quote:
I believe when it comes to violent crime a person has no business being in any leadership position especially as an elder. Pedophiles, rapists, murderers, child killers, etc. Yeah there is grace and forgiveness but not wanting such a one to be leader over you and your family is wisdom. The Apostle Paul was an admitted murderer. David was a murderer. Perhaps 2 of the greatest leaders in the bible? quote:

Pedophiles, rapists, murderers, child killers, etc. Yeah there is grace and forgiveness but not wanting such a one to be leader over you and your family is wisdom. You would want someone who has molested children being in leadership? How about a rapist? He was 14 when this happened. He is 31 or 32 now. Yes I can put something like this behind but yes I would remember it. I believe it was less than 18 years from the point Saul left for Damascus with the orders putting the christians there to death and his first missionary journey? quote:
but the fact that he basically had an affair and is now getting a divorce, is all but proof that HE has not asked for forgiveness, and he STILL is living in that lust driven sin. That alone SHOULD disqualify everyone and anyone. I rarely agree with Stephanos but this post is an exception. I am not concerned with something that happened 18 years ago as much as I am concerned with this affair. I am equally disgusted- actually moreso with the so called "leaders" who looked the other way on this but that isn't what we're discussing now. The affair does disqualify him. I don't contend with that much on Todd I only grow weary of hearing about something that happened 18 years ago and listening to everyone condemn him for it. quote:
I mean wisdom has to be used. If someone was locked up for money laundering, I would hope such a one would not be put in charge of anything dealing with money. Or a person got convicted for messing with kids. I would hope leadership would have the wisdom to not put that person over anything dealing with kids. Insurance companies have definately helped deal with that. There are some pretty strict rules by some underwriters on what they will and won't cover and they often have rules about no sex offenders teaching kids, watching kids, etc. Our insurance will not allow me to take any of our kids in nursery to the bathroom by myself so I don't do it. We're also not allowed to allow all males in the nursery which isn't much of a problem since who ever heard of a bunch of guys volunteering to do that? ; ) Coincidentally Judas was a thief and Jesus put him in charge of the money.
