is blood flow to the area. He called today to wish me a Happy Mother's Day, and he sounded so weak and worn out and in serious pain. Brian says both he and Brian's Mom are seriously worried that he might end up losing his foot if it doesn't respond to the antibiotics. His diabetes just complicates healing.

I'm off to check the dryer so I can possibly toss another load in. I seriously need some pants to wear tomorrow!

Good morning, everyone! I hope you're all doing well today.

I got down to visit Mom on Saturday. She looked well and spoke with a happier tone of voice, but she was confused a little. She asked me a couple of times "Didn't you have another one?" and "What's her name again?" about the girls. It's sad. We took her outside and played charades for about 30 minutes. She seemed to enjoy that.

Hubby's sister and aunt joined us at the in-laws for lunch on Sunday. It was good to see everyone, and we all did part of the cooking, a small version of covered-dish.

Garsy, I hope you get things worked out with insurance and your hubby finds something soon. Have you heard anything more about the school possibilities for you?

Donna, I love dandelions, too, though I can't have them around too long due to allergies. That was just a special moment.

Tracy, you did sell your house quickly. Sounds like you already have some ideas for your new home. I hope everything goes well. Our church used to participate in a church softball league at the local Y, but we haven't had a team the last couple of years - people are just too busy with their student's activities to do something of their own. I know you'll have fun.

Kath, I hope you've covered all the bases now with the skunk smell. (I remember hitting one with my car late one night. I thought we'd never get the smell out of the car.) I hope you have a some skunk-free weeks at least.

I hope everyone has a good Monday and is doing well.

It's definitely time to treat for fleas here; hopefully I'll get the stuff dug out today.

Hubby is on the field trip with our son. I hope they have fun. It's supposed to be very windy later today.

I should go start some laundry.

Well with the school year about over (14 days left) I don't think much of anything will open up right now. But I'm going to be checking the HR webpage for our school on a regular basis all summer fo next fall.

We are actually headed to school in about 45 minutes to help Ethan's class plant some trees in our environmental center! Then I have to copy the programs for the 5th grade musical.

I talked to the teacher.

She didn't mean to hurt DeeDee's feelings. She is a drama queen who is bored in class and overly sensitive. Umm, if you know that - why make a 'joke?' She said that she was 'giving in' to DeeDee and allowing her to win and indicated it by saying she could do what she wants - she's a princess.

Ummm.... There is only 13 days of school left...

And, she said that DeeDee will read story books when she is supposed to be reading text books.

Yes, it was quick, and we even got to choose between two buyers. That was good because one of the agents was getting a bit too picky for my tastes. The second buyer came in with a nice clean offer, all pre-approved and ready to go, so we took theirs and didn't even counter anything eventhough I knew we probably could have gotten another couple of thousand dollars extra, but the difference that would have made for us was like 14.00 less on our new house payment. So we just said take it as a gift.

Aso for the softball. I had fun because I didn't really have to do much and I did get on base when I was at bat so that wasn't bad for me.

The daughter's day luncheon. I picked mom up, she wanted to get there about 40-45 minutes before it started so that she could put out the programs and give folks a hand if need be. We walked in at 11:20 and she said that 'guests are arriving' only to be told that the guest were over an hour early. They changed the time because someone couldn't make it until 12:30. I took DeeDee up to the cemetary to walk around and watched most folks come it at 11:50, unless they had family in the kitchen who called them.

And they wonder why I don't go to church there....

There is a dripping pipe above my office....

Debilyn, I'm glad your mom seemed to enjoy Mothers Day.

I decided to order meds online for our kitty that is suffering from mange. Thankfully it's the kind that the other animals can't catch. Poor little guy keeps bumping his head on things trying to scratch it. The online store has to contact the vet so now Larry is worried the vet won't prescribe it but I don't think there will be a problem. drsfostersmith.com is like 25.oo cheaper than 1800petmeds! 1800 cost more than the vet charged us. [&:] Talk about false advertising.

Wait, did the teacher actually say that princess thing? Christian or not, I am not sure if I would have been able to hold my tongue if that is the case. You get out of school early. We have like 18 days left. I can't wait because I hate being so scheduled. That is why I could never homeschool. We would never get anything done. But I do wish I could.

My kids are involved in so many other extra activities that they would have friends outside the house, plus this guy that I graduated with married a woman who homeschools the kids. It is kind of funny because I have known him since 1st grade. Now we live exactly two blocks away from eachother. He has been in and out of schools because of discipline issues. I had my own discipline issues in highschool, and we both ended up in almost the same place as far as our spiritual lives.

Anyway, momma, back to you. Kudos for being able to handle this in a calm way. I am just glad I don't have any problems with the kids teachers. But they are good and very willing to work with you.

Yep Mrs. Tracy, she did. Admitted it to me Friday afternoon. She also said that tempers are short and that DeeDee has been a problem several times. That bugs me too, if she is a problem, tell me, if she isn't, don't bring it up.

What I can't believe is that she said that 'some girls would consider it a compliment..." Not in that context.

But, the teacher was crying on the phone. She sees herself in DeeDee and I truly think she wants to do her part to make her a successful adult. She just has a cruddy way of dealing with it.

Have to call Nick's teacher this week and see what has been decided about Nick. We've said our piece and they know what we want done, so it depends on Nick's mom and what the teachers (classroom and reading/resource) decide now. I so hope he is held back, for his own good!

I picked up Nick's medical records, which we requested after his mother called CPS on us for the Ritalin thing. I won't say more, but that "woman" infuriates me. She has no right to accuse us of medical neglect. NONE.

Donna, I hear lots of things about me from my son. My ex husband's wife doesn't seem to hold back on him, but he says that she tells him things mostly when his dad isn't there. It got to the point when he came home with a "Mom, get this one!" We directed him to another person because I am sick of hearing it. 11 years down and 7 more to go for me. But I do hear you.

Does Ritalin work? Jake uses Adderal and it totally changed his work habits. Worksheets used to take hours to do and we would both end up in tears by the time we were done, now he does most work on his own and very neatly. We can tell when he skips his meds though. First thing to go is the handwriting.

Donna - new teacher, new 'community' same problems. She can have the former kindergarden teacher, the one who wants to be popular with the kids or the one I know very little about. DeeDee had a former K teacher in second, it happened she had her in K as well and she did the same material each year, but figured the kids got more out of it the second time around.

I'm tempted to get her tested for gifted again, but I don't know why - I won't let her go to it if she gets in but it may force and IEP even if she isn't in the 'gifted' class. Gifted is a pull out and you are expected to do all of the work you miss, plus gifted work. The regular teacher can waive the work, but I have yet to see one that will. And, the kids in gifted are the ones who are mean to her.

Let's just say, if the case against us is not closed, I am going to strongly suggest the worker look in detail into Nick's medical records, and then tell me who is guilty of medical neglect.[:@] It isn't us.

Yes, the Ritalin works for him. It gives him that extra 2 seconds to at least think before he does things. Helps him focus in school. But his weight is an issue, and we do not believe he needs to be on Ritalin when he's not in school...he just needs to be more closely supervised if he's not on it.

MB, if the kids in gifted are mean to her, I'd hesitate to put her with them MORE, KWIM? I'm sorry school is so rough for her...and you.

We don't give Jake his meds on days off all of the time either. Mostly because he wakes up so late that it isn't worth it because he won't sleep that night. But that is mostly on the weekends. We do use it in the summer because otherwise the days otherwise tend to get long and he sometimes has trouble holding his tongue. He is very impulsive but otherwise pretty good. But we don't have wieght problem with Jake. He is growing and gaining weight at a normal rate so we are good there. Around here, Adderall seems to be the drug of choice for ADHD though. There is that concerta and one other that I hear about all of the time, but since we have had no problems, we just stay where we are at. Plus his dose is so low that I feel comfortable letting him have it every day. But it took me like two years to get to that point. I was always afraid of him having problems in hot weather or when he is very active. Now I am more comfortable with it though.

FINALLY home! it has been a very long day and evening.

Zoe had a FUN field trip today to a local candy manufacturer. Here's their website www.debrands.com This is a well-known place around here and the CHOCOLATE is t DIE for! This was for Brownies and was also their final meeting and awards ceremony.

Then immedately after that was over at about 6:30, we went to pick up Brian after his massive oral surgery. He had all his teeth removed and was fitted for dentures today Surgery took nearly 3 1/2 hours! Needless to say he is in LOTS of pain right now - although the Vicodin is beginning to kick in. He needs to go back in tomorrow morning for a post surgery check. After running to the pharmacy and getting his meds, and finally getting home tonight it was 9PM and I still had Zoe with me and 3 kids at home that were not even near going to bed. Zoe hadn't even eaten any supper.

I'm exhausted!

More tomorrow.

I know it will take some time; I do hope Brian has a fast recovery from the surgery.

Tonight was K's last band concert. It was at the bandshell in the park.

N had his field trip Monday, hubby got to go with.

N keeps talking about needing a snack for this day and this day, and a game for the other day....School is pretty much over now it seems.

E worked tonight, but doesn't work at the nursing home again until Monday, which works out OK. She doesn't really have any finals on Tuesday that she'll need to study for.

For Honors English they had to read books. E's group read The Fountainhead. It's 700 pages. The teacher asked the class how many read their books and only 3 kids had read them. I don't get that. E is not a reader yet she managed to get through it, probably at the expense of other classes. They've had over a month to read it. I'm not sure why I'm mentioning this; I guess I just find it sad that the assignment wasn't taken seriously. Some girl told E that she was being rude for saying that she read the book so she understood what was going on in it. Maybe Sparks Notes doesn't cut it so well.

I well remember how hard the recovery was for my man.[&:] Stay on top of those pain meds, even if he starts feeling a bit better. And lots of fluids...my Brian ended up in the ER with dehydration 3 or 4 days post-op.

You know you ladies aren't encouraging me, don't you? [:D] I still have to decide between 4 teeth and 7. I am leaning back toward the 4, because I can't miss enough work to recover from 7. The nurse said I can go back the next day. I don't know if I can or not. I need to talk to my HR person about pain med and the plant if you know what I mean.

I can 'pass' a drug test because I'd have the script, but I'd hate to need to mess with that. And, they may not want me here, in case I need to go into the plant proper. They like it when you are alert in there.

sorry! I don't know what to tell you either. Hubby is feeling much better today. BUT vicodin does make him kinda foggy. But remember Momma - he had 26 teeth removed, a far cry from 7.

We were blessed today! We signed Ty up for this Scholars program through the State of Indiana - it will basically pay for the vast majority of his college when he gets that far, if he meets certain requirements. Today in the mail we recieved information about summer day camps a local college offers and there is a Theatre camp that would be right up Ty's alley! And the best part - while it is open to ANY area student - participants in the scholar's program get to attend these camps FREE!!!!! The only catch is that attendence is MANDATORY and missing a class could result in not being excepted into future summer programs. I'm sure Ty will want to sign up for this course. I only hope it still has openings!
