Wow, you must be a very patient woman. I understand that she may think she is doing your daughter some good by telling her that, but at the same time, I am sure she was trained to only give praise and say good things to the kids if she was trying to build her self esteem. In my early childhood classes, we were told that even when a child was doing something they weren't supposed to, that we never say no, don't or anything with any type of negative. Now to me that was a bit extreme, but that is the current recommendation.

At my daughter's school, the teachers are so good with the kids. They teach the kids respect, they expect the kids to respect them back. They have it written all over the walls and they mean it. Honesty, respect, and leadership along with other things, and they hold those kids to it. But they treat them the way they want to be treated also.

Brian had more pain from his full dental extractions, but more bleeding issues from the time he had 4 molars removed. I think because when you have them all done, they are able to stitch the gums up nice and tightly and when you only have a few teeth pulled, it's harder to do that.

I know many of you are near the end of the school year, but we still have over a month left. It's getting harder and harder to get Noah to do his homework and be in bed at a decent hour. Plus, it's that dirty time of year when he needs a shower every single night. I'm starting to look forward to summer when I don't have to fight with him to come in while it's still light out!

WE have roughly 2 weeks left and it's been difficult for almost a month to get my kids to go to bed at a decent hour. Around here it's been so rainy that our yard is VERY muddy thus making my children are always dirty too!

Summer can't come to quickly for me!

It's going to be very quiet around here for me. Ty is headed off to film the Spring Choir performance, and the younger three are off to the end of the year party for youth group.

Donna, we are not out until the middle of June and that happens to be the week when we close on our house. How old is Noah? Jake is going to be 12 and from the pics, if one of them is Noah, then he is definatley younger, but starting when Jake was 10, he had to shower EVERY night no matter what. AND deoderant was a must. I think that is a bit young, but he needed it. Our problem isn't getting him into the shower, it is getting him to actually use the soap that is in there and get out in a timely manner. He will run the hot water tank out if you let him and not let the tinest bit of soap touch his body.

He is the same way with the toothbrush. I don't know how he does it, but he will go and brush his teeth, and you will still see chunks of crud on them. He gets mad at me when I sometimes go in there with a toothbrush, but I would rather he be mad at me for a while and see what it is supposed to feel like than end up needed all new teeth later. He already broke his two top permanant front teeth. I just don't want him to think that he doesn't have to stay clean and not stink. I guess that is a boy thing because I don't have that problem with my girls. But they are little yet. Although, I had problems with him from little on. So maybe it is just the way he is.

Noah is 8. Nick (7) and Hannah (3) are in my current avatar. Noah also has to wear deodorant already. Brian had a shaveable mustache at 11 or 12, so I kind of expect an early puberty for Noah.

I just wonder what it is that does it. Do you think it is medication or related to ADHD? Kids with ADHD have different brain chemicals than kids without, so maybe?

I think when puberty hits may be genetic. Noah doesn't have ADD/ADHD. Brian has/had either ADHD or FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome), or both.[&:] Men in Brian's family all seem to develop early. Not sure if Nick will because he is on the small (i.e. not growing!) side, so maybe he'll take after his mom.

I am not sure how my ex husband was with all of that. I really don't care to talk to him enough to ask since it is apparent that Jake has started it. He is so cute though because he already has a shadow underneath his nose. He is my baby and I am having a hard time with letting him grow up. But at the same time, it is fun to watch him grow and flourish. He is awesome.

Soccer has been cancelled for this Saturday. There is a funeral for a 6 year old little local boy whom was killed in an ATV accident yesterday. His funeral is this Saturday at the church that hosts the soccer league and MANY of the kids that are in the program are classmates of this little boy and since he attended youth groups at the church many other children knew him as well. The soccer director decided that it was best to cancel soccer for the day and make up the games later. He was either a kindergartner or first grader and in Zoe's youth group.

Pray for that family.

ETA: Oh dear, oh dear! I just learned some further information that is breaking my heart. He was riding the ATV with his 7 year old cousin whom I know very well. Zoe does too. The little girl was on Zoe's basketball team and her mother was the assistant coach. She was hospitalized with severe cuts and brusing on her face, legs and arms. I can't imaging how little K is feeling! WE are so going to have to wrap our arms around that child and love on her!

OK, I can deal with the girly growing up stuff, but my son, shaving? And I know, there's other stuff that goes along with that. He's still my little boy though. (age 10)

He and R, 4, were in the back yard today walking around with large plastic trash cans on themselves. They weren't too dirty, we just use them for sticks or leaves or grass when we mow. They looked pretty funny, so I videoed them.

E found out today that she won't be school paper editor. I'm so sad for her, she was looking forward to that. I think that she thought that would have been her "accomplishment" in high school. I need to tell her that she can and will be remembered for far more important things than whether or not she was the editor.

He had a rough night last night. Got a slight low grade fever that would come and go practically all night long. He soaked our bedding clean through so I'm washing bedding today.

I'm not sure if it was a full sized ATV or not. I'm assuming it had to be smaller as K was not a very big child. It's going to be pretty rough on our small community for awhile.

So sad to hear about, Garsy. We've had a couple of similar accidents in our community in the past two months. One youth died, there were two others who were injuried. I'll be praying for those you mentioned.

I told Zoe the details this morning and once again I underestimated my sweetheart of a child. All she could think of was how we were going to help her friend "K." She said that "K" and her family was going to need lots of loving on and hugs. So I told her to think of a few ways we could SHOW "K" and her family some love and then we'd pick a couple to do this weekend. My little girl brought tears to my eyes as her primary concern was her friend. It was as if she KNEW little "L", the boy who was killed, was okay and in heaven and that "K" was going to need lots of love and support through all of this and for some time to come.

Garsy...how sad about that little boy. A friend of mines co-mother-in-law (her daughter's mil) lost her husband in an atv accident a few years ago.

Garcy, that is horrible about the accident. Was the 7 year old driving the ATV? I can't imagine being involved in an accident where somebody died and I lived. I would feel that for the rest of my life. And I am an adult who can see the difference between a simple accident and something that was on purpose. How aweful for everybody involved. Will keep you all in my prayers. I am so sorry Garcy.
