cybrjewls -> 770 million in food aid to Africa! War on World Hunger..... (5/2/2008 12:57:24 PM)

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you offered me a drink... I was sick or in prison and you visited me.

I think that UN troops or coalition forces might be in order, as well, to keep the food stuff distribution secure from those that would take it and sell it to develop wartime efforts.

Jesus said make peace with your adversary ahead of time before they take you into court and The Judge Rules; for the decision may be final.

WE are kidding, right? Remember the verses where Jesus talked about the woman with 2 mites?

this is sad, 770 million in a 70 billion dollar war , where we have sent 500 billion aready, this same said 770 million is supposed to be spread out over 55 countries? Africa is a CONTINENT.

#1)U.N. Sits on 1.2 Billion dollars while crying for more $$ in the face of possible food shortage: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,353944,00.html

#2)"Just weeks before it announced the onset of a global food crisis and the urgent need for donors to provide at least $775 million in additional funding, the World Food Program was sitting on a cash and near-cash stockpile of more than $1.22 billion"

U.N. Urging donors to provide $775 Million, we gave how much $770,000,000.00

Well, no tracydolls, we have sent billions each year to Africa, and we are slated to send billions more; this is an addendum to that aid based on rising food prices.

this from a source trying to defend the US aid to africa.

Even though these targets and agendas have been set, year after year almost all rich nations have constantly failed to reach their agreed obligations of the 0.7% target. Instead of 0.7%, the amount of aid has been around 0.2 to 0.4%, some $100 billion short.

Furthermore, the quality of the aid has been poor.

We owe China 6 trillion for some cheap plastic toys. How much is this out of what income? A joke.

Mar 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

Tracydolls, you are selectively quoting there.

The same article you are citing points out that the US government gave over 100 billion dollars in aid in the last four years, more in real dollars than any other country. And that doesn't even count private donations, which amount 30 billion dollars a year.

Could we do more? Certainly. But what we are doing is substantive.

And I have news for you, as one who has been to Africa; just throwing money at them doesn't work.

We have more than any other country, certainly more than several in africa, I'm not saying US don't give, I'm asking compared to what? Who are these other countries that own the wealth, their partners in the CRIME.

We the the Christian nation don't even give 1% of wealth. I suppose we can't even discuss 10%? Morally 1% is not substantive, it's a joke.

Well, exactly, compared to what? Who is giving more? Especially in terms of private giving.

quote:

Actually, when you are talking about the government, you aren't talking about 10% of our 'wealth', you are talking about 10% of the income from our taxes - which also happens to go to other worthwhile things that help people here. And many of us give close to 30% in taxes when it's all said and done.

And even with that being the case, many of us, despite the lack of wealth still give well over 10% of our incomes to various charitable causes.

So let's not paint so broad a brush here, ok? And if you are concerned with what Scripture says about it, it says make sure we are ourselves obeying before we start telling others to obey.

I highly recommend a trip there sometime and seeing up close what does work.

Meanwhile Bush wants to spend $70 BILLION on making war! Where are our priorities? Maybe if we were feeding people instead of killing people we wouldn't have so many enemies.

Bush details $70 Billion war funding

We don't even give 10% of taxes to aid. So those figures are misleading. We pledge 0.7% , we give maybe 0.4%.

I know we do, We are talking about the gov't. the OP.

I'm sure you don't want to hear my proposal. It's found in the Bible.

Exo 12:35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:

Hey can we borrow some of our diamonds, gold & oil back?

cybrjewls -> RE: 770 million in food aid to Africa! War on World Hunger..... (5/2/2008 6:58:56 PM)

Yeah, I remember when Egypt, and Persia, and Assyria, and Rome, and The European Empires of the past gave 1% of their food in a freewill gift offering to another people in another land.....

That's definitely in my recollection of historical fact.....!?

Well, Saudi Arabia does finance some of the debt we carry through Treasury bonds. Does that seem to fit the bill?

Its amazing to me that the same people who cry out the injustices of the wealthy want to use monies...that which causes wealth...to cure problems.

Its akin to giving drugs to cure a drug addict.

Poverty is caused by the lack of Christ.

Poverty in Africa is more political than it is social or economics.

We could probably cure most of Africa's problems by conqueoring it...but I am sure many would object

While African does self-inflict many of it's problems...the current high food prices are a direct result of market speculators in the commodities market. The African countries have no control over that.

btw, this aid amounts to what we spend in one week in Iraq.

The Bible states clearly why people are poor, do some of the poor have Jesus. YES.

Conquer it? You already did that. by colonization, stripping of 10 million peoples, gold, oil, diamonds, coca, animals. Christian missionary work, African aid to them.

What else you got?

you want the list,

the wages off 200+ years of slavery, cotton, tobacco, rice. How much is that. I want every company that made money off slavery, every one.

Rubber, no tires for cars, it is stolen from Liberia, Firestone tires is still there with their plantations. diamonds- 500 years of diamonds from South Africa. gold, oil from Nigeria, cocoa, plant, this means you cannot have chocolate, animals, elephants, tigers are not native to US.

I'll take all these also, they were invented by black people

I'll take all the AA children and people(from tiger woods to colin powell,) born here, get on ships go back, and when we get there you can have your guns, there are no gun factories in Africa.

I'd strip Europe also. They can live off their natural resources, make every european go back, leave the Native americans, and all their resources........ you also have to give back to mexico, central and south america all their gold, marijuana, coca plant(lidocaine, novicaine), make meth for painkillers. I would be in Europe a long time, stripping castles and palaces, art work, the Museum of Cairo in Britain, tiaras from the Queen, I would strip Belguim down to nakedness for what King Leopold did to the Congolese people, I would get all the Nazi Loot out of the Swiss vaults for Jews, I could have fun, fun, fun.

Also Afghansitan, etc would get back all their poppy seeds, no morphine either. Keep the brandy made from grapes from france, we can live without it.

Once we got to Africa. Moslems gotta move around as all Europeans.

I would take all the income, restore it, throw them shiny rocks back on the ground, translate the Bible into all languages, build wells, feed them so they don't have to eat gorillas, give them vaccines, meds, repopulate the animals, get traintracks laid. visit the Pyramids, take some pixs, go home to my land among the nigerians, rest. Praise G-D,
Thank Him for His Mercy.

tracydolls,
Oh gee.
Why stop there?
Why not go from country to country doing the same thing? Continent to continent?
Hmph, if we go far enough back in history everyone has been oppressed or been at the mercy of another...everyone owes everyone and we all deserve reparations.[8|]

Human sin has been in this world far longer than the U.S. has been around.
It was there 200 years ago.
It was there 2,000 years ago.

How far do you want to go back?[8D]
What you are advocating is ridiculous.
