I would like to share a poem I wrote about my disabled son.... hope that's ok.... HEALED I asked You many times, O Lord, to heal my crippled child. But You just held me in Your arms, and tenderly You smiled. I asked You, God, to touch him, and make his body whole. You looked at me with knowing eyes, and gently touched my soul. I asked You, Holy Father, to take away his pain. But you left for me a rainbow, and a soft and cleansing rain. I asked You, Precious Jesus, to make the sickness go. But instead You gave him grace and strength to let Your purpose show. I asked you, Loving Savior, to help me understand. So You came and sat beside me, and You reached and took my hand. You taught me many things, my God, as I watched my child endure. He suffered trials repeatedly, but still his heart was pure. The lesson that I learned from You, through Your merciful design. Was that he did not need healing, all the while that need was mine. © Stacy Dewees August 2005
